By embedding electronic watermarks (ex. QR codes) in advertisement such as digital signage, we can get additional information through the Internet by translating the electronic watermark into URL. Usually digital images in digital signage are composed of JPEG images. It is well known that electric watermarks deteriorate deeply if we embed them into JPEG images. It results in algorithm of JPEG compression. In this study, we try two methods as follows; (1) masking effect, and (2) embedding plural electric watermarks. Then, estimation and remained problems are shown.

Recently,healing pet robots are developed in application of AI, especially natural language processing. The psychotherapist ELIZA is a famous in early AI research but has not Japanese voice communication as human interface. We developed Japanese ELIZA system without translators,Japanese to English Englist to Japanese and with IBM Via Voice 98,speach recognition and speach synthesis system. Robot chat Eliza system by Peri on the network is discussed.

We have been researching subjective evaluation experiments using Visual Analog Scale (VAS). VAS has the advantage of expressing subjectivity more intuitively. In this paper, we report an attempt of the subjective evaluation related to human lightness sense as fundamental research on what kind of color sense human has. We used VAS to obtain answers on where each gray image with different lightness corresponds to on the grayscale. Numeric values obtained by this evaluation experiment were analyzed to confirm the characteristics of the sensitivity of the individual. Moreover, at the same time, it was examined whether the VAS accurately reflected the subjective view of the person by the answer of what percentage of the grayscale was by the numeric value input. In order to conduct experiments smoothly, we developed an app that can perform VAS measurement and numeric value input simultaneously. We presented ten grayscale images to 13 subjects and obtained subjective measurements using this app. It was confirmed that when the lightness of the grayscale image is high, it can be recognized relatively accurately, but when the lightness is low, it tends to feel darker.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the quantitative changes of autonomic nerve activity using AC electromagnetic fields. In previous research, we attempted to measure autonomic nervous activity using a Heart Rate Variability (HRV). However, due to influence of the magnetism, a correct result could not be obtained. In this research, we measured the autonomic nerve activity not affected by magnetism using measuring equipment of skin potential activity. The experiment was repeated for one subject. As a result, it was found that the skin potential level tends to rise and skin potential reflex fluctuates when magnetic exposure and after the exposure. It is thought that the blood flow was accelerated by magnetism, and the sympathetic nerve activity became dominant. However, this experiment haven’t had examined enough data regarding the researched subjects. For this reason, there is a need of gathering more data for the classification of autonomic nerve activity.

Smartphone was equipped with the function equal to a PC and has become an indispensable tool in the information society. In particular, many people are using it as entertainment tools such as video viewing, communication applications, and game applications while moving. There are many people using smartphone while walking on a platform or a street because they are enthusiastic about the application and cannot be interrupted. For this reason, many accidents have occurred due to the use smartphone while walking, and have been alerted not to use smartphone while walking. However, smartphone use while walking does not decrease at all. In this report, we examined the risk of using a smartphone while walking, based on changes in perception. In the experiment, we measured the effective visual field when standing without using a smartphone, standing with a smartphone, walking without using a smartphone, and walking with a smartphone. As the result, it was shown that the effective visual field was 45-56% narrower when using a smartphone than when not using a smartphone in both standing and walking. Thus, when using a smartphone, it is meant that it isn't possible to notice the changes in surrounding circumstances. Therefore, it was shown that using a smartphone while walking was dangerous.

The brain science has developed recently. We know many methods to imaging of not only the shape of the brain but also the function of that. In spite of progress in the research of this field, it has not been able to treat the consciousness successfully. In science, we usually have the assumption that the objects exist independently from our consciousness. However, the consciousness has itself as the object. This situation leads us to some difficulty. Therefore, it is very puzzling to research this field scientifically. In this report, we discuss the possibility of applying the quantum theory to the science of the consciousness compared with general relativity. But our consideration about this issue is only the beginning. We should develop the research of this field.

The decline in students' reading comprehension is a hot topic. Noriko Arai has proposed a unique indicator called RST (Reading Skill Test) for evaluating text reading comprehension and has evaluated it in six fields. In addition, in beginner programming exercises, there are many students who are expected to be unable to do programming tasks because they cannot read the problem sentence. However, although it can be judged that programming problems cannot be made, the reason why programming is not possible has not been deeply pursued. Therefore, we propose reading comprehension indicators with reference to the indicators of RST, and classify students into multiple types based on the indicators. It is expected that the learning effect will be enhanced by preparing multiple question sentences according to the classified student type and letting students tackle the programming tasks that match them. It is costly to make several kinds of question sentences for the same task, but the learning effect is assumed to increase.

Environmental education is defined as an essential education for human sustainable development. Recently, environmental problems have been getting more serious and manifold, therefore, global environmental education is clearly and immediately needed. However, in Japan, continual environmental education has not been established yet. To change this situation, an innovative education project named "DEEP AMAMI" has started at Tatsugo town in Amami Island since 2006. This project aims 1) to maintain human mental health, 2) to develop sustainable societies, and 3) to conserve the nature not only in Amami but also in the earth. This time, I introduce the system of our DEEP AMAMI project, several programs, and some remarkable results. I also propose you a new life style which can create a true sustainable world.

In recent years, CD-R became popular. In generally, people use it for backup data and copy music CDs. We will expect that CD-R for music become increasingly popular more and more. Creating Original CDs is becoming easy, while it is not easy to create Original CD Jacket, because it needs artistic sensitivity and knowledge of design. So, we develop the design system that creates CD jacket (that fitted a user's sensitivity) easily. This system's purpose is saving the labor hour of design and advancing the showing of CD jacket by using theory for the Evolutionary Computation and the Interactive GA.

