The regions of West and Northwest off Hokkaido are situated on the boundary of two major plates of Okhotsk and Eurasian, and an occurrence of repeating earthquake is expected. The author had revealed details of damages due to the Off-Kamuimisaki Earthquaken of 1940 which was the largest one occurred in these regions. Continuing to the previous paper, literature surveys were carried out through documents and newspaper articles to the damaging earthquakes in these regions. damages due to other earthquakes were listed and discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of an intruder and partitions on personal space with reference domains of demonstrative pronouns and physiological responses. 1) The person's psychological territory could be expressed with demonstrative pronouns. 2) An intruder on personal space caused a decrease in the "kore" area and increase (p<0.01) in CV_<R-R> levels. 3) The "kore" area and BPmin tended to decrease (p<0.05) in the group who felt decrease in mental pressure because of setting a partition on personal space. 4) Mental pressure was not always in accord with the feeling of avoidance.

In order to reproduce both transient dynamics and space distribution of an urban population only derived from a simple self-organism principle, a multi-agent simulation model is established. A resident agent tries to move to a cell so as to maximize his own utility that is defined by both effects of distance from the urban central and population density. The so-called "doughnut phenomenon" as well as growing Densely Inhabited District (DID) can be emulated qualitatively, even though the model bases on a simple self-organism rule.

This paper reports the results of a field survey on the indoor thermal environment in two terraced houses in Johor Bahru city, Malaysia. The survey was carried out in a single-story house and a two-story house. The results show that opening windows not only affects ventilation but also controls the influence of the outside thermal environment. Moreover, on the double-story house, the upper floor has the function of thermal insulation for the ground floor.

Off Miyagi-ken Earthquakes have been occurred repeatedly with an interval of around 40 years. Twenty-three years have been passed since the occurrence of the 1978 earthquake and the next one is expected in near future. As the previous earthquakes before 1978 event, 1936 and 1897 earthquakes can be cited. In this paper, literature survey with newspaper articles for 1897 event was carried out.

Although both involve spatial data, relationship between GIS and Space Syntax software has not been well researched and using GIS data for Space Syntax analyses has not been an easy operation. In this research, newly developed software, “PASTA”, which uses GIS data for Space Syntax analyses, is developed. PASTA is segment-analysis-based software and axial analysis can also be performed with automatically generated axial maps. PASTA handles both shape data and table data to makes full use of GIS data. Besides, the result is compared to hand-drawn axial map to clarify characteristics and problems of using GIS data for spatial analysis.

In Tsushima Island, characteristic wooden stables are distributed. They are constructed with pillars shaped rectangle section. The distribution and the detail of the structure is investigated on this report. As a result it was realized that the researched stable of this area has simple constructing system using curved woods skillfully. The way of using woods becomes the precious reference on thinking about the utilization of future wood resources.

As seismic retrofit for Aichi prefectural office building, base isolation retrofit method was recognized by Aichi prefectural assembly and we started further study for basic design. We had to budget the seismic retrofit cost for coming year and we investigated important matters for cost such as building foundation level, necessary volumes of soil improving and so on. And we had to decide seismic criterion of retrofit building. We had to study about tender method in addition. This report is summary of basic design.

The old-fashioned orangutan house in Sapporo Maruyama Zoo was renovated with a concept of "environmental enrichment" in 2008 spring. The concept was stretched for not only the orangutan but also visitors and a zookeeper as well. In the outside field for the orangutan, there are soils, many natural plants, and some play equipments such as ropes, beds, seat swings, and ponds. On the other hand, at the observation area for visitors, they can see the movement and the condition of the orangutan at close range through the full-height glazing. In summer solar shading strategies as Sudare and louvers can provide the cool spots for the orangutan, visitors, and a zookeeper as well.

Because of depopulation and decline of central district in the local city, the extensive used lands have been increasing. This research aims to grasp the condition of extnsive used lands at the central district in the local city, we examined the condition of car parkings (764), intention of individual owners and visitor in Ube city. As a result of following points; 1) The narrow parkings lie scattered in the whole area. A lot of them is private parking or contract parking, and is few check parking which visitor uses. 2) Visitor knows check parking, but they don't use them. 3) The old owners are going to hold the lots, As they have no mind to use practically. 4) Some of owners think lots are too narrow for them to practice. It is a necessary to have the systems for applicable to narrow lots.

However, that method cannot include one item in two groups. A wide common concept item will be included in either one cluster. Therefore I suggested a new method to form a cluster by overlap permission. I developed a support tool(PC software) and really applied it. The new method provided abstract concepts that ware equal to normal method.

In order to build the recycling system of concrete waste, a primary study for applicability of recycled fine aggregate concrete to the precast concrete products has been carried out. The study results have confirmed that a) the properties of recycled fine aggregate can be improved by the wet grinding treatment, b) the properties of recycled fine aggregate concrete can be improved by steam curing, c) reuse of recycled fine aggregate concrete is highly applicable through property improvement, and d) reuse of recycled fine aggregate concrete is highly effective in view of cost and environment influence. The study results have also proven that the material design of recycled fine aggregate concrete for the precast concrete products can be made by applying the relative quality value method.

The Rikuu Earthquake of 1896 is one of the largest inland events that occurred in Tohoku District, Northern Japan, of which magnitude was 7.2. This earthquake caused heavy damage both Iwate and Akita Prefectures. In the previous paper, damage in Iwate Prefecture was revealed referring newspaper articles at that time. Continuing to the previous paper, damage data of Akita Prefecture is surveyed with reconnaissance reports and local documents at that time. Seismic intensities are estimated with collected damage data by local governmental units and precise distribution maps are made.

This study aims to reduce nursing home's care work burden by planning method with the consideration of care worker's psychological burden and physical load. Using the results of behavior observation of care workers at seven existing nursing homes and the questionnaire data obtained from ninety-two care workers, care work burden calculation program considering psychological burden and physical load for the facility planning was developed.

At Toyama prefecture, there are many proverbs about weather forecasts, which are connecting with the view of Tateyama high mountains. As the altitudes of the mountains are about 2,000-3,000m, it may have many influences for the weather of Toyama area. We observed fine weather condition, when Tateyama had a good view from Toyama plain at daytime. In the night and the next day, the weather condition turned to rain or snow. For the theoritical analysis of these weather changes, we checked some upper-air chart, 500hPa, 700hPa and 850hPa. As a result, it has been guessed for that a local cold high has caused the airflows, which would arise such conditions at the plain near the mountains.

This study develops an environmental information visualization system for supporting thermal environment design in city planning. This system is constructed on a all-purpose GIS software. As visualization methods of 3D models, wire frame, surface model and solid model are applied according to a target scale or the characteristics of environmental information. The developed system is able to display urban planning data, landscape, thermal environment and historical data in multi-scale and multi-temporal using the 3D GIS.
