軸流タービンの内部効率向上のため,損失の大きなブレード先端部および根本部の流れについて翼列実験およびモデルタービン実験を行い,主流と損失流れとの相互関係を明らかにした.そして,翼先端および翼根本での反動度を買えた新しいフローパターンを考え,これをノズルをねじることにより実験して,従来系との比較実験を行った.その結果1%以上のタービン効率の上昇を確認した.

This study proposes a driving assistance system to inform the notch operation timing for train drivers. The assistance system indicates visually the notch-off position where the driver releases the accelerator. The notch-off position is calculated by the present vehicle acceleration, velocity and position by assuming the constant acceleration. The assistance system also indicates the brake onset and the predicted stopping positions. Two experiments are conducted by using the train-driving simulator. One experiment examines the effects of the notch-off and brake onset timing on the vehicle velocity and the running time. The assistance system makes it possible to adjust the vehicle velocity and the running time. The other experiment examines the three running patterns by combination of the notch-off and the brake onset positions. With the time recovering pattern, which is combination of the higher notch-off velocity and the later brake onset timing, the assistance system realizes the shorter running time in comparison with the standard running pattern. With the energy saving pattern, which is combination of the lower notch-off velocity and the later brake onset timing, the assistance system prevents the time delay by the later brake timing even if the velocity is lower than the standard running pattern.

This paper describes effects of microbubble injection on natural convection heat transfer from a vertical heated plate in water. Thermocouples are used for the temperature measurement and an image processing technique is used for obtaining the bubble diameter, the bubble velocity and the bubble layer thickness. The working fluid used is tap water, and hydrogen bubbles generated by electrolysis of the water are used as the microbubbles. For a constant bubble flow rate and a constant wall heat flux, in the laminar and transition regions, the heat transfer coefficient is significantly increased by the microbubble injection (The ratio of the heat transfer coefficient with bubble injection to that without injection is 1.6-2.0 in both regions). The heat transfer enhancement in the laminar region results from both the forced-convection and mixing effects due to microbubble injection. On the other hand, the heat transfer enhancement in the transition region is mainly affected by acceleration of the transition to turbulence due to microbubble injection.

Recently, Quad-rotor type helicopters which are representative of Multi-rotor type helicopters have been extensively developed over the world. The Multi-rotors are expected to replace Single-rotor type helicopters as an industrial helicopter because of their simplicity of the structure and good maintainability. In this paper, we focused on the operation problems of previous industrial helicopters and applied the Multi-rotors by a generalized design method. The generalization of the design method is performed considering variation of requirements of airframe specifications. In addition, we considered using commercial components rather than customized components in each process, so we achieved cost reduction compared with previous study. At first, we introduce the required specifications of a small pesticide application in this study and present the airframe design method. And then, we tuned parameters with presented simulation model and implement a multi-rotor type helicopter following the design method. Finally, we show the flight result and present the effectiveness of the design method.

Light wall structures with high sound insulation performance are desired to be developed for houses and fuselage of vehicles. In this paper, a new light sound insulation structure is proposed. It is constructed with light inflated membrane bound by hard wire nets. By impedance tube tests, the proposed structures were proved to have not only high but also adjustable sound insulation performance by tuning the inside air pressure, which means stiffening the membranes. This structure can also construct a light sound insulation panel with high sound insulation performance by being inserted between light double walls.

This paper develops a newly bicycle concept named smart bicycle (SBIC) with automatic transmission and energy recuperating ability. The SBIC operation is based on a hydrostatic transmission (HST). Several HST designs have been proposed. Moreover, a use of energy converting and storing devices is an optional design for the SBIC to recovery energy during the deceleration or going downhill process, and to support this energy to the hydraulic system during the acceleration or going uphill process. The working efficiency of the bicycle is then increased and could become competitive with the roller-chain technology. Simulations have been carried out to evaluate the working performances of the proposed SBIC concepts.

In this paper, a dynamic impact control is proposed. To deal with an impact phenomenon and to establish the control method, a pendulum-like impact shot system is devised. In this system, a slider strikes a ball suspended by a wire, and the energy of the ball is controlled via impact force from the slider. In order to transmit the energy adequately, it is necessary for a slider to reach the target position with specified velocity just at the moment of collision. The reference trajectory for a slider is generated and adjusted in real time, and the proposed variable structure (VS) servo control enables chattering-free precise tracking to the reference trajectory. Additionally, by combining an adaptive VS-differentiator, the performance of the VS-servo control is enhanced. The effectiveness of the proposed impact control, the VS-servo control and the adaptive VS-differentiator is verified by simulation and experiment.

Unsteady, three-dimensional characteristics of vortex shedding were studied with self-made MEMS sensors situated spanwisely on a circular cylinder subjected to uniform incoming flow. Firstly, verification on the reliability of the MEMS sensor signals was made by comparing with the hot-wire signals obtained in the flow simultaneously. Subsequently, the MEMS sensor signals were analyzed with Wavelet and Hilbert transformations and 2D-FFT. By Wavelet and Hilbert transformations, the results obtained indicate that the strongly three-dimensional vortex shedding events are featured with pronounced spanwise variations in the instantaneous phases of vortex shedding, which are further identified as the occurrences of vortex dislocation. Furthermore, the results of 2D-FFT analysis reveal that the spanwise wave numbers of vortex shedding largely falls in a range between -2 to 2, for the MEMS sensors spanned over a spanwise region of 3 D in length.

In winter, the northern part of Japan has very deep and heavy snow, and faces the problem of freezing of the road surface. People have difficulty to walk along a sidewalk and to move from place to place in winter. This study aims to achieve efficient wintertime sidewalk administrator by applying developed ITS technologies to the snowplow. This paper describes the analysis of snow removal task on sidewalk, the mechanical type of rotary snowplow, and proposes information guidance system using Head-Up-Display, which is expected to be practically used in the near future.
