This paper aims to construct a theoretical framework to explore a creative design process, which might be described as a “reflective conversation with situation” in D. A. Schön's term. For this purpose, 1) we introduce C. S. Peirce's semiotics into the study on design process, 2) examine how we apply it to design processes, 3) obtain the cases of design processes through a design experiment, and 4) analyze those cases using Peirce's semiotic model. Thereby, we propose that the design process as a “conversation with situation” can be understood as circulative chains of signs on Peirce's sign division.

<p>日本の一般生活者の便秘に関するインターネット調査を実施した.51.5%が便秘を自覚し,その有意な因子は加齢,女性,糖尿病,痔疾患,脳血管疾患であった.便秘自覚者3000名の約1/3が便秘薬・下剤を服用し,43.8%は刺激性下剤を服用していた.入手方法は,医師処方37.2%,薬局購入67.5%であった.排便回数が週3回未満や硬便の割合はそれぞれ約1/3で,硬便,下痢便の人のQOLは有意に低下していた.便秘治療薬の1カ月間の支払い金額あるいは支払い可能金額は,約75%が1000円未満であった.日本人便秘自覚者の多くに十分な便秘治療が行われていないと思われ,適切な便秘診療の普及が望まれる.</p>

Fluctuations in the wing-form ratio of the brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens, were examined by collecting fifth-instar nymphs from rice fields. Two peaks of brachypterous females were observed at 40–50 days after transplanting (DAT) and 75–85 DAT (5 days before heading–10 days after heading). After 75–85 DAT, the percentage of brachypterous females decreased with an increase in BPH density. However, the BPH density was still low after 40–50 DAT when the first decrease in the percentage of brachypterous females occurred. Thus, not only population density of BPH, but also the rice plant stage seems to affect the fluctuations in female wing-form ratio. The SPAD readings of rice leaf, which are associated with leaf nitrogen content, fluctuated with rice plant stage and showed two peaks at 30–50 DAT and 65–80 DAT. The fluctuation pattern of the SPAD readings was similar to that of the percentage of brachypterous females. This suggests that the percentage of brachypterous females fluctuated in accordance with a decrease in nitrogen content of rice plants.

本稿では,隠れに頑健な人物識別手法として,顔特徴とコンテキスト情報を用いた手法について報告する.本手法では,顔特徴として正面顔と目,鼻などの顔部品を用い,CLAFIC法により類似度を求める.またコンテキスト情報には衣服の情報を使用し,衣服特徴として4つの特徴を用い,それぞれ類似度を求める.これらの特徴から得られた類似度を統合し,人物識別を行う.顔の一部が隠れた画像に対して,顔特徴のみで識別を行った場合の結果と本手法で識別を行った場合の結果を比べることで,コンテキスト情報として衣服特徴を用いることの有効性を確認した.

図書館パスファインダーは北米において40年以上にわたり,レファレンスサービスの重要な役割を担ってきた。しかし日本の図書館においては確立したサービスとして提供されてきていない。インターネットを含む新しい技術の出現により電子パスファインダーに進歩することで,図書館パスファインダーは利用の可能性が開けてくると考えられる。図書館パスファインダーとは何であるかを紹介し,発達の歴史をたどりながら,OCLC Connexion Pathfinder(旧CORC Pathfinder)作成経験を通して予想される「図書館ポータル」の機能要素としてのその将来像を示した。厳しい現実に直面する私立大学函書館において,これからの新しいサービスになり得るかは国レベルでの環境整備やサポートが不可欠である。
