In this paper, we describe light emission from electric stimulation of TAKUAN which isrepresentative of the pickled Japanese radish. As a result of experiments on various pickled radish we confirmed that strong light emission appeared in TAKUAN. Steam, along with a peculiar smell isobserved when alternating current or direct current voltage is gradually applied in TAKUAN. The light emission, which is accompanied by a discharge phenomenon within the TAKUAN that is in contact with the electrode, appears after the generation of the steam. We conclude that flame reaction is associated with this light emission because black powder was formed after the light emission. This light emission was observed in the vicinity of the electrode and soon after the steam ends regardless of type of power supply and polarity. The emission process appears quickly after the generation of steam stops.

"Theory of International Politics", written by Kenneth N. Waltz in 1979, has had a profound influence on North American academic society of International Politics, and the field of security studies in particular, since the 1980s. In this book, by advocating "balance-of-power theory", he revived "the balance of power" and "realism" (This "realism" was called "neorealism" and was separated from Morgenthau's traditional realism). Waltz's balance-of-power theory has been criticized mainly by"non-realists" such as neo-liberal institutionalists or constructivists, and relatively, their comments have drawn the attention. However, some realists who emerged after Theory of International Politics (I call them "Post-Waltz") suggest very impressive alternatives of Waltz's theory, too. This article is the comparisons of Waltz and Post-Waltz about the balance of power, and investigates these three issues: (1) From what viewpoints Waltz and Post-Waltz explain and estimate the balance of power? (2) How Post-Waltz criticize, revise or follow Waltz's balance-of-power theory to apply it to their own foreign policy analyses? (3) To what extent the hypothesis of the balance of power are consistent with the reality of international politics and foreign policy?

Miyazaki Hayao is one of the major animation directors, representative of Japan. Nausicaa of the Valey of the Wind is his lifework. Miyazaki began the story in 1982 as a manga (Japanese comics) serial in the Japanese magazine Animage. In 1984,he made a movie version of it. The movie follows the story of the first two volumes of the manga. After the movie was released, Miyazaki continued the story in the manga and finally finished it in 1994. The stage in Nausicaa is the post-apocalyptic world. The story is set thousands of years future. The war called "Seven Days of Fire" wiped out almost all the human civilization. After the war, the earth was covered with the forest of fungi called "Sea of Corruption" which emitted poison air. People lived in places around the forest and established small kingdoms. Nausicaa is a messianic princess of a small kingdom named "the Valley of the Wind". She struggles to save people and to save the earth. In this article, I compared two versions of Nausicaa (manga and movie) and I showed that the structure of the movie version is totally different from that of the manga version.

本稿ではアガンベンの権力論を考察した。2014年における彼の《ホモ・サケル》プロジェクトの終了に伴い、そこでの権力論を再構成するためである。彼は、主権権力、例外状態、閾、排除‐包含、剝き出しの生といった概念を用いて、権力を論じている。これらの概念は、古典古代と現代をつなぐという彼独自の観点のなかで論じられている。こうした彼の議論を振り返るなかで、彼に対する批判とその有効性を検討した。さらにアガンベンが提起する新しい政治の可能性については、脱構成的権力という概念から考察を加えた。

Japanese Comics, Which are one of Cool Japan promotion program, aiming to support Japanese contents business, have been attracted attention from abroad, Especially, most international students motivated to study Japanese because of an interest in pop-culture, the comics and anime. Based on this background, the purpose of this paper is focused on analyzing statistically scripts and onomatopoeia which are constituents of comics by means of natural language processing. We discussed lexical variety and balance between scripts and onomatopoeia for four categories in comics, information and knowledge by those analysis and future works.

道徳教育の資料として、スポーツを題材としたものは多い。スポーツと道徳との結びつきは、すでに明治年間に見られ、旧制中学校の生徒自身もスポーツが精神の向上に資するという主張を行っていた。日清戦争後の時期は、国家を担う人物の身体の養成という観点で精神的側面は希薄であったが、日露戦争前後には、文弱・奢侈といった青年批判論に呼応し、運動の精神的な意義を主張するようになった。さらに1910年代の野球害毒論に対する反論として、野球を修養の手段として論じるものも現れた。このように、時代状況や外部からの批判に応じ、運動の精神性や道徳的意義を主張する論が生徒の側からも生まれたといえるだろう。and sports was discussed by junior highschool students in Meiji Era. The significance of sport has been discussedin association with the state and army after Sino-Japanese War. The sport was discussed as countermeasureagainst the corrupt youth before and after Russo-Japanese War. Around 1919, enthusiasm in baseball wascritisized. But some students refuted such criticism. They insist that they can improve their personarity(shuyo)by baseball.

本稿の目的は,筆者がこれまで行ってきた元禄から享保期の上層民を対象とした経済思想史研究の論点を整理し,それをまとめるための視角を設定することにある。本稿では,江戸時代の実務家の経済思想史研究の流れの中に本研究を位置付け,元禄・享保期に着目する理由を明らかにした上で,経済思想史研究と書物の社会研究史の架橋となるような視角として,当該期の実務家の思想の中に「作為」の意識を析出するという枠組みを設定している。それを踏まえて,当該期の上層民に「自然」なものと認識されていた社会観・経済観を概観する。そして,元禄期に萌芽的に見られた「作為」の意識が,幕府の制度変更に対応・対抗する形で成長していく過程を,田中休愚の事例を中心に考察している。I have, in the last three years, published several papers concerning economic thoughts of upper town people from GENROKU to KYOHO period. This paper aims to review main points of these papers and constitute a study framework for this theme. In the first part of this paper, I will survey previous studies of history of economic thoughts and will try to position my study into them. I assume that in economic thoughts of upper town people in these periods, we can detect personalities which allowed them to adapt themselves to changes in society and economy they faced. They also tried to take ingenuity and intentional activities to improve their domestic economy and then their local economy.