Medication compliance of long-term drug therapy outpatients is poor because of low-frequency visit of the patients to clinic and dispensing pharmacy. This is also because that their subjective symptoms are not straightforward. In this research, we design support system for long-term medication patients to improve medication compliance, for use in dispensing pharmacy. Here, we propose an emphasis on voice messaging communication part in medication support system.

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an exercise on the people with autism spectrum disorder using the NeuCube spiking neural network (SNN) architecture. We collected EEG patterns during perception and imitation of facial expressions for each emotion. Comparing the collected data in perceiving and mimicking facial expressions, EEG patterns of typically developed person were very similar. This fact suggest that it seems that there are mirror neurons on facial expression in the human brain. Recently, some studies have been reported that mirror neuron system does not work well in the case of subjects with brain disorders. In this paper, we observed mirror neurons during normal perception and imitation of facial expressions in typically developed subjects (TP), ASD subjects who exercise regularly (ASDe), and ASD subjects who don't exercise regularly (ASDn). As a result of experiments, we confirmed the mirror neuron activities of ASDe subjects tend to be close to ones of TP subjects compared to ones of ASDn subjects. The results in the experiments imply the effects of regular exercise on autism spectrum disorder.

Objective : Today in the United States, about one in eight women over their lifetime has affected by breast cancer. In recent years the incidence rate keep increasing and data shows that the five years survival rate is 88% and the 10 years survival rate is 80%. Recently in Japan, the incidence rate of breast cancer has been increasing. After 1995, breast cancer ranks first incidence in female cancers and receives a great deal of public attention. Up to today, various prediction models with using SEER (Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results) datasets have been constructed in past studies. However the appropriate methods for predicting the breast cancer have not established. In this paper, we present optimal models to predict the survival rate of breast cancer patients in five years. Material and Methods' This study used the 37,356 follow-up patients by 2002 that were diagnosed as breast cancer and registered in the SEER program from 1992 to 1997. We used seven common data mining algorithms (Logistic Regression model, Artificial Neural Network (Multilayer Perceptron), Naive Bayes, Bayes Net, Decision Trees with naive Bayes, Decision Trees (ID3) and Decision Trees (J48), besides a most generally used statistical method (Logistic Regression model) to develop the prediction models. We also used 10-fold cross-validation methods to assess the unbiased estimate of the five prediction models for comparison of performance of each method. Results : The accuracy was 85.8±0.2%,84.5±1.4%,83.9±0.2%,83.9±0.2%,84.2±0.2%,82.3±0.2%,85.6±0.2% for the Logistic Regression model, Artificial Neural Network(Multilayer Perceptron), Naive Bayes, Bayes Net, Decision Trees with naive Bayes, Decision Trees(ID3) and Decision Trees(J48), respectively. Conclusion : In this study, Logistic Regression model showed the highest accuracy. The Decision Trees (J48) had the highest sensitivity and the Artificial Neural Network had the highest specificity. The Decision Trees models tend to show high sensitivity. And the Bayesian models were apt to show the accuracy goes up. We found that the optimal algorithm might be different by the predicted objects and datasets.

In order to clarify the relation of the image about the delivery desk and the knowledge on the posture of the delivery, the investigation has been done using questionnaire to the young students, 77 students of 2^<nd> year ,and 75 students 3^<rd> year in nursing course, and 105 students in midwife course. It is cleared that 1) the degree of recognition on the postures of delivery is largely different between nurse course students and midwife course students (p=0.000), 2) midwife course students has negative image for the delivery desk compared with the nurse course students, 3) nurse course students have the image as "usual" (p=0.000) and "natural" (p=0.000) and also "general" (p=0.012) compared with the midwife course students.

In the consciousness studies of recent years, scientific and logical approaches on clarifying consciousness have become the object of analysis and the problems resulting from it have been systematically studied. One of the major problems scientists have faced is: How is it possible to ensure the objectivity that transcends the paradox that the object a researcher studies encompasses the researcher himself/herself? In this paper, I will clarify the difference between the viewpoint brought about by the conventional human thought patterns and the completely new viewpoint that is based on the system: Simultaneous Existence with Dual Structure. In addition, I will introduce some examples in which the structure observed by the new viewpoint not only induces the unification of a person's ego and the world the person sees (the extinction of ego through the unification of subject and object), but also transforms the world the person sees. Furthermore, I will present an assumption that the unification of a person's ego and the world the person sees represents the emergence of consciousness and that the observation as a result of understanding the structure of the emerging consciousness brings about the quantization of consciousness in the macro domain. Lastly, we will mention the possibility of social reproduction brought about by the quantization of consciousness.

The approach of the accessibility is necessary for all the people to be able to use the Internet. As the visual elements are very important factors in the Internet, in our previous study, the visibilities of young adults, the elderly and dichromatic vision persons were evaluated on white background using the simulation filters. In this report, we evaluated the visibilities between black background and 21 foreground colors, and developed the expression for visibility prediction by the multiple regression analysis using color brightness difference and color difference which was derived from RGB value. As the results, as is the case in the white background, the visibility was correlated with color difference. Moreover, it was shown that all group's visibility is judged high when the range for color brightness difference is 120.3 or more.

In this paper, the hisory of fuzzy logic is overviewed. Fuzzy logic has four origins: 1) the logic of vagueness, 2) the logic of logical circuit, 3) the fuzzy algorithm, which is called fuzzy reasoning, and 4) Zadeh's fuzzy logic. At present, the fuzzy logic is regarded as the logic of fuzzy reasoning.
