The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationships between race performance and cycle characteristics in a 10-km classic-style men's cross-country ski competition. The subjects were competitors in the 89th Japan National Ski Championships. Skiing motions of the subjects on flat stretches (1.5 km and 6.5 km) and uphill slopes (1.7 km and 6.7 km) were videotaped using two high-speed cameras. Cycle characteristics were calculated based on measurement of hip displacement and cycle time. It was revealed that elite competitors (1) performed at high velocity at all measurement points, (2) reduced their velocity in the last half of the race, (3) achieved a high velocity in double poling and diagonal stride, (4) increased their cycle length and cycle rate when employing the double poling technique, and (5) increased their cycle length when employing the diagonal stride technique.

スキー競技において,ワックスおよびストラクチャは勝敗を決める最重要要素である.本研究では,ワックスおよびストラクチャの摩擦係数を推定するための高精度GPS装置を開発した.摩擦係数の推定はエネルギー保存の法則を用いた.本手法により,摩擦係数が0.001の精度で計測できることを確認した.スキーの滑走性能は雪面状態や気象条件に大きく依存する.競技コースの雪面状態および気象条件とワックスおよびストラクチャの摩擦係数を関連付けてデータベース化した.これにより,スキー競技における最適なワックスおよびストラクチャを選定するための基礎を構築した.

This paper proposes the estimation method of rotational axis in figure skating jump using inertial sensors. The estimation method of rotational axis consists of components centrifugal, tangential and gravity accelerations and relationship between angular velocity and combining angular velocity, and this method estimates the pitch and yaw angles to the sensor coordinate system from the axis coordinate system and the roll and pitch angles to global coordinate system from the sensor coordinate system. We conducted the measurement experiment the triple flip jumps and the quadruple salchow jumps by the high-level figure skater using inertial sensors, and we estimated the rotational axis in the triple flip and quadruple salchow jumps. These results indicated the change of rotational axis during jump, and we indicated the difference of characteristics by the difference in success of jump.

This paper proposes the estimation method of three-dimensional rotational axis in figure skating jump by iterated Extended Kalman filter and quaternion using inertial and magnetic field sensors. This method estimates the posture information to global coordinate system from the sensor coordinate system and the posture information to rotational axis coordinate system from the sensor coordinate system using the iterated Extended Kalman filter, and the direction component represented by quaternion was estimated by using inertial and magnetic field sensors. We conducted the measurement experiment the triple flip jumps and the quadruple salchow jumps by the high-level figure skater using inertial and magnetic field sensors, and we estimated the three-dimensional rotational axis in the triple flip and quadruple salchow jumps. These results indicated the change of rotational axis during jump by the normalized vector and the projection drawing calculated by the estimated three-dimensional rotational axis, and we indicated the high reproducibility in the triple flip jumps and the difference of characteristics by the difference in success of jump in the quadruple salchow jumps.

In this study, we conducted the 3-axis acceleration analysis of figure skating jump using inertial sensors. In the motion measurement of figure skating jump, the measurement area is wide, and the figure skater conducts high speed rotational motion. Therefore, we used the inertial sensor system as simply motion measurement device. We conducted the measurement experiment of the figure skating jump by a high-level figure skater, we obtained the 3-axis measurement information of inertial sensors in the triple flip jumps and the quadruple salchow jumps. The results of combining angular velocity and acceleration indicated the high repeatability. Furthermore, we conducted the 3-axis acceleration analysis in quadruple salchow jumps using the sensor outputs and the self-assessment. The result of high point in self-assessment indicated the high acceleration, and the effect by composite axis component in centrifugal acceleration was indicated. These results indicated the importance of body inclination during the jump motion.

本研究は日本人高齢者の体力(ADL)について,高齢者の自己効力感を重要視した10段階評価基準の作成を試みた.被験者は60-90歳の男性106名,女性697名で,5歳刻みで評価基準を作成した.体力テスト項目は,1)開眼片足立ち,2)10m障害物歩行,3)握力,4)長座体前屈,5)椅子移動,6)椅子立ち上がり,7)ステッピング,8)一歩足踏みだし,9)シャトルスタミナウォーク,10)歩幅の10項目とした.すべての項目に対して5歳刻みの年齢毎に平均値および標準偏差を算出した.10段階評価のうち,平均値を10段階のうちの6になるように設定し,各段階は平均値±0.25SD(標準偏差)ずつ移動して,10段階評価基準を作成した.この考え方(平均値と6とする)は高齢者の自己効力感を少しでも満たそうという考えからである.すなわち,平均点が100点満点中の50点よりも60点であれば,感覚的に満足感が高いと考えられるからである.満足感が高いことは高齢者のやる気を引き出し,このことが健康教育に繋がる可能性がある.本研究ではこのような評価基準の作成は高齢者の体力評価の一つの提案と位置づけている.The author tried to make a 10-phase evaluation chart of physical fitness on Japanese elderly men and women aged 60 to 90. This study valued self-efficacy of elderly on the making the 10-phase evaluation. Physical fitness test was conducted on 106 men and 697 women. The test items were 1) one-leg balance with eye-opened, 2) 10 meters walking getting over obstacles, 3) grip strength, 4) sitting trunk flexion, 5) moving test between 2 chairs intervals, 6) 30-second squat times on the chair, 7) both legs stepping times for 30-second sitting on the chair, 8) forward step times for 30-second, 9) shuttle stamina walk for 3 minutes, and 10) step length with comfortable speed. Mean values and standard deviations were calculated as for every 5 years old on 10 measured items. Mean value of physical fitness of this study population was set at 6 of 10 phases and the range of each phase was mean value ± 0.25 standard deviation. Self-efficacy of elderly people must be considered to evaluate physical fitness, because one of important meaning of physical fitness test must be raising-up the motivation for exercise. Tables of 10-phase evaluation were made on the each test with distinction of age and sex for every 5 years old. This study was one suggestion for evaluation method of physical fitness on elderly people.

報告(Report)2009年10月15日から18日にかけて,ドイツのアルガウ,ネッセルワングにおいて国際ノルディックウォーキング連盟(International Nordic Walking Federation: INWA)主催のコンベンション2009が開催された.筆者はこれに参加し,いくつかの情報収集が出来たので,その内容を報告することとする.INWAコンベンションにはこれで2回目の参加で,報告も2回目になるが,今回の報告においては,1)2007年から2009年にかけてのNWの世界の動向,2)コンベンションから示唆できること,3)NWの将来への問題と展望,の観点から述べることとした.International Convention of Nordic Walking hosted by International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA) has been held in Nesselwang, Allgau, Germany from 15th to 18th of October 2009. The author has participated in this Convention and gotten the information about Nordic Walking trend. This is a second review for the trend for Nordic Walking in the World and Japan as the following stand points of view; 1) a trend for Nordic Walking from 2007 to 2009 in the World, 2) suggestions from the content of convention, and 3) the subjects (problems) have to be resolved in the future for Nordic Walking popularization.
