Studies of wearable computers have attracted public attention in these days. And one of the area of interest is the communication system adopted in those wearable computers. As anexample, wearable devices which use the human body as a transmission channel, have been developed. This communication system uses near field region of the electromagnetic wave generated by the device which is eventually coupled to human body by electrodes. However, little is known about the transmission mechanism of such devices in the physical layer. In this paper, we proposed calculation model of the transmitter attached to the arm of whole body in radio anechoic chamber using the FDTD method. From this model, we estimated the electric field distribution around the human body.

The 3-dimensional(3-d) frequency [horizontal-vertical-temporal frequency] domain can be understood easily and directly by the newly proposed SZB(Spherical Zone Ball), which is the direct extension of the 2-d CZP(Circular Zone Plate) to the 3-d one. This paper also proposes the direct-observing method of the 3-d frequency characteristics.

We propose a method for cross-fading of JPEG2000 encoded images. The main feature of the method is that memory usage with the cross-fading operation is lower than that of conventional methods. In this paper, firstly, problems on applying cross-fading operation to JPEG2000 compressed images are discussed. Then the method based on the code-block is proposed. The code-block is known as a coding unit of JPEG2000 coding system and it is defined as a rectangular region in DWT domain. Finally, we provide some simulations and also verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A relay system with equalization and symbol decision techniques has been developed to overcome the accumulation of deterioration signals in multi-stage relay routes. The CN ratio of the output signal of this system is beyond 40dB. Performance of this system against the multipath was measured in indoor experiments. The result of measurements shows that this system is significantly useful for broadcast wave multi-stage relay.

Conventional converters without motion compensation tend to exhibit double images and other picture-quality problems when handling scenes that contain motion.We develop a compact and lightweight PAL-HDTV standard converter which converts directly between PAL and HDTV.Accurate motion vector detection is achieved by two-way motion detection for smooth transitioning.

In 2000, the authors developed an image sensor and a video camera of 1,000,000 fps. The image sensor was an in-situ storage image sensor (ISIS) with slanted linear CCD storage. Possible structures for the next-generation ISIS are discussed. A backside-illuminated ISIS is one of the promising structures.

Research and development of the stratospheric platform (SPF) has been aggressively pursued. SPF is useful for wireless communications, broadcasting and scientific observations. Although stably control of the SPF is difficult by means of strong wind in the stratosphere. In this paper, we described the wind velocity in the stratosphere, and proposed new operation method of the SPF.

This paper presents development of a wide color gamut CRT display monitor that has 93[%] color gamut compare to NTSC color gamut. It provides the color gamut nearly equal to the Adobe RGB color space. In this paper we would like to report about a prototype of wide color gamut CRT display monitor. We compared color gamut of our prototype vs. a major standard color patches. And more we checked about the gamut change accrording to the viewing angle. We believe that our monitor is useful for soft proofing of DTP as replacement of conventional CRT displays.
