The production of iron using coke as a fuel and the construction of Iron Bridge were first accomplished in the world. The value that they should be preserved is very high. The ironmasters of the IRONBRIDGE GORGE started making iron products of many differente kinds. They came to play an important role in technology for the development of the English Industrial Revolution. It is understood that a great influence was brought to the society. The Victorian town is a Open Air Museum. It has a mine, blast furnaces, factories and stores recreating life and landscape in Victorian age. The China Museum, Tile Museum and Clay Tabacco Pipe Museum are local industrial museums. They have a long history and the uniqueness of the their products.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of social planning for people with disabilities on the process of deinstitutionalization. Deinstitutionalization or `from institution to community' has been perhaps the most important subject in the way services for people with intellectual disabilities have been organized in Japan. The provision of institutional care in Japan increased continuously from its establishment in the middle of the last century up until 2002, when the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare made the 2002 Plan for People with Disabilities. The Plan recommended that more provision should be made to house people with intellectual disabilities in group-homes within the community, rather than build new institutions. And the Services and Support for Persons with Disabilities Act of 2005 stipulated that ten percent of people living in institutions should be transferred to community living. Unfortunately, many people who transferred from institutions have returned to their parents' home and increased the burden of care on their families. Therefore in the creation of alternatives to institutions lies the task, not only of building new placements within the community, but also of finding new ways of organizing services and providing help and support, especially for people with the most extensive needs. A new vision of community services is required, focusing on such things as primacy of community living, emphasis on social relationships, individual-centered support, and personal choice and control. This is the greatest challenge facing all modern societies.

In recent years, there has been a growing inclination to re-examine the nineteenth-century Celtic Revival in colonial England. The goal of this study is to discuss the meaning of Celtic Revival through the work of William Butler Yeats. He was a distinguished figure of this movement and a descendant of Anglo-Irish family. He felt the necessity to reconcile the Protestant Ascendancy and the Irish Catholic tradition in his mind. Yeats wrote a famous essay in which he expressed his response to On the Studies of Celtic Literature by Matthew Arnold. Arnold’s writing was important to Yeats because he mystified the Celtic character and introduced the Celtic idea as a differentiating fact between Ireland and England. Arnold attempted to bring about ‘healing measure’ by blending the delicacy and spirituality of the Celtic peoples with ‘Philistinism’of British middle-class. The mystification of the Celt becomes, in effect, the romanticizing of the Irish Catholic in Revivalists. Yeats tried to discover an aristocratic element within the Protestant Ascendancy and to associate this with the spiritual aristocracy of the Catholic and Celtic peasantry in his mind. In the first chapter, the Irish identity under colonialism will be examined. In the second chapter, Arnold’s Celtic essay will be discussed. He admitted the femininity and the spirituality of Irish Celt into the British character. In the last chapter, I will examine Yeats’s prose based on the Celtic material. He knew from O’Grady’s writing that there was the bardic tradition in Ireland. The bard (in Irish file or ollamh) was ‘highly trained in the use of a polished literary medium.’ The monks and even the abbot in the monastery are afraid of a wandering poet’s rhyme in ‘The Crucifixion of the Outcast.’ This is derived from the legend that people in the old Gaelic society were afraid of the satire of the file poet. Finally, his attempt to ennoble the Irish peasantry, as represented in the Irish folklore and legend, can be accounted for by the same logic that Arnold admitted the Celtic sensibility into the national character. This is, at the same time, true of his Ireland he invented in Celtic Revival.

In this paper I examine T. Parsons’s theory of family. Especially I analyze his idea about sex role. He wrote it in his book titled ‘Family’ in 1956. This idea has been criticised by many feminist sociologists from the perspective of gender since 1980s. But in my opinion the criticism is not enogh because feminist sociologists do not explain the reason why sex role is built. According to Shinohara Saburou’s idea I use the theory of capitalism with the connection of the theory of surplus population. From his view women are inclind to be excluded from the labour market as housewife. This is the main reason why sex role is made in capitalist society. I make it clear that Parsons and his feminist critics did not theorize the basis of sex role because they neglect the reality of surplus population out of market or family. Then I emphasize the usefuleness of Parsons’s thory of micro-macro link. On the basis of the theory of surplus population of modern capitalism we can expand the possibility of Parsons’s sociology to the direction of transformation of nuclear family in societal level of society

Through the special collaborative research projects (02-R-154, 05-R-181, 08-R-199) funded by Momoyama Gakuin University Research Institute, a considerably wide-ranging business survey has been ongoing since the second quarter of 2004 with the cooperation of the Sakai City Industial Promotion Center. In this article a brief outline of our activities from April 2005 to March 2008 is given fist, and the result of an econometric analysis based on our survey data is discussed. It was discovered that the movements of some diffusion indices of our local regional economy (the south Osaka area) are significantly different from those of some similar indices in "Tankan", the single largest national business survey in Japan conducted by BOJ. The gap between the local and the national indices is widening, which implies that the local companies are becoming increasingly more pessimistic than the government's official statistics suggest. This discovery shows the significance of our unique business survey and the necessity of inquiring into the economic background to the gap.

In the WWI era, the Japanese economy enjoyed an abnormal boom rised by the war in Europe. Japanese exports increased by enormous scale and brought huge external receipts. Discarding the gold-standard system, the Japanese economy lost the adjusting mechanism which the goldstandard system warranted. The money supply increased and thereby the inflation hit the people's life so that there were riots for shortage of rice in the summer 1918 (Kome-Sodo). This Kome-Sodo riots fall the Terauchi Administration. And after Terauchi, Takashi Hara took office as the first party cabinet in Japan. So the cabinet was changed, but the economic policies were not changed so much. Both administrations took an expansive policies which caused severe inflation and brought an enormous bubble in 1919. The Hara Administration was under control of Hanbatsu fraction. Therefore, Hara could not and would not change the policies (for example, badget) of former administration. That caused disappointment to the party cabinet and democracy in general and paved the way to militarism. This paper dealts with the economic and political causes which lied in desicion process for economic policies in that period by reviewing the newspapers and the journals.

Ryunosuke Akutagawa (1892-1927), one of the major novelists in modern Japan, is also famous as an adapter who learned from other writers in Japan and abroad. His works are considered bookish. Therefore, we assumed that he read many writers' works in his day, and we tried to prove the causality and we attempted to show how these works affected his own writing. In this work we would show some materials of the above facts consisting on the records of "A bibliography of writers who were read by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, based on Akutagawa Ryunosuke Zenshu, published by Iwanami Shoten, Tokyo, 1977-1978, 12 volumes". At next time we will analyze the materials above mentioned. By the way, the bibliography was issued in the March 1996 edition of this journal, vol.21, no.3. Each entry in this index has three items: the writer's name, the title of the work, and the date when Ryunosuke Akutagawa would have read the work. Entries are ordered according to the writer's name in the Japanese syllabary because this index deals with Japanese, Chinese and Korean writers only.
