We report that a nest of mud-dauber wasp, Sceliphron sp., was found in the Yagibara Shell Mound of Jomon cultural age in Chiba Prefecture, Honshu, Japan. This is the first record to be found nest of Aculeata from shell mounds. Though all Sceliphron species recorded from Honshu, Japan have been considered to be invasive insects, at least one species is considered to be native.

Stenichneumon Thomson, 1893 comprises 23 species in the Holarctic, Oriental, and Neotropical regions. In Japan, five species, S. culpator iwatensis Uchida, 1926, S. militarius naironis Uchida, 1926, S. nigriorbitalis Uchida, 1930, S. odaiensis Uchida, 1932 and S. posticalis (Matsumura, 1912) have been recorded. Here, we report new host records, S. culpator iwatensis emerged from pupa of Autographa nigrisigna (Walker, 1858) and S. posticalis emerged from pupa of Ctenoplusia agnata (Staudinger, 1892). The latter host was collected as larva, and this is the first information on the host life stage attacked by this genus. New distributional records are S. nigriorbitalis from Shikoku and S. odaiensis from Hokkaido. In addition, we provided an identification key to Japanese species of the genus.

茨城県つくば市ならびにつくばみらい市において,2006年と2007年の5月に,レンゲソウまたはカラスノエンドウで採集したアルファルファタコゾウムシ蛹から羽化した寄生性天敵を調査した.その結果,ヒメバチ科のシンクイトガリヒメバチ,マツケムシヒラタヒメバチ,アカハラタコゾウヤドリヒラタヒメバチ,ミイロトガリヒメバチ,Bathythrix kuwanae,タコゾウアカヤドリバチ,Gnotus sp.の7種とコバネコバチ科のTrichomalopsis shirakii,Dibrachoides sp.の2種,ならびにヤドリバエ科のBessa parallela 1種が認められた.このうち,ミイロトガリヒメバチとT.shirakiiの2種は,アルファルファタコゾウムシに対する寄生は初記録であった.寄生性天敵の寄生率は2006年が2.8%,2007年が4.3%であった.シンクイトガリヒメバチとマツケムシヒラタヒメバチの2種が優占種であった.

ウメエダシャクは北海道、本州、四国、九州、対馬に分布するシャクガ科シャクガ亜科の一種である。発生は年1回で幼虫はウメ、モモ、スモモ、ナシ、アンズ、リンゴなどのバラ科果樹類のほか、ニシキギ(ニシキギ科)、エゴノキ(エゴノキ科)、ガマズミ(スイカズラ科)など、7科17種の葉を食害する多食性の蛾として知られている。また、多発生した場合はウメの害虫として認識されることもある。本種の寄生蜂に関する報告はこれまでないが、今回、蛹から羽化した寄生蜂を調査した結果、5科6種の寄生蜂を確認することができたのでここに報告する。
