Internet of Things IoT has mainly developed based on analytic and logical thinking, while sensibility processing has poorly designed. The main reason for it is the difficulties of the informatization of sensitivity information. For example, the difference between the sensibility of hearing cheerful "Good morning" and not-cheerful "Good morning" is a difference in the way of speaking. The method of speaking is the change in the strength of voice. Although in-formatization of sensibility information is generally not easy, it can informatize by focusing on changes in intensity. Therefore, we proposed the Tactile Score as a method to describe the difference in strength. By using the tactile score, we can informatize and connect the multimedia sensibility to IoT. We have applied these techniques to extract sensibility information from body movements (sensibility informotion) and transform into sounds and tactile media.

Onboard REBCO (rare-earth barium copper oxide) HTS (high temperature superconducting) magnets for SC (superconducting) Maglev vehicles are being developed, that do not require refrigerants such as liquid helium. Their simplified refrigeration system results in reduced vehicle weight and makes it possible to reduce the gap between the SC magnets and guideway coils. HTS magnets are designed to operate with constant current leading by an excitation power source. By using the power source, magnetomotive force of SCMs (superconducting magnets) can be controlled.This paper describes effects of magnetomotive force control of HTS magnets on the SC Maglev vehicle system in terms of rating and efficiency of the Maglev LSM (linear synchronous motor). Using onboard REBCO HTS magnets with magnetomotive force control, the efficiency of the SC Maglev vehicle system can be increased with the same rating of the system.

In order to avoid the drive line infection of implantable devices and the surgical treatment for battery replacement, an intravascular micro turbine generator using blood flow, has been proposed and developed. The micro generator consisting of a micro turbine, a magnetic fluid (MF) seal, a stent, and an electrical generator is inserted by catheter into a descending aorta, which is able to reduce the invasiveness to patients. The experimental results using a prototype generator placed in a mock circuit loop showed that the resisting pressure of the MF seal was more than 25 kPa at 2,000 rpm and the generated power was 0.12 mW under a pulsatile flow condition.

We have been developing new Compressed Air Energy Storage System which is trademarked as ”CAB”. The CAB -Compressed Air Battery- is the machine type battery which is expected to be used for short-time load leveling in the grid-connected operation of wind-farm and mega-solar power generation, and for peak cutting of power demands for factories and buildings. By using screw type compressors and turbines, it can be possible to follow frequent load leveling against renewable energy compared with turbo and reciprocating machineries that have difficulties in part load operation or rapid change of speed. The features of CAB system, equipment configuration, system efficiency, and characteristics of charging/discharging are mainly introduced in this paper as clean power energy storage system used compressed air.

This paper presents the principle, characteristics and its analysis for bone conduction speaker. Bone conduction speaker has used under the sound noise, openable ear environment or by impaired hearing people because it is able to send the sound vibration directly to ear through the bone. In this article, introduce the 2 type of bone conduction speaker, then it is mentioned its analysis and results.

Currently, there are many systems to support people with disability in their day to day activities. In this research, a robot arm system was designed, developed and controlled by use of an EOG (ElectroOculography) signal generated by the eye movement. The first part of the research was to establish the relationship between gaze position and EOG signal. Using Helmert transform method, the gaze position is estimated. The average error between real gaze position and estimated gaze position was ±4 cm. To recognize blink through EOG signal, Bell phenomenon was used. The blink recognition (voluntary and involuntary) experiment includes three occupants. The overall success rate of recognition of their blinks was more than 90%. Using this system long will make operators tired and results in erroneous experimental results. Thus, the switch from “control on” to “control off” was introduced in this system. The switch is activated when voluntary blink is detected. This will allow the system to improve the controllability.

The flywheel energy storage systems (FESS) can be stabilized the fluctuation of the output of the solar photovoltaic power generation system. FESS has been developed as a joint project of five enterprises subsidized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO). Key technology of FESS is the high temperature superconducting magnetic bearing (SMB). It consists of high temperature superconducting coils for its stator and high temperature superconducting bulks for its rotor. The FESS demonstration machine was reinstalled in the power plant, and the examination of the charge/discharge with solar photovoltaic power by the FESS demonstration machine was operated.

A square wave excitation is the simplest method of brushless DC motor drive, but it has part inferior in terms of efficiency and vibration noise. However, the efficiency can be clearly improved by extending excitation angle and advancing current phase angle, especially the 150 degree excitation leads maximum efficiency. And the 150 degree excitation has possibility of making vibration noise characteristic improve because it leads losses decrease. In this paper, we measure the motor vibration noise characteristics in 150 degree excitation, and inspect degree of improvement of the characteristics experimentally.

SUBARU has developed EyeSight, which has Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), “Pre-Collision Braking System”. The concept is to minimize collision damage or if conditions allow, prevent the collision. Through a trial-and-error process, SUBARU has, and continues to enhance the performance of Pre-Collision Braking System. The latest Pre-Collision Braking System was refined to two points. The first is to hasten the reaction to crossing pedestrians coming out from behind obstacles to heighten the speed reduction effect. The other point is to improve the reaction to night-time pedestrians. The effectiveness has been raised by suppressing the drop in the recognition performance caused by peripheral darkness or the color of pedestrians' clothes. These improvements will offer a high level of safety. This report also describes details of traffic accident data, and comparing results of “with EyeSight” and “without EyeSight”.

This paper describes a basic concept of thermoelectric tubes. Construction of thermoelectric tubes has been done by making use of the off-diagonal thermoelectric effect, which is one of the direct energy conversion processes from heat into electricity. Here we also present a fabrication process and the current status of a feasibility study at a garbage incineration plant in Kyoto.

