In recent years, along with the popularization of SNS, the incidents, which are called flaming, that the number of negative comments surges are on the increase. This becomes a problem for companies because flamings hurt companies reputation. In order to minimalize the damage of reputation, we propose the method that detects flamings by estimating the sentiment polarities of SNS comments. Because of the unique SNS characteristics such as repetition of same comments, the polarities of words are sometimes wrongly estimated. To alleviate this problem, transfer learning is introduced. In this research, the sentiment polarities of words are trained in every domain. This will enable to extract the words that are domain-specific and dictate the polarity of comments. These words are occurred in retweets. Transfer learning is implemented to non-extracted words by averaging the occurrence probabilities in other domains. These processes keep the polarities of important words that dictate the polarity of comments and modify the wrongly estimated polarities of words. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the performance of estimating the sentiment polarity of comments. Moreover, flamings can be detected without missing by monitoring time course of the number of negative comments.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a fuzzy reasoning control law for an inverted pendulum system by the aid of the theory of variable structure systems (VSS). The cascade architecture of two fuzzy controllers is used for considering of interation with the cart. The stability of the control systems is investigated by the reachability and the existence conditions for the sliding mode. The simulation and experimental results are given to demonstrate the validity of our design method.

This paper demonstrates the impact of tilted Mg ion implantation for the threshold voltage control of GaN MISFETs for the first time. The threshold voltage of the MISFETs by using Mg implantation shifts up to -1 V, whereas that without Mg ion implantation is about -8 V. The GaN MISFET achieved maximum drain current of 165 mA/mm and an extrinsic transconductance of 30 mS/mm. These results indicate a definite availability of our process in normally-off GaN MISFETs for power switching device applications.

A new electroabsorption modulator operating at a parallel electric-field to the quantum wells is proposed and its modulation characteristics have been calculated. Transverse p-i-n structure on semi-insulating substrate enables us to apply a parallel field for MQW layers and results in low device capacitance and high-speed operation. The exciton resonance can easily broaden and disappear at field-intensity of 10<sup>4</sup> V/cm, one tenth of the perpendicular field previously used. A 3-dB bandwidth and operation voltage required for 20 dB extinction ratio are estimated to be over 250 GHz and less than 1 V, respectively, with transmission loss of less than 3 dB. High allowability of high incidental optical power and negative chirp operation are also discussed for this structure.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm based on Thymus Learning System (TLS) for elucidating an emergence of complexity generation which an elongation system generates with the self-nonself recognition mechanism. TLS has the immunological tolerance as an incorporation of non-self. TLS shows various interesting features from the viewpoint of the information engineernings such as immunological memory and tolerance, pattern recognition. We present that our immune system provides a suitable methology for a complexity emergent problem of the self-defense process in evolution.

<p>Mathematical simulation is utilized to visualize the invisible phenomena, such as distribution of temperature and/or stress in a concerning object, by using properly structuralized nodes on each grid point of the orthogonal coordinate system. Here, the close-packed nodes with same effective radius are set on the vertex of regular tetrahedrons. Thus, the mathematical simulation calculating the interactions among nodes can be appropriately performed on the newly proposed coordinate system, which consists of continuous connection of regular tetrahedrons with six basic lattices. Then, the regular tetrahedron lattice coordinate system is well confirmed for the description of definite nodes having interaction with their neighboring ones.</p>

In this paper, we propose a neuro-classification method of the new and used bills using time-series acoustic data. The technique used here is based on an extension of an adaptive digital filter (ADF) by Widrow and the error back-propagation method. Two-stage ADFs are used to detect the desired acoustic data of bill from noisy input data. In the first stage, superfluous signals are eliminated from input signals and in the next stage, only the desired acoustic data is detected from output signal of the two-stage ADFs. The output signal of two-stage ADFs is transformed into spectral data to produce an input pattern to a neural network (NN). The NN is used to discriminate the new and used bills. It is shown that the experimental result using two-stage ADFs is better than that obtained by using original observation data.

