Character recognition from Video camera images is necessary, because digital video cameras have gained in popularity. In this paper, we propose a new method of extracting four directional features. The characteristic of our method is to use dynamic scenes. This is achieved by using images shifted by half a pixel in the low resolution. We experimented with character recognition using the common database ETL2. We calculated the center of gravity or the camera image in order to apply our method in practice. We also experimented with character recognition using images takeen by a video camera. The recognition results show that our method is effective at low resolution.

ビデオカメラに向かって歩く人物の衣服を画像認識する方法を提案する.直立正面向きの姿勢に近い人物像をビデオ画像から抽出し, 弛緩法を中心とする画像処理によって, 上下衣服の種類を判別する.実画像による実験結果を示す.監視システムへの応用が期待される.

A new method for interpolating ray-space data is described that uses block matching and one-sided extension of the locus of corresponding points for arbitrary-view image generation. The block detects straight lines for interpolation. The one-sided extension interpolates occluded pixels. Testing showed that the proposed method generates intermediate images well even when occlusion occurs

The Cable Television Conference working group conducted experiments on the 64 QAM signal transmission in a CATV system from 1995 to 1996. These experiments were based on the tentative specifications of the Telecommunications Technology Council of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT), to promote standardization of the Japanese digital CATV system. Experimental results showed that a C/N of more than 26 dB, a Composite Triple Beat (CTB) of less than -43 dB, and a single carrier interference of less than -30 dB were required to keep a BER of less than 1×10^<-4> without forward error correction. Cable reflection within the conventional CATV standard for NTSC-AM signals was low enough for 64 QAM signals. Experiments on adjacent channel interference between 64 QAM and NTSCAM signals indicated that the 64 QAM signal level needed to be lower than the NTSC-AM signal level by about 4-20 dB. Based upon these results, the Japanese standard was introduced by MPT on December 3,1996.

We present improved practical color filter array interpolation methods that use color correlation for use in digital cameras.Cost-effective digital cameras use a single-chip image sensor and subsequent interpolation processing to produce full-color images.Therefore,many type of sophisticated algorithms have been proposed to create high quality images.Their complicated algorithms make it difficult,however,for them to be implemented in digital cameras due to limited computing capacity or available processing time.Although existing interpolation methods that use a directional color correlation are very cost-effective,they result in color artifact on the edge of color boundaries.We propose two algorithms to resolve this problem.One is a constrained color correlation method that is achieved by adding constrained conditions.The other is the precious color correlation methods that uses a nonlinear filter.The proposed methods can eliminate the artifact regardless of any color correlation of the images.Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of these methods.

Many attempts have been made to reduce the burden and difficulty of CG (Computer Graphics) in movie production. One of the biggest evolutions is an automatic control approach driven by commands or language, instead of traditional CG production. In this paper, we propose methods and tools for automatic and directorial camera control that are invoked by a text script. This approach is based on the knowledge base of cinematographic rules and movie analysis imformation. We suggest considering directorial differences and optimal constraint satisfaction for adjusting CG camera work. An algorithm is implemented and checked in the DMP (Digital Movie Producer) system that aims at visualizing scripts written in simple natural language.
