Recently Volatile corrosion inhibitor (V.C.I.) is applied in all circles to the prevention of corrosion of the iron and steel materials on vapour and liquid phases. Experiments have been made on the anticorrosive effect of the V.C.I. for boilers which are at rest or cleaned with acid. The results of the experiments come to the next conclusions. (1) The suitable concentration of V.C.I. in the liquid phase is 100 mg/l and V.C.I. of more than 100 mg/l is not more efficacious. (2) V,C.I. of 100 mg/l concentration have nearly the same effect as NaOH of 300 mg/l. (3) After the acid cleaning, the boilers must be washed well with NaOH solution and water, and V.C.I. should be used in vapour or liquid phase.

This paper describes the developments of new pectoral fins made of elastic materials with the functions of flexibility and multifunctionality for biomimetic underwater vehicles to use as not only a propulsive device, but also other applications such as grippers, avoiding damages to environment by rigid fins. We developed two types of elastic pectoral fins, an actively controlled pneumatic fin and a passively controlled flexible fin in this study. We carried out the verification tests for generating the propulsive forces and FEM analyses of the behaviors of two elastic pectoral fins.

By developing Automatic Identification System (AIS), vessel positioning and detailed movement can be understood in real time. Although vessel movement data including AIS have been conventionally utilized in suspicious vessel detection, collision avoidance, and vessel trajectory analysis, etc., this study focuses on the new application fields of vessel movement data including logistics, shipping, shipbuilding, environment, and cruise industry. In this paper, description of AIS data and literature review of each field are first summarized, then the results of the questionnaire survey to the industry and application service of AIS data are analyzed. Finally, the future prospects of research and application to the industry in the fields that the authors focus are summarized.
