The channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus, is an invasive alien species introduced from North America. We investigated the present status of the fish in Japan and found that it is widely distributed in the Abukuma, Tone, and Yahagi River systems, as well as in Lake Shimokotori. In 2008 and 2009, several channel catfish were also caught in Lake Hinuma and the Miya and Seta Rivers. We concluded that the distribution of channel catfish has rapidly expanded within natural rivers during the past several years. To avoid severe damage imposed by channel catfish to the river ecosystems and inland fisheries of Japan, risk assessments and examinations of the ecological characteristics and methods of capture of this fish species are urgently required.

The geographical distribution of mtDNA haplotypes of non-indigenous smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieu) populations in Japan were examined utilizing nucleotide sequences of the mtDNA control region from 208 individuals collected from 20 localities. A total of three haplotypes (n, o and p), distinguished by a nucleotide substitution or an insertion/deletion of 294bp, were found in Japanese freshwater systems. In eastern Japan, most M. dolomieu populations had two haplotypes (n and p), the frequencies being similar among localities. On the other hand, haplotype n or p was fixed (or nearly fixed) in lakes and ponds in western Japan. These results suggested that the non-indigenous populations of smallmouth bass in Japan were initially established by an introduction into eastern Japan, the western Japanese populations being subsequently founded by relatively small num-bers of individuals.

われわれは、自閉的行動をもつ幼児に対してフリーオペラント事態における指導を実施し、それに続いて机上の課題学習指導を導入した。絵カードの命名課題において呈示された絵カードの名前を言うことができないときに、その指導から逸脱する行動が認められた。そこで、Koege1(1995)に示唆を得て、わからないときに「これなに?」と質問するように指導した。今回われわれのとった手続きは、Kogel(1995)とは異なるものであったが、本児は質問行動を獲得し、指導から逸脱する行動は低減し、自発的な命名反応も増加した。さらに、フリーオペラント事態や日常の場面へも般化した。Koegelの手続きとわれわれのそれとを比較検討したところ、いずれの場合においても「これなに?」の質問が獲得されるためには、社会性強化子や他の自然強化子が有効に機能し、同時に物の名前を教えてもらって聞くことも強化機能を有する必要のあることが示唆された。

In operant therapy with autistic children, chocolate or juice is usually used as a reinforcer. Using physical contact stimuli, such as holding the child in one's arms or carrying the child on one's back, we were able to get good results. We will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of such procedures.

2015年5月~2016年11月に,福島県内の阿武隈川水系の13定点においてさし網や延縄などを用いた調査を行い,716個体(体長9.9~65.0 cm)のチャネルキャットフィッシュが採集された。本種は阿武隈川の本流で採集され,特に発電用ダム(信夫ダム,蓬莱ダム)の貯水域やその下流域で多く採集された。信夫ダムでは,2008年に比べて CPUE が著しく増加していることや,GSI の高い成熟個体や未成熟の小型個体が多く採集されたことから,近年,ダム周辺の水域を中心に,再生産により本種の個体数が急激に増大している可能性が考えられた。雌の GSI の季節変化より,本水系における産卵期は5~6月ごろと推定された。信夫ダムにおいて,さし網および延縄により採集された魚類のうち,本種が占める割合は非常に高く(各64.2%および100%),本水系における適切な駆除手法の確立が急務であると考えられた。
