松平定信は致仕後,自らを楽翁と号し浴恩園の整備を進め,そこにハスの品種を多数集め,それを観賞し,蓮譜『清香譜』を完成させている。それまでは,ハスの品種観念も曖昧で,品種数も数種とり上げられているたすぎなかったが,『清香譜』では九十余種記載されていたといわれ,蓮譜史上,画期的な意義を有する。しかし,その『清香譜』は戦後,散逸し,その実像は明らかでない。また,翁のハスの観賞についても,その実態についてはほとんど知られていない。そこで,本稿では,楽翁のハスの観賞の態度・あり様について,また,その大きな事績である『清香譜』について考察するものである。

わが国前近代のハスの観照の歴史的な変遷をみ, 1) 上代では, ハスへの観照がみられるが, 中国からの影響の大きい, 女性, 恋愛などの寓意性をもった人事中心のものであること, 2) 中古では, ハスの植物や生態などの特性がよく観察され, それを基礎にした植物や, 釈教, 人事上の事柄について観照されていること, 3) 中世では現実的, 実践的な性格を強め, ハスは環境との連係を強め, 空間, 時間, 音響などの再構成された, 複合的な事象の中で, それらとの連関において観照されていること, 4) 近世では, 前代の現実的指向, 環境との連係の傾向をいっそう強め, その植物や生態等の特性に即したものとなり, 釈教的な観照はほとんどみられなくなっていること等をみた。

In these studies series, the author tries to inquire into the formative and developmental process of the <I>Hiyokechi-Hiroba</I> (the <I>Square</I> mediated by the open space for the fire prevention) of the city <I>Edo</I> as the public <I>Square</I> in the feudal age of Edo in order to know the same process of the <I>Square</I> in the feudal age in Japan.<BR>In this report (2), the latter half age of the <I>Edojidai</I> is dealted with, and the followings are studied.<BR>1. The third stage (from the age <I>Enkyo</I> 4 to the age of the <I>H&ocirc;reki</I>)<BR>The populace's overheated recreational uses on the <I>Hiyokechi</I> asks the feudal lord sides to reconsider the original character of it.<BR>And they try to define it as the open space for the fire prevention.<BR>2. The fourth stage (from the age <I>Meiwa</I> to the last days of the shogunate)<BR>Nevertheless, the populace's deep-rooted recreational uses on it puts into disorder their intention by degrees. And then the <I>Hiyokechi</I> is charged with the character of the receational open space again.

This is a study of the open spaces in which peasants' aprising are rasied in the feudal age of <I><B>Edo</B></I> in order to know the character of some open spaces as <I><B>Square</B></I> (the first report).<BR>In chapter 1, it is pointed out that the peasants' uprising in the feudal age of Edo is firmly based on the <I><B>Agrargemeinde</B></I>, and therefore, the places in and by which the members ofthe <I><B>Agrargemein wesen</B></I> are able to concentrate physically and Spiritually will be needed.<BR>Some such places corresponding to the introduction to the finale of peasants' uprising, are studied in chapter 2.

We got many photographs of private garden at the suburb residence area by door-to-door survey, sampled at random using detailed residence maps, in Yokohama Aoba in Japan, Reading and Edinburgh in UK, Torino in Italy and Freising in Germany. We selected 100 residences and choose four photographs in each residence to represent the whole garden atmosphere. Making 22 Japanese agricultural faculty students of the University of Tokyo to be an examinee, the experiment to discriminate country of garden landscape was carried out looking at four sets of photographs of 100 private gardens. This experiment carried out two times placed the interval in six months, to the identical examinee. In the second experiments, photographs of 39 residences were altered by image processing to eliminate objects such as utility poles, chairs and so on, that were thought to give the effect to discriminate country. Assessment of private garden landscape by SD methods of ten items was also carried out one time. It was shown that Japanese students could rightly detect private gardens in Japan, though they could not distinguish gardens in UK, Italy and Germany. Some objects gave the effect to distinguish country in private gardens in Japan. There existed some images to those countries, such that the (familiar) garden with globose pruning was Japanese, the (unfamiliar) garden with lawn was Foreign or England, the (natural) garden with high trees was Germany, the (artificial) garden with paving was Italy.

In this study, the author tries to inquire into the formative and developmental processes of the village shrines as the public squares in ordrer to know the same processes of the squares in the feudal age in Japan.<BR>In chapter 2, the changed characters of <I>Chinju on mori</I>, which they must have underwent on occasion of growing the village public open spaces, are studied in the case of the <I>Hino shrine</I> in the Mannor <I>Kaivaraba yashi</I>.<BR>However, the formation of the <I>Chinju on mori</I> does not mean that all the members of the village are able to join it. In this study, the author suppose that the development of the squares should mean morse members joining in it.<BR>And in chapter 3, the developmental processes ari tried to be studied through the medium of the organ zation of <I>Miyaza</I> which is apt to close most.

This is a study on the spaces as the Squares in the Middle ages.In part 2, the relations of the Spaces as the Squares and the formative process of the socioeconomic conditions which the Squares are able to exist on are studied.In part 3, the examples of such spaces such as the courtyard places, the riding grounds, the precincts of the shrines and the temples and the market places are tried to be studied.

蓮は古来,紅蓮,白蓮などとその花色によって分けて呼ばれるように,色彩に大きな関心がもたれてきた。蓮の花色には花弁,雄ずい,花托などの要素が関与し,それら全体によって独特の色あいを呈するが,今回は,そのうちでも大きな要因をなすとみられる花弁を取り上げ,それを拡散照明受光方式による色彩色差計により測定し,L^*a^*b^*表色系による色彩空間を求め,1)品種(間),2)開花経過日数(間),3)着弁位置(間)におけるその実態の把握を行った。
