Objectives: To clarify the performance of health systems (performance), the state of prefectures was investigated.Methods: Using the method developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, we conducted the study using 27 indicators. To evaluate the performance, we examined the signal-to-noise ratio of transcription (η) by integrating indicators using the Mahalanobis-Taguchi method. The η was separated by a median. The ratio of prefectures in East or West Japan and the presence or absence of ordinance-designated cities were studied using the chi-square test. Furthermore, the correlation among the total component η (T-η), each component η, and expenditures, and the correlation between T-η and life expectancy, were studied.Results: The T-η positively correlated with the risk factors (RF)-η and the resources (R)-η, and negatively correlated with the health status (HS)-η. The number pf prefectures without ordinance-designated cities where the T-η and RF-η exceeded the median was large. The number of prefectures with ordinance-designated cities where the HS-η exceeded the median was also large. In addition, there were many prefectures where the T-η was in the top 25% in West Japan. There were positive correlations between the total expenditures and the T-η, the expenditures and the RF-η, and the expenditures and the R-η. There was a negative correlation between the expenditures and the HS-η, and the T-η and the life expectancy.Conclusions: For life expectancy, prefectures with too good performance were recognized. In these prefectures, correction of resources is necessary.

When developing machining processes, it is necessary to select the optimum machining conditions (such as tool conditions, cutting speed or feeding speed), as well as select an efficient machine and process to be used. Quality engineering methodology recommends evaluating the performance of machining milling or drilling processes by directly or indirectly observing the energy consumption. In this study, the evaluation of machining a stainless steel part was made by measuring the total power consumption of the main motor. However, the gain was not very reproducible. Therefore, the variation of the energy consumed during idling time was included in evaluation. The results showed a good reproducibility of gain. Under the optimum conditions, the dimensions after machining were uniform and the surface roughness was also improved.

Due to the automation that accompanies technological progress and the development of substitute materials, traditional techniques that have been handed down orally or preserved by the apprentice system are now falling into disuse. In particular, many techniques that depend on craftsmen's skills and experience and many traditional techniques that have been replaced by other techniques due to high cost seem to be on the way out. Quality engineering methods were used to recreate clay plastered TATAKI floors, which have been used in Japan since before the Edo Period but are vanishing because of the development of newer construction materials and simplification of construction methods.

One method of evaluating functions in quality engineering is transferability. In injection molding technology in particular, transferability expresses uniform filling of the mold with resin, which is a fundamental or 'intrinsic' function, but it is also positioned as a target function that considers only visible results such as dimensions, and this yields an inadequate grasp of the function. There nevertheless remains a stubborn demand for transferability evaluation in manufacturing processes other than injection molding, and in image processing and the like. The transferability approach was therefore taken in the present study,which applied Mahalanobis-Taguchi methods to a case with only one set of unit space data to reconsider the results a former injection molding parameter design, with the object of demonstrating transferability evaluation and its usefulness from the viewpoint of the Mahalanobis-Taguchi system.

企業の与信を評価する際に,定性スコアリングシートを使用する場合がある。そのとき,定性的な評価に対して客観性を持たせることと,また与信を正しく評価可能とする尺度を与えることが課題であった。またスコアリングシートは評価項目が多いために,定量的な尺度で総合評価することが望ましいといえる。ここではスコアの配列を一種のパターンとして捉え,スコアから総合パターンの値を求める方法に品質工学のマハラノビスの距離を用いた。またパターンの規則性を可視化するために直交表の適用を図った。その結果,36項目の定性スコアを一元化した数値で求められ,また直交表から得られる要因効果図で,潜在構造を可視化することを達成した。

Using health forecasts made with the Mahalanobis distance from the results of health checkups over a two-year period, medical examination items were selected, an economic evaluation was carried out by a loss function, and the potential for reducing costs was verified. The functional limit △0, costA, lossA0, and distance tolerance △ were determined. As a result, from the value of Δ obtained by economic calculation of the loss function, it became evident that 1.5 was an appropriate threshold value for distinguishing healthy from unhealthy individ uals. This was also confirmed from the results of calculation of the standard S/N ratio. When threshold values were studied and examination items were selected on the basis of these results, one small enterprise was able to reduce its costs by 10 million yen, and the results suggested that healthy/unhealthy diagnoses could be made from health checkup data for two or three years without a medical examination by a doctor.

Liquid chromatographic/(LC) analysis is an effective instrument for pharmaceutical analysisand pharmaceutical science. Various methods have been utilized in attempts to optimize LC analytical conditions. ln order to obtain a high degree of separation, the optimum conditions were determined by the use of dynamic S/N ratio as an index for the evaluation of the separation process. An L18 orthogonal array was used in this experiment. lt was demonstrated that S/N ratio was an appropriate scale to indicate the separation of some peaks in a LC. Also, the appropriate types of S/N ratio to show the degree of separation in a LC was discussed.

Generally, a liquid chromatography (LC) is widely used in the field of a chemical and a pharmaceutical analysis. On account of many advances of a modern technique of the instrumental analysis and the appearance of high resolution column, a chemical analysis and a quantitative analysis are done more accurately than before. However, it seems that the determination of the analytical condition is mostly performed empirically. ln development of a new drug research, LC is an indispensable tool for the analysis of the chemical components, and so it is important to get the analytical conditions which is able to performed high degree of the separation. This paper describes that the parameter design was conductedto optimize the analytical condition of a LC. The experiments were conducted on the L₁₈ orthogonal array. Evaluation was done by the S/N ratio and sensitivity in comparison withthe current condition. The optimum condition was determined from the control factor levels which gave the large values of a S/N ratio and sensitivity S. As a result, an improvement was estimated as 3.32db in a S/N ratio. lt seems that this method can be widely applicableto the determination of the analytical conditions of a LC.