Authors investigated whether the absolute sound pressure in the ultrasonic cleaning machine can be measured by fiber optic probe hydrophone (FOPH) under cavitation. Since the intensity on the cavitation bubble collapse is high in the frequency range of about 30 to 100 kHz, the sound pressure measurement using FOPH was applied to ultrasonic cleaning machine with the use of a submerged ultrasonic transducer with frequency of 35.5 kHz. In the case of cavitation bubble collapse occurs frequently, it is confirmed that fundamental and harmonic components can be measured by FOPH. And also, the sound pressure distribution was compared to the analysis result using finite element method.

We have proposed a current superimposition variable flux machine for traction motors. The torque-speed characteristics of this machine can be controlled by increasing or decreasing the DC current which is superimposed on the AC current. However, because of noises and the change of coil resistances, the DC current was difficult to apply constantly. In this paper, we propose a DC current control method and verify the effectiveness by carrying out measurements on a prototype. First, the structure and control method are described. Next, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by using FEA. Finally, the N-T characteristics are measured on a prototype.

This paper presents the development of high efficiency (IE5-class) industrial motor with an amorphous core for large capacity applications. Interest in saving energy increases on a global scale, and the high efficiency of the motor attracts attention. As for the motor of the field of industry, legal regulation to IEC standard is promoted in each country. We developed the magnetic characteristic evaluation technology and highly precise analysis design technique in the motor to reduce a loss more from the IE4 efficiency class. We found core structure to reduce the loss of the amorphous metal core, and the trial motor was able to achieve an efficiency class of IE5 by applying it.

In this paper, the results of examining the number of strands for high efficiency and low heat generation of litz wire used for transformer of LLC resonant converter are described. Converter used for switching power supplies are required to be smaller and more efficient. To reduce the size of the converter, examinations have been made by increasing the frequency of the driving frequency. However, due to the high frequency, heat generation in the winding increase due to an increase in AC resistance in the transformer, which is one of the programs of high frequency. In view of this, we study reduction in heat generation by making the wire diameter of the winding constant and changing the number of strands. As a results, it is possible to improve efficiency of the LLC converter by 0.3 % and suppress heat generation of the transformer at 37 °C.

This paper reports a novel system that real-timely detects the respiration and the heartbeat during sleep for the purpose of early diagnosis of Sleep Apnea Syndromes. Real-time discrimination of the signal components related to the respiration and the heartbeat was realized using the Independent Component Analysis from the observed signals of PVDF films, which are placed on the bed under the bed sheet. Body movement is taken into consideration in order to prevent the system from divergence and to improve the discrimination accuracy. Efficacy of the system is testified through experiments.

We propose a novel magnetic gear with a high torque density and a huge gear ratio despite the small number of magnet poles. This magnetic gear combines a magnetic flux harmonics gear with a magnetic paradox planetary gear by replacing all planetary gears with steel pole pieces. Its structure and operating principle are described, and the effectiveness of the proposed gear is verified by 3-D finite element analysis.

This paper describes the effect of power supply noise on the acoustic noise and pan vibration when making use of the IH (Induction Heating) cooker. Recently, due to the spread of power electronics device, noise superimposed on the AC power supply is a problem. It has been reported that the acoustic noise provides discomfort feeling when using the IH cooker. Other studies have concluded that the vibration of a pan due to the induction heating is the noise source. So, we started our study on the noise from a pan when making use the IH cooker. Furthermore, we clarify the influence of power source noise on the acoustic noise and pan’s vibration. We made an experiment to clarify this influence. As a result, we clarified that power source noise has influenced acoustic noise and pan’s vibration.

This paper presents a new structure of bone conduction speaker. It is smaller than the conventional structure by removing an extra space. The magnetic path of this structure is not wasteful because the coil case is attached a cover and this structure uses the magnetic material as the vibrating plate. This structure operates by flowing the audio current into the voice coil. That reason is the change of magnetic attractive force between the magnetic pole of yoke and magnet. The authors revealed various characteristics of this structure by the electromagnetic field analysis and structural analysis by using the 3-dimensional finite element method (3D-FEM). As the result of electromagnetic analysis, the leakage flux of this structure is lower than the conventional structure by 55.2 %. As the result of structural analysis, the sound pressure level (SPL) of this structure is higher than the conventional structure by 12.6 %. Consequently, the performance of this structure is improved.

In this paper, a technique of magnetostatic field analysis for structural models with defect of arbitrary inclination angle is presented by adding a function obtained from conformal mapping to the approximate potential function based on the conventional FEM scheme. In this technique, geometry of the defect is not explicitly expressed on the orthogonal grid type FEM mesh but held as function within the analysis program. Since the change of the defect shape is reflected in that function, it becomes possible to use the original mesh without being changed. The magnetic flux density distribution around an inclined defect obtained by this presented technique showed good agreement with that from FEM analysis.

Traditional ways of using plasma for medical application are blood coagulation and sterilization and etc. Recently, plasma has been used for medical treatment at Drexel University in USA. In their study, sever burn has been treated by using plasma irradiation. If plasma medicine is established, it is possible to start new regenerative medicine. They study therapies by using plasma irradiation, but the examination of safety for living body is not enough. Therefore, in this study, I investigate the effect of plasma irradiation treatment for the living body. The first step of my study, I report the changing of the Cardiovascular System by plasma inhalation.
