平成19年度に行った九州歯科大学研究室配属のアンケート調査および平成18年度・19年度の研究室配属資料を基に解析を行った.88%の学生が第一希望に配属され,第2希望までに97%の学生が配属された.各分野の学生受け入れ体制に対しては72%がよく計画されていたと回答した.80%の学生は教員の研究室配属に対して熱意があったと感じており,98%の学生が多少なりとも興味を持って研究を行ったと回答した.研究テーマに興味をもてたかという設問と教官の熱意を感じたかという設問との間には強い相関が認められた.さらに研究テーマに興味を持ったことと文献などを積極的に調べたかとの設問の間にも強い相関が認められた.このように,学生は教員の教育意欲に対して敏感に反応しており,それによって研究テーマに一層興味を示し,文献検索などを自ら進んで行うことがわかった.逆に教員が熱意を示さない場合には,学生は研究に興味を示さないことが考えられた.また,基礎系の研究室にだけに配属が限られていた基礎配属から,九州歯科大学の全研究室に配属が可能となった研究室配属にカリキュラムが変更になって,学生が臨床系の研究室に偏って配属されるのではないかと懸念されたが,大きな偏りは認められなかった.

高齢者のパノラマX線写真上で検出された茎状突起の長さ及び形状の臨床的意義を検討する。8020データバンク構築の疫学調査で集められた659名の80歳のパノラマX線写真を対象に茎状突起の長さの計測及び形状のパターン分類を行った。被検者の全身状態に関する各種データ(骨密度、血圧、心電図の異常の存在、心拍数、血清カルシウム値及び身体的スタミナ)に関して、茎状突起の長さとの間で関連性の有無を検討した。80歳における茎状突起の長さはパノラマX線写真上0.0 mm から153.0 mmで左右には有意差はなく、男女間では有意差を示した。形状のパターンは、MacDonald-Jankowskiの分類中、パターンEに属するものが、次いでパターンDに属するものが多く認められたが、男女間に有意差はなかった。茎状突起の長さと各種データに関する関連性は、血清カルシウム値と骨密度に関連性を示し、他には明らかな関連性はなかった。高齢者のパノラマX線写真を読影する上で我々歯科医は茎突舌骨靱帯の骨化に伴う茎状突起の変化について把握しておく必要がある。同時に、顕著な骨化を来している症例は血清カルシウム値の上昇を意味する可能性があることを考慮しておくべきである。

本症例は, 慢性歯周炎広汎型の患者で, 歯周基本治療により, 咬合機能が改善された際, functional MRI(fMRI)のBOLD(blood oxygeneration level dependent)信号で咬合状態の改善を示す信号変化が確認されたので報告する。患者は60歳女性で, 全顎的な歯周治療を希望して来院した。既往歴は, 高脂血症である。臨床診査およびX線診査によって, 慢性歯周炎広汎型と診断した。歯周基本治療は, Tooth Brushing Instruction, Scaling, Root planingのみとし, 咬合調整は一切行わなかった。患者の同意を得て, 初診時と再評価時に, 咬合力の診査とfMRIを撮影した。初診時のfMRIでは, 噛み締め時に, 弱いBOLD信号を片側大脳皮質一次体性感覚野のみに認めた。歯周基本治療を行うと, 歯周組織, 咬合力の改善を認めた。同時に, fMRIによる脳血流を示すBOLD信号は, 左右対称性を示すと同時に増加傾向を認めた。<BR>この結果は, 慢性歯周炎広汎型の患者に対する歯周基本治療により片側のみの弱い咬合から両側性の強い咬合状態に変化したことをfMRIによりとらえた可能性を示唆する。<BR>日本歯周病学会会誌(日誌周誌)50(2) : 121-128, 2008

<B>Background:</B> To provide oral healthcare for patients of all ages, dental welfare environments and technical aspects of dentistry have evolved and developed and dental education must also diversify. Student-centered voluntary education and establishment of a life-long self-learning environment are becoming increasingly important in the changing world of dental education. In this article, we introduce a new process for the construction of a web-mediated database containing internet-based teaching files on the normal radiological anatomy of panoramic radiographs and CT images of the oral and maxillofacial regions, as well as a system for the delivery of visual learning materials through an intra-faculty local network. This process was developed by our 5<SUP>th</SUP>-year undergraduate students.<BR><B>Methods:</B> Animated CT scan images were produced using Macintosh Iphoto and Imovie animation software. Normal anatomical images of panoramic radiographs and CT scans were produced using Adobe Illustrator CS and Adobe Photoshop CS. The web database was constructed using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and Microsoft Internet Explorer. This project was the basis of our participation in the Student Clinician Research Program (SCRP).<BR><B>Results:</B> At Kyushu Dental College, we developed a new series of teaching files on the web. Uploading these teaching files to the internet allowed many individuals to access the information. Viewers can easily select the area of study that they wish to examine.<BR><B>Conclusions:</B> These processes suggest that our laboratory practice is a useful tool for promoting students' motivation and improving life-long self learning in dental radiology. We expect that many medical and dental students, practitioners and patients will be able to use our teaching files to learn about the normal radiological anatomy of the oral and maxillofacial regions.

The aim of this study was to elucidate the significance and problems of Kyushu Dental College Hospital as a key hospital for neighborhood dental offices. We sent out questionnaires to 322 dentists in neighboring dental offices. Within 2 weeks, we received the questionnaires by mail, and analyzed them. A total of 128 questionnaires were returned (response rate, 40%). Of the respondents, 89% had attended dental-related lectures within the previous year. A total of 95% of respondents had at least one patient a year for whom they could not carry out the care alone. The majority of these patients received care related to oral surgery, and 67% of these patients were transported to Kyushu Dental College Hospital. The major reason for choosing Kyushu Dental College Hospital was that the dentists working there had good skills and also had personal communication with the referring dentists. Systematic improvement and skill preparedness in all departments, and in particular, oral surgery, and establishment of personal communication between our hospital's dentists and dentists in neighborhood dental offices should lead to success for our hospital and for neighborhood dental offices.
