The Clothoid is a curve which has linearly changing curvature in relation to the length of the curve. By choosing the curve as the interpolating curve between freely given 2-dimensional point series, we can obtain a smooth free curve. In this report a practical method of Clothoidal interpolation, called "tangent method", is mentioned. The algorithm of the method is derived and some examples are shown.

This paper considers salt water fishing tackles consisting of line, hook, bar float, primary sinker and secondary sinkers. The line with the sinkers and the hook are modeled by a multi-link system connected with the float. A new algorithm is proposed to calculate acceleration terms satisfying Newtonian kinematical equations. The computational requirement varies only linearly with the number of links because the algorithm is based on a sweep-out operation on a threefold diagonal matrix with a simple structure. A comparison is made with a well-known Featherstone algorithm that is based on articulated body inertias. Animation results with 22 links subjected to tidal flow and wave produce typical tackle behaviors consistent with expert experience. The animation is useful for design of tackles and discrimination drills of fish hits.

The use of hemispherical concave specimen is proposed to evaluate orientation-dependent etch rate of single crystal silicon. Etch rate is calculated from dimensional change of the hemisphere during etching. Etch rate distribution to the total orientation has been obtained for the etchant of 40wt%KOH aqua solution. The orientation showing maximum etch rate was [110] at 40°C. It deviates from [110] with an increase of temperature. The maximum point seems to move toward [320]. This fact indicates that the etched profile varies with etching temperature even when the etchant and the initial masking pattern are the same. The effect of temperature on the etch profile is experimentally proved. Variation in etch profile according to the change in temperature is theoretically explained by the etch rate data.

The speckle interferometer based on multi camera technology using two cameras is applied to a dynamic measurement in this paper. A phenomenon that the package of an electronic device is deformed while running is investigated by the novel technique. To perform high precise measurement by this method, the optimum conditions for measurements are also discussed concerning the size of speckle and the frequency of carrier signal. The deformation process of the object can be analyzed high-resolution. Under the optimum conditions, the deformation process of the package during the operation of an operational amplifier is measured. Then, the local maximum deformation can be estimated as 150nm from experimental results. From the results, it can be also confirmed that electronic devices are deformed by the stress of a heat by an operation every second during the operating time.

Scale-space image theory, in which a Gaussian filter with set scale parameters is used to generate a series of blurred images, has become the basic technique of computer vision. We have proposed to apply a spectral theory to compress the scale space and demonstrated some applications such as blur image generation and SIFT. In this paper, as another application of spectral theory, we propose template matching method for blurred image. A basic idea of the proposed method is changing the scale parameter of the template to fit the input blurred image. Our experimental results show that the proposed method detects the XY position and scale of the target object accurately.
