In this study, we will focus on the “Sea Cat Study Abroad System”, which has a 22-year history of actually operating the studying abroad island system. As a result, it is worth noting that children’s daily life and school life are not completed only at home or school, but are carried out throughout the region, so that learning and experiences that can not be obtained only at home or school can be obtained. The actual situation was caught. However, there are problems with the adoption of foster parents, such as the aging of the foster parents.

Architectural planning and operation of latest advanced schools for special needs education in Korea were studied. The schools were characterized by specialized programs for vocational education and had well equipped facilities for training. Differences from Japanese schools were found in class formation policy, allocation of classrooms, and strategies to respond to increase in the number of students. The schools were facing shortage of classrooms and had made conversions. They planned to control the number of student intake to avoid further shortages. This differed from Japanese schools that cope with the situation by having multiple classes share a classroom.

Frequency and patterns of use of shared multi-purpose spaces in open-plan schools were studied. Effects of environmental conditions categorized in two kinds, given conditions individual teachers do not have control over and user-set conditions teachers as building users determine, were analyzed. Purposes of and ways of arranging the use of multi-purpose spaces differed between teachers using the space more/less frequently. Teachers who used the space more often used the space not only for activities that require larger spaces but also to break down class sizes. Multi-purpose spaces were used less when there were more classes sharing the space. There was a strong correlation between furniture layout and frequency of use. When the furniture was set to articulate the space and provide more affordances, the space was used more often. Use of multi-purpose spaces was affected by the given conditions and in turn, user-set conditions and habitual use patterns within the given situation reciprocally encouraged (or discouraged) the use of spaces.

Activities and space-use in today's Danish folkeskoler are reported following a brief review of the history of architectural planning offolkeskoler. On-site observations of learning situations in classrooms and common room locals were conducted in four schools of different plan types. Analyses of space use patterns, studying combinations between contents of activities and spatial settings, showed that there was much individual or group differentiated work which mostly took place in normal class teaching settings in contrast with Japanese open-schools where often any type of individual or group work takes place in non-classroom settings. The patterns suggest that space was used according to practical needs of the task in the Danish cases rather than the size of instructional groups as is often the case in Japanese schools. The paper is concluded by a discussion on spatiality, cultural patterns in relations with space, as a factor for the difference in space-use.

場所愛着に関する研究はいくつかあるが、いずれも戸建を中心とした住宅や古い既成住宅地域を対象とした研究である。本研究では、戦後郊外に面開発されてきた比較的新しい計画住宅団地とその周辺地域に対する愛着の醸成について考察する。同一県内に異なる時期に開発され、計画の異なる2つの住宅地を対象とし、居住者の大人と子どもにプレイス・アタッチメントを問う計量的・質的調査を行った。その結果、住民の入居時期と年齢層によって異なる愛着の状態が形成されている実相を示し、それを反映した研究手法が地域のプレイス・アタッチメント研究に今後求められることを明らかにした。