本稿は、経済制裁への理解を深めるため、経済制裁をめぐる以下の4つの問いを考察する。経済制裁は有効なのか。なぜ国家は経済制裁を利用するのか。どのような状況下で経済制裁は有効になるのか。経済制裁の成否はどのような基準によって評価されるべきなのか。従来の研究は、経済制裁は有効なのかという不毛な問いに焦点を当てる傾向があった。また、経済制裁を「強制」(ターゲットの譲歩や行為の修正)という観点からのみ考察し、「強制」に成功したか否かという基準だけから制裁の有効性や妥当性を評価しがちであった。本稿は、経済制裁には他にも重要な目的――「シグナリング」と「封じ込め」――が存在することを指摘し、こうした傾向を批判する。さらに、これら3つの異なる目的が、どのような状況下で成功しうるのかを考察する。最後に本稿は、経済制裁の有効性と妥当性をどのように評価すべきなのかを考える。経済制裁の成否は、「強制」の成否によってではなく、制裁を利用する国家の戦略状況の改善という観点から評価されるべきである。

In the second half of the 1990s, the analog technology changed to the digital technology in the creation of Japanese animation. In this research the Japanese animation directing techniques of image expression are examined, and how the animation directing techniques have changed is discussed. Around the end of the 1990s, many digital animation movies were born in the world. Many Japanese animation directors were inspired by them, and as a result, Japanese animation developed. In this paper along with the development of the animation directing techniques, the future prospect of the technology is also discussed.

One out four people are 65 years and over in Japan now. We must support this super-aging society by technology. In Japan, The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare have started a project for the Development and Introduction of Robotic Devices for Nursing Care. The US and Europe also are struggling to find a robotic solution for the aging problem. Considering these movements, Shonan Institute of Technology has organized the SIT Advanced Robot Research Center to Start researching on elderly care robots and has joined the project of the Sagami robot industry special ward. This paper shows the current status of the research for eldery care robots in the world.

In 1999, the Child Protection Law against Child Prostitution and Child Pornography was enacted. It was epochmaking in some respect but controversial in others. This article addresses the positive and negative aspects of this law and provides some suggestions on how to improve the law to better protect children.

The vocabulary referring to sound, onomatopoeia, can be semantically analyzed into morphemic elements. The analysis of the onomatopoeia leads us to find that speakers in different language cultures take different meanings from each sound based on their aural images. This paper observes form-meaning correspondences in English onomatopoeia from the viewpoint of L2 learners, comparing them with those in Japanese, in order to figure out some differences of aural images perceived by English speakers and Japanese speakers. Cultural differences in aural images are basically caused by two backgrounds : 1) lack of formal distribution in either language and 2) linguistic experiences of speakers. The latter would be harder but important for L2 learners to find, such as subtle distributional differences in articulatory places between English plosives and those in Japanese, the meanings of [± voiced] in either language, and so on.

本稿では,日本の学校段階の概念、特に中等教育と高等教育との接続について,アメリカの学士課程教育の歴史との比較によって,その歴史的・構造的問題を考察する。アメリカの歴史においては,カレッジでの学士課程教育が中等教育に属するか高等教育に属するかが議論され続けてきた結果,学士課程教育は次第に中等教育と高等教育をつなぐ役割を担うようになった。一方で日本の学校段階の構造は,そのような段階的な接続をほとんど意図していない。この違いは,日本における高等教育の大衆化に伴って現れる問題の原因の一端となっていると考えられる。This paper examines the historical and structural problems of the Japanese concept of the educational stages, especially the connection between secondary and higher education, by comparing it with the history of undergraduate education in America. In American history, as a result of continuous debates on whether undergraduate education in colleges belongs to secondary education or higher education, undergraduate education has gradually come to play a role in connecting secondary and higher education. On the other hand, the structure of the educational stages in Japan has little intention of such a gradual connection. This difference is part of the reason for the problems that appear with the popularization of higher education in Japan.

本稿は,中等教育において必修となっている「総合的な学習(探究)の時間」の教育課程内の位置づけと意義について,実践例を交えて検討することで,中学校及び高等学校のカリキュラム編成の一助とすることを目的とする。ここでは国立教育政策研究所が示す「総合的な学習の時間」の事例について,奈須の述べる「コンピテンシー・ベイス」の教育が持つ「危うさ」という観点から,改訂版ブルーム・タキソノミーの枠組みを用いて分析することでその問題点を指摘し,これを補完し得るものとしてアメリカ・ハワイ州におけるP4Cの実践を紹介する。 This paper examines the Period of Integrated Studies in secondary schools in Japan, from the viewpoint of the "risks which competency-based education has," by using the framework of Revised Bloom's Taxonomy and comparison with an activity of P4C Hawaii. As a result, representative cases of the Period of Integrated Studies contain such risks and the activity in P4C Hawaii contains hints to solve them.