A main problem with dynamical associative memories (DAMs) is that when memory patterns are stored, pseudo-memories (false fixed points and limit cycles) are also generated and they hinder proper association of input patterns. To overcome this problem, Hassoun proposed a heuristic method of reducing pseudo-memories. In this method, DAMs are constructed such that a zero vector called &ldquo;ground state&rdquo; as well as stored patterns is stabilized and sparsely activated states (sparse patterns) converge to the ground state. Such dynamical properties of neural networks can be described with linear inequalities, and connection weights of networks are obtained by solving these inequalities using the Ho-Kashyap algorithm. In this paper, we propose an extended Hassoun model in which network dynamics are modified such that dense patterns, mix-ture patterns and inhibition patterns are also converged to the ground state. In simulations, we compare association performance of this extended Hassoun model with conventional associative memory models, and demonstrate the usefulness of our proposed model as a dynamical associative memory.

This paper deals with modified scheduling problems in manufacturing systems. Recently optimization is required for not only basic scheduling problems but also scheduling problems modified in such a way that some constraints are added or are removed. Genetic algorithm (GA) is considered to be a promising method for solving the modified scheduling problems, because change of the procedure is small for the modification. In GA the problems can be solved only by adding (removing) the modules related to the added (removed) constraints. In this paper, a module type GA (MTGA) is proposed based on this idea, and the MTGA is designed for solving a mixed problem of machine scheduling and worker allocation. In a factory, both skillful workers and untrained workers work together, and the efficiency of operations depends on the allocation of workers to machines. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is investigated through a numerical result for a job-shop scheduling problem.

<p>Today we can take many pictures with smart phones or digital cameras, and can edit them easily by ourselves. These pictures are very useful not only for hobby, but for investigation. It is very important to check whether they are doctored or not. This paper proposes an automatic detection method of doctored JPEG images based on two different analyisis: the block noise analysis and the Double-JPEG analysis. Former can find unnatural boundaries of 8×8 DCT blocks while latter can find double saved images by other editing software. Finally SVM classifies images into doctored and undoctored groups based on the above analysis. Experimental results have shown that the detection accuracy of our method achieves 0.90 in terms of F-measure while J. He's method achieves 0.82.</p>

For embedded systems, concurrency is required to respond to various changes in real world. Real-time processing is required also, because the response typically has a time limit. The concurrency is implemented by processing Tasks or Interrupt Service Routines (ISRs) concurrently. And the necessity of mutual exclusion arises in concurrent processing, to maintain integrity of shared data. Task execution is scheduled by Real-time OS (RTOS), and mutual exclusion is serviced by semaphore. However approximately 30% of embedded systems do not use RTOS. These systems have no notion of Tasks, and are purely driven by ISRs. As the sole mutual exclusion method between ISRs, a pair of interrupt disable/enable instructions provided by CPU is used in these systems. This method enables a lower priority ISR to protect its critical section from higher priority ISRs, but it also defers execution of unrelated ISRs as it disables all external interrupts. We have resolved this timing issue with an ISR-callable semaphore, but that design was not priority inversion safe. Namely a middle priority ISR may indirectly block a higher priority ISR if this higher priority ISR waits for a semaphore from a lower priority ISR, because the lower priority ISR can be preempted by the middle priority ISR. Priority inheritance is an effective protection method against this priority inversion problem, and it is expected to improve real-time performance of OS-less embedded systems. This paper proposes an ISR-callable priority inheritance semaphore which protects ISRs from priority inversion using hardware interrupt mechanism.

We propose a high security facial recognition system using a cellular phone on the mobile network. This system is composed of a face recognition engine based on optical phase correlation which uses phase information with emphasis on a Fourier domain, a control sever and the cellular phone with a compact camera for taking pictures, as a portable terminal. Compared with various correlation methods, our face recognition engine revealed the most accurate EER of less than 1%. By using the JAVA interface on this system, we implemented the stable system taking pictures, providing functions to prevent spoofing while transferring images. This recognition system was tested on 300 women students and the results proved this system effective.
