The purpose of this study is to clarify what factors affect both the intentions and obstructions experienced for university staff members considering going to graduate school. In recent years with the advancement and specialization of jobs at higher education institutions, several graduate courses for university staff have been established. However, while some staff go to graduate school, the majority do not. This paper aim to explore the causes for this difference. A secondary analysis using the data from the “National University Administrative Staff Survey” was performed. The study found significant differences among several factors (age, presence / absence of knowledge to be learned, intention to take other learning opportunities, fields of interest, etc.) between those who had the intention to go to graduate school and those who did not. Similarly, there were significant differences among several factors that related to the work environment between those who felt obstructed to go to graduate school and those who did not. An analysis was performed to discern whether the intention of going to graduate school had relation with individual’s perceived obstructive factors, yet no significant difference was related to individual intention. These results suggest the necessity to explore various measures more thoroughly such as methods to promote learning from an early stage, to communicate with employees to give them clear indication for career path, and to improve the work environment.

本研究は、個人の自発的な学習が大学職員の職能開発(Staff Development:SD)においてどのように扱われているかについて、先行研究の検討を行うことを目的とする。自己啓発には様々な種類があり、大学院進学はその一つである。しかし社会人大学院等への進学は、コストが高く、進学に際して所属する組織からネガティブに受け止められることもある。それにも関わらず大学院進学を選ぶということは、自発的に学ぶ理由付けが最も確立されていると考えられる。そこで、社会人や大学職員の大学院等への進学に関する先行研究を量的研究と質的研究の二つに区分し、自発的な学びがどのように扱われているかを検討した。先行研究では、大学院等への進学を説明する諸要因(学習の動機、理由、行動等)や学びのプロセスは挙げられているが、学びを含む様々な事象についての当人の意味づけという点は着目されていないことが分かった。当人の主観的な意味づけを把握するアプローチとして、例えば生活史調査を用いた個人レベルの調査が今後必要とされるであろう。The purpose of this study is to review previous research on how independent learning is handled in university staff development. There are various kinds of self-development, and studying at graduate school is one of them. However, studying at graduate school as a method of self-development requires large amounts of money and time. Moreover, employers and co-workers may have negative ideas about an adult’s studying at graduate school. Therefore, adults who study at graduate school should have a strong reason. In this study, I divided the previous research concerning adult learners in graduate school into two: quantitative and qualitative studies. Then, I examined how independent learning is referred to in the previous research. The previous research points out such factors as motivation, reasoning, and learners’ behavior in the learning process. However, the previous research, in general, does not focus on how learners interpret various things involved in learning. The study results recommend that approaches to understanding the learners’ interpretation, for example a life-history survey, should form the basis for future research.

三次元屈曲チャネル内での流体層の分割,180°回転,再合流・重ね合せを組み合わせて流体を多層化する静止型マイクロミキサーの単位エレメントの構成則を求め,それに基づいてY字分岐と120°と60°の屈曲チャネルからなるY型平板静止マイクロミキサーを開発した.正方形のチャネル断面をもつY型ミキサーを用いてヨウ素の脱色実験を行い,混合完了に必要な単位エレメント数<i>n</i>を測定した.レイノルズ数<i>Re</i>が低い場合には<i>n</i>は<i>Re</i>の増加とともに増加した.1単位エレメント通過ごとに厚さが1/2となる流体層内の混合過程をモデル化し,<i>n</i>を表す関数関係を導出し,この関係に基づいて<i>Re</i>が低い場合の<i>n</i>の実験結果を相関した.<i>Re</i>が高い場合,<i>Re</i>の増加とともに<i>n</i>は減少した.この場合の<i>n</i>については上記の関数に用いられる変数を用いて実験的に相関した.<i>Re</i>を50まで変化させてCFD解析を行い,<i>Re</i>の影響を調べた結果,<i>Re</i>=50では流体層は三次元屈曲チャネル内で発生する二次流によって大きく変形していることがわかった.この界面の変形が混合速度を加速させ,<i>n</i>を減少させる.さらに,ミキサーを構成するチャネルのアスペクト比<i>a</i>/<i>b</i>の影響をCFD計算によって検討した.<i>a</i>/<i>b</i>が2.0以上では流体界面の湾曲が大きく,<i>a</i>/<i>b</i>が0.2以下では分岐チャネルで流体が均一に分割されない.したがって,本研究で開発した平板静止型ミキサーにおいて理想的な流体層の分割・再合流を進行させるためには,できるだけ正方形に近いアスペクト比をもつ流路断面を採用することが望ましい.
