The purpose of the present study was to elucidate the relationship between sleep pattern and mental health in young universitystudents. In total, 152 university students participated in this study. Sleep quality index(PSQI), physical fitness, mentalhealth(GHQ 30)and lifestyles were surveyed. Total score of physical fitness was evaluated by hand grip, sit ups, bending forwardwith long sitting position, standing broad jump, repeated side jump and 20 m shuttle run. There was no significant differencein total score of physical fitness between male and female students, whereas, PSQI and GHQ in female subjects were significantlyimpaired compared to male subjects. In contrast, breakfast intake in male subjects was less compared to female subjects.There were significant relationships between total score of PSQI and GHQ in both male and female subjects. Moreover, breakfastintake was related to PSQI in female subjects, whereas no relationship in male subjects. In conclusion, it was suggested thatbreakfast intake might improve mental health irrespective of gender differences. The present study was aimed to survey the relation between habitual exercise and the quality of nocturnal sleep. Questionnaires on exercise behavior and sleep were given to 452 male and female unuversity students. The questionnaires included such questions as; on their habitual exercise the kind of exercise, duration and frequency of doing the exercise, the period of continuation, rating of perceived exertion (RPE) and subjective feeling of their exercise load for health (heavy, suitable, light). TMIN Life Habits Inventory were conducted to ascertain the quality of sleep. The results of all the students showed that they were more likely to experience insufficient asleep period (64.6%), were not refreshed in the morning (40.0%), found unbearable daytime napping (38.5%). The student group with habitual exercise (n=237) showed significant "more easily fall asleep" (p<0.05) and" more insufficient asleep period" (p<0.05) tendencies than the group without habitual exercise. Further, three groups divided by their subjective feeling toward their exercise load showed some significantly different quality of sleep. The students who felt that their habitual exercise was "suitable" or "light" showed better sleep, with reference to frequency of naid-sleep awakening and deepness of sleep, as compared with students who felt that their exercise was "heavy" (p<0.05). These results indicate that suitable or light habitual exercise might facilitate better quality of sleep while heavy exercise which strongly activate the sympathetic nervous system, pose a risk to disrupt sleep.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the efforts of older women to practice during a resistance exercise class and their exercise behavior change and related factors 2 years post the classes from a qualitative analysis. The exercise class was a self-weighted resistance exercise training for muscle strength maintenance designed by Tetsuo Fukunaga. Eighteen elderly women of the subjects of this study, participated in the exercise class for muscle strength maintenance for care prevention held in F town, Hokkaido, Japan, in 2019 for three months. Interviews were conducted four times in August and November 2020 and October and November 2021, and semi-structured interviews were conducted using the recall method. Responses were recorded and converted to text data. The interview data organized at three months, six months, one year, and two years after two years post the exercise class were analyzed for qualitative factors related to exercise practice effort and exercise behavior change using KH coder as a text mining method. The practical status of exercise was evaluated based on the total number of squats performed at home during the class period records. As a result, 66.7% of the subjects continued to exercise as maintenance and action phases two years post the classes. The co-occurrence networks characteristics of the qualitative factors obtained from the linguistic trends of the continuation group over the two-year period were "program content," "effectiveness of practice," "human and environmental support," "self-efficacy," and "simplicity of exercise." Correspondence analysis by exercise practice effort showed that in the continuation group, the high practice group, which had more exercise practice in class, showed positive language characteristics such as "habitual effort state," "effectiveness of practice," "social support," "simplicity of exercise," and "positive evaluation of exercise."

芳香のセラピー効果の判定には,主観的な感情による評価と客観的な生理的効果の両面から確認する必要がある.私たちは,クレペリンテストを45分間負荷した後,カモミール茶(または同量・同温の白湯)を飲ませ,自律神経機能(心電図R-R間隔データと体温)と感情指標(質問紙MCLによって測定した快感情,リラックス感,不安感)の変化を同時に測定した.カモミール茶を飲んだ後にリラックス感得点が上昇した.一方,自律神経機能では心拍数と交感神経活動の指標とされるLF/HF比の低下が大きく,末梢皮膚温の上昇が大きかった.カモミール茶を飲んだ後のリラックス感得点の変化量と自律神経機能の変化量の間に,有意な相関が認められた.これらの結果から,客観的に評価される生理指標の値と主観的な感情得点がかなり良く対応すると考えられる.
