This paper explores the intersection of animal ethics with European and American feminism. Feminist theory and activism tried to liberate women and animals from oppression. The feminist care tradition in ethics developed as an alternative to the rights-based theory of justice. A caring approach is useful in animal ethics. Feminist caring ethics aims to have a compassionate insight directed toward compassionate action. This feminist theory has culture-contextual advantage. However, it is doubtful whether feminist theory involves universal and inclusive compassion toward enemies, wildlife, and destructive animals.

This paper described the history of Kaifengfu and Jew people. North Sung(北宋) age,Jews arrived at China from the west and lived at Kaifengfu(開封府). Up to now for about about 1000 years, they keep living in eastern area of this city. They were the city people who made the commerce a bread-and-butter job. In Ming era(明代), Kaifengfu prospered as a local city in particular. A Jewish community also prospered during the time. In 1644, a deluge of the Yellow River has destroyed their synagogue.it was possible to make it revive by the power of the community. Economy of Kaifengfu was depression in the modern times(afrer 1842). Jewish community also declined at the same time, and religious consciousness was being also lost.

We measured the transmittance of filters and the substitutes for direct observation of the sun, from 2009 to 2012. In this paper, we report the results of the measurements in detail. This paper gives fundamental data for observing solar eclipses safely.

The purpose of the paper is to examine Miyazawa's position in literary history by comparing Kenji Miyazawa's theory of art with he controversy of farmers' literature. Miyazawa's theory of art favored anti-modernists. However, they differed from anti-modernists in their understanding of science. Miyazawa's theory of art was similar to that of anarchists. However, Miyazawa was in a political position against anarchism. Miyazawa was a local writer who was influenced by the controversy of farmers' literature.

May 21, 2012, solar eclipse was observed in Japan. This time, annular eclipse occurred over a wide range; i.e. the southern part of Kyushu, the southern part of Shikoku, the southern part of the Kinki, the southern part of the Chubu, such as the Kanto. Other regions became a partial solar eclipse. Approximately 83 million people are living in the path of annular phase, we were expected many people to observe the eclipse. Eclipse is a valuable opportunity to increase interest in science. On the other hand, when observing the sun, it runs a strong risk that leads to trouble in the eyes of people due to the strong sunlight. For example, in the case of the eclipse in Germany in 1912, solar eclipse retinopathy patients of 3,500 has occurred. We conducted our activities for many people to observe the eclipse safe. One of them is the spread of safe solar eclipse observation method, another is a research study of the safety of the solar eclipse glasses.In this paper, we report the transmittance measured in the various filters; solar viewing glass on the market, and their substitutes. These are valuable archival material related to solar observation glass for the solar eclipse in the future.

The relations among perimeter, area and volume of convex polyhedron or convex polygons in Euclidean and non-Euclidean spaces are studied. They are parametrized by the radius of their inscribed circles. The derivative of the area of convex polyhedron with respect to the radius is equal to the perimeter of it. Similar relations hold for the volume and the area in Euclidean space and for the area and the perimeter in non-Euclidean space.

Michael Slote is a philosopher who bases his work on the ethics of empathic care and considers that the ethics of caring and empathy are also effective in realizing social justice. Slote considers justice in the laws, institutions, and practices of society as the analogy for ethics among individuals. Furthermore, Slote rejects the position that the ethics of care is not compatible with considering justice, and he claims that the ethics of care creates its own concept of justice. This article explores the notion of social justice starting from an individual's empathy. How does empathic social justice build its own notion of justice? I will discuss the plausibility and limitations of Slote’s theory of justice based on empathy.

This paper is an investigation and interpretation (釈論) of 'Oe no Chisato-shu' (大江千里集) which is an anthology of Waka (和歌=ancient Japanese poems) by Oe himself.In this anthology, as usually called Kudai-waka (句題和歌), each Waka is given one phrase poetic title from Kanshi (漢詩=ancient Chinese poem) selected by Oe. The authors of this paper think that the mutual relations between expressions in both Waka and Kanshi have various patterns. So,the central purpose of our investigation is to concretely explicate the actual condition of all these patterns. And first,this paper treats of Waka No.29~No.30 of'Oe no Chisato-shu'.

As I have been paraphrasing English proverbs for more than ten years, and now I am doing the same way with Chinese sayings consisting of four character groups. They are appropriate teaching materials for the purpose of not only the growth and improvement of the young but also the development of expression in English, I think. They have a wider range of expression than those of the two or three character groups: they express emphasis, exaggeration, explanation, description, modification and admiration. So they sound grave, imposing, exaggerated and powerful. I arranged the paraphrased Chinese characters according to five groups: I. Noun phrase e. g.規矩準縄:criterion, models and rules in judging things II. Adverb phrase and clause e. g.円転滑脱:without arousing bitter feelings III. Gerund and Infinitive e. g.下学上達:beginning with learning easy things and arriving at high and abstract subjects by degrees IV. Sentence e. g.運否天賦:God decides on whether we are lucky or not. V. Proverb e. g.一陽来復:After a storm comes a calm. Especially, I tried to paraphrase them through using expression that cannot be found in various English dictionaries. In addition, I include illustrative sentences using the four-letters Chinese characters.

