The advanced theories on building physics applying THERB, such as thermal conduction, convection and radiation, for numerical simulation on the hygrothermal environment of buildings are exemplified and verified (to calculation accuracy. The followings are mentioned as the results; the need for calculation of combined heat and moisture transfer to analyze the hygrothermal environment, the importance of time-varying and nonlinearity of the coefficients of convection and radiation heat transfer in each point of buildings, the necessity of the detailed calculation of mutual radiation among the indoor surfaces in condition such as panel heating, the influences of the time shift of sunshine portion and the multiple reflection of transmitted solar radiation among the indoor surfaces.

Meso-scale climate analysis is very useful to understand the structure of the urban heat island. MM5, provided by National Center for Atmospheric Research, is one of major meso-scale model in the world. However, parameterization of ground surface in MM5 is to rather coarse to analyze urban climate. That is, in MM5, ground surface parameters are determined by most superior land-use in each mesh. However, this method is unable to represent detail urban structure, to say, the effect of Cool Island with green or water body is neglected. In this paper, ground surface parameterization in MM5 is modified to represent land-use fraction. Furthermore, effect of anthropogenic heat release is also incorporated in MM5.

This paper describes the outline and the operation results of GSHP system by using groundwater in the shallow layer. This system uses rainwater as heat medium and exchanges heat by using non-potable water pit and horizontal pipes around the pit under ground. The construction cost of horizontal pipe system is about 20% of vertical pipe system, and it's expected that horizontal system will be used widely in Japan. As a result of operation, the using ratio of geothermal energy is 84% in cooling period and 75% in heating period respectively, and the maximum capacity of geothermal use is 132kW. The characteristics of heat exchange by horizontal pipes are also described.

The FIS Nordic World Ski Championship in 2007 was held in Sapporo in February, 2007 and the competition course was partially conducted in indoor facility. The control of air-conditioning system and the moving wall is the key point to maintain the snow condition and the audiences' comfort. The measurement result of thermal environment for long-term and short-term is analyzed.

In Japan, a designer, an architect or a developer hasn't been practically using the energy simulation program yet, while now they begin to use it practically in USA because the energy simulation program has been developed continually and the user-friendly interface has already developed.The present paper shows the state of the energy simulation program in USA and aims to encourage the Japanese engineer to use the energy simulation program.

In this paper, the prediction method of the inlet water temperature of purification plant shown in the last paper was used and comparison between measurement and calculation results in 2001 and 2002 was performed. And prediction method of water temperature from water purification plant and that in the water pipe from a water purification plant to a building were shown and a series of predictions from a water source to a building was performed for validation of the prediction method.

EnergyPlus, which is the building energy simulation program developed by U.S. Department of Energy, has been hardly used in Japan mostly because of the language problem, though it has been used all over the world. The authors think that EnergyPlus users will also increase in Japan, if an environment would be created where Japanese users can become available of it. The authors, therefore, decided to develop Japanese comprehensive user interface for EnergyPlus in order to promote the spread of EnergyPlus in Japan.

We practiced .thermal measurement outdoors using solar reflective materials that have the potential to suppress heat-island effect. Solar reflectance is calculated by heat balance in one case that samples are horizontal and the other case that samples are inclined so that the angle of incidence is almost normal incidence (about 7degree).We estimate that retroreflective components are 4 to 14 percent for bead-embedded type, 17 to 19 percent for capsule-lens type, and 23 to 30 percent for prism-array type.
