This paper focuses on how the wartime conditions in Hollywood influenced the development of Hollywood musicals and other films during 1939-1945. The goal is to foreground a historical process in which the musicals had been incorporating the different ideologies of the times,by tracting the relationships between the studios and the political and the economical situations. Under the strong influence of the F.D.Roosevelt's Administration, the Office of War Information attempted to imbue the movies with its political ideas by distributing the Govenment Information Manual for the Motion Picture Industry to the studios. Since the OWI had no power over censorship,the studios ignored the manual. However after mid-1943 when the OWI established a coalition with the Office of Censorship, the studios suddenly became compliant, and more films were molded into what the OWI required: the propaganda of Americanism. In such a circumstance,the musicals had been considered as a mere-trivial-escapist-entertainment among the OWI and the studios. Nonetheless, it is impossible to disregard the changes of the wartime musicals. The musicals also interwove the politically different ideologies with their conventional formars, and could be functioning as the powerful propaganda during the war by reproducting the utopian images of Americanism.

We present a complete mitochondrial genomic sequence for the tanaidacean Arctotanais alascensis (Richardson, 1899); this is the first complete mitogenome reported from the order Tanaidacea. The mitogenome is 13,988 bp long and contains 13 protein coding and two ribosomal RNA genes (as is typical for animal mitogenomes), and 21 of 22 transfer RNAs; we did not detect an isoleucine transfer RNA (trnI) gene. The gene order differed markedly from the hypothetical ground pattern for Pancrustacea; only four clusters (trnM + nad2; trnC + trnY + cox1 + trnL2 + cox2; trnD + atp8 + atp6 + cox3; trnH + nad4 + nad4l) ancestrally present were retained. In a malacostracan phylogenetic tree reconstructed from mitogenome data, basal relationships were marginally supported or incongruent with the traditional morphology-based classification and the latest phylogenetic reconstructions from large transcriptomic datasets. Relationships involving more recent divergences were better supported in our tree, suggesting that complete mitogenome sequences are more suitable for phylogenetic analyses within malacostracan orders, presumably including Tanaidacea.

I discuss the propagation of very low frequency infrasound that come from volcanic eruptions from near surface to the ionosphere based on the observations of GNSS-TEC, broadband seismometers and barometers. Infrasound or some other atmospheric wave under ~10 mHz can reach to the ionosphere and shake the ionized atmosphere. For example, a great earthquake induces not only ground motions or tsunamis but also atmospheric perturbations and some of them propagate upward to the ionosphere. Such waves are interpreted as the acoustic modal wave, the tsunamigenic gravity wave or the atmospheric wave coupled to the seismic Rayleigh wave. Ionospheric perturbations by volcanic eruptions are also sometimes reported. In my master thesis written in 2015, I discussed the ionospheric disturbances made by the 2014 Kelud volcano eruption. It induced acoustic trap mode by continuous eruption. In the thesis, I would introduce the investigation about the propagation of the atmospheric disturbance by the 2015 Kuchinoerabujima eruption. I analyzed 1 Hz sampled GNSS-TEC time series, broadband seismograms and barograms installed around the volcano. The features of the ionospheric disturbances observed in the two case are totally different. I can confirm again with more assurance that the difference comes from the sequence of the volcanic eruptions.

Ecological distribution of Tylos granuliferus (Isopoda) was researched at several stations on the sandy-beach of Jougashima in Kanagawa Prefecture, Central Japan from July to November 2003. Their distribution differences were seen between summer and autumn seasons. Physical factors such as temperature, moisture and tide can be influencing the distribution of Tylos granuliferus in the sandy-beach environment.