This article compares the capital cities of the Liao and Jin with Dadu 大都 of the Yuan dynasty and examines distinctive features of Dadu’s spatial structure as a capital city. The key to the comparison is kingship rites, or rites associated with regal authority. Capital cities on China’s Central Plain were places for performing Confucian rites. The Liao, Jin, and Yuan each captured Kaifeng 開封. When doing so, they assimilated the culture of the Central Plain, but the way in which they did so differed. In particular, changes can be seen in the spatial structure of their capital cities, depending on the extent to which they adopted the suburban sacrifice (jiaosi 郊祀), which functioned as a kingship rite on the Central Plain. The spatial structure of Dadu was similar to that of capital cities on the Central Plain, but Kublai Khan did not perform the suburban sacrifice, and instead he performed kingship rites that derived from Tibetan Buddhism and shamanism. Making use of this fact, I clarify characteristics of Dadu’s spatial structure as a capital city.

This study predicted the earthquake damage in Nagano city when the Shinanogawa-fault lines has been moved. This fault lines are located in the north area of Nagano Prefecture and serious damages in Nagano city is expected if the earthquake occurs. First, an assumed Magnitude was decided. Second, earthquake motions while shifting focal area along Shinanogawa-fault lines were simulated. Finally, we compare each focal area which is the most dangerous when the earthquake occurs by using Population Exposure to Seismic Intensity as an indicator.

This study predicted the earthquake damage in Nagano city when the Sinanogawa-fault lines has been moved. This fault lines are located in the north area of Nagano Prefecture and serious damage in Nagano city is expected if the earthquake occurs. In this research, the firstly the seismic scales and the indexes of liquefaction on the ground are predicted based on earthquake scenarios which vary in the earthquake's magnitude. The secondly, the damage points of the road network, the number of collapse in a building and the casualties are estimated.

本研究は、古今集的表現と一括される三代集の表現を、助詞・助動詞・構文・文章構成を観点として考察した。その成果として、以下の点をあげることができる。第1に、古今集から後拾遺集および拾遺抄の文末語と句切れのデータベースを、私家版ながら作成し、和歌の表現研究を効率的に行えるようにした。第2に、初句切れの表現構成を明らかにした。第3に、文末「らむ」と句切れとから、倒置的表現による体言止めの歌の形成過程の一端を明らかにした。第4に、三代集各に特徴的な詠歌の場が、「疑問詞……らむ」の用法に差異をもたらすことを明らかにした。第5に、三代集の「……ものは……なりけり」構文の展開を明らかにする端緒を得た。

中心市街地活性化への寄与に視点を当てた循環バス・コミュニティーバス運行支援システムの構築では、運賃、運行間隔、始発時刻繰り上げ・終発時刻の延長、移動時間などの運行サービスレベルと循環バス需要との関係を明らかにした。さらに循環バス需要関数を組み込んだ利用者便益と、運行コストからなる循環バスの社会的便益をモデル化し、社会的便益を最大化するサービス変数決定システムを構築し、長野市中心市街地循環バスに適用した。循環バス需要関数に、バス乗車拠点および訪問先の魅力度、訪問先までの到達のしやすさに関する説明要因を組み込み、循環バス導入の社会的便益評価を行った。その結果、規模あるいは乗り換えやすさ、移動拠点としての魅力も大きい循環バス乗車拠点をルートに含め、徒歩とバスの時間損失差が大きくなるような路線網の設定が市街地内トリップの増加に有効であることが分かった。バス利用者は乗車待ち時間損失を重視していることから、運行サービスでは運行間隔の設定が重要であることが分かった。インターモーダル輸送システム構築のための、乗り換え行動を考慮した、市街地内の回遊行動分析および回遊行動を支援するための巡回バスを中心とする公共交通システム導入の有効性を検証した。回遊手段の多くは徒歩であったが、徒歩は回遊行動範囲がある程度限られるため、移動および活動範囲が広がるような回遊行動を支援する手段の導入が必要であること、回遊行動を支援するための交通システムは駐車場整備、歩行空間の整備、巡回バスの導入要望が多く、巡回バスの導入は中心市街地活性化に寄与する可能性が高いことが分かった。また、乗り継ぎサービスの向上は、路線バスの運行時刻と運行ルートの改善が重要であることがわかった。中心市街地への移動中と、市街地内での移動では、市街地周辺の道路混雑、駐車場の満空、各手段の乗り継ぎ情報の提供が重要であることがわかった。ITSを活用したP&BR乗り換えシステムの構築では、出発前にシャトルバス利用を決定した観光客は、出発前には、シャトルバスへの運行案内情報を重視し、走行中にはすでにシャトルバスの利用を決定しているので、「駐車場経路誘導情報」、「運行時間帯」、「運行間隔」への重みが強いことが分かった。一方、走行中にシャトルバス利用を決定した観光客は、善光寺周辺交通案内地図を重視し、さらには駐車料金や満空情報などのシャトルバス利便性に関する情報も重視していることなどが分かった。
