In this paper, we present the possibility of biological machining by bacteria as a new technique for metal removal. There are some kinds of chemolithotrophic bacteria which gain energy from inorganic matter and fix carbon dioxide of the air. Among them, there is a particular bacteria, Thiobacillus ferrooxidans, which "eats" metals. Machining of grooves on pure iron and pure copper by Thiobacillus ferrooxidans is experimentally investigated. The experimental analysis made it clear that biomachining was possible, since the depth of the groove generated on the workpiece increased approximately proportionally to the machining time. Furthermore, electric field assisted biomachining proved to be even more effective, because the removal rate became much higher under an electric field.

This paper introduces an example of structural integrity evaluation for Light Water Reactor (LWR) against excessive loads on Design Extension Condition (DEC). In order to assess the design acceptance level of DEC three acceptance criteria, stress basis of the current design code, strain basis and Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) of strain basis were applied. As a result the acceptance level was increased by changing the acceptance criteria from the current stress based design code to strain based or LRFD. This means that there is possibility of practical sustainability of LWR on DEC.

Recently, it is necessary to give the additional value to a basic performance of the equipment to be lost of a remarkable difference. Then, it focus on the shutter sound of the camera in this research. It aims to give the quality of sound as an additional value by making comfortable shutter sound. In aiming at making comfortable shutter sound, sound quality evaluation is used. However, when the sound quality evaluation is repeated whenever the sound is changed by a simulation and a structural modification. Then, the regression in a sound quality evaluation result and psychoacoustic parameters is made by using regression analysis. Whether it is possible to provide the directionality of sound quality is verified without sound quality evaluation.

ヒューマンフィギュアは冗長な多自由度系であるが, 関節可動範囲や環境との接触・衝突などの拘束により目的の運動を行うための実質的な自由度は減少していると考えられる。本研究で提案する計算法は, 運動を特徴付ける少数のリンクについて人力された軌道目標と, 機構や状態から受動的に決定される拘束条件が同時に満たされるヒューマンフィギュアの全身動作を生成する。運動が力学的に妥当であるために, 逆動力学計算によって求めることの出来の接触力が満たさなければならない不等式条件も拘束として含まれている。

While traditional method of estimating joiont model using thinning process of 3D shapes cannot deal sphere joint model, this paper shows a method of estimating sphere joint model by comparing 3D shapes of many frames with using texture data and technique of Reeb Graph. 3D shapes is calculated by markerless motion capture with using viewing field intersection method. This method don't need previous knowledge of joint structure. In addition, this method can create joint model of the subject which don't have any joint, for example soft-bodied creatures.

Triangle is a popular instrument of high frequency sound. But its generation mechanism of sound is not clear. In this paper, we investigated frequency characteristics and mode shape of vibration of the triangle, and measured distribution of sound pressure level around the triangle. As a result, we were able to make certain that those were closely related. Considering that hanging position is an important parameter of damping property, we experimented using a C type curved beam. We compared its damping result with that of the triangle.

Pole vaulting has progressed rapidly in terms of improved mechanical properties and better appearance by using poles made of flexible fiberglass material. Competitive pole vaulting requires specific characteristics that promote higher jumps. In this research, simulation analysis to optimize the joint torque, pole stiffness and pole length was done by using Genetic Algorithm. Here, the vaulter was expressed by the three-dimensional model including twisting the waist. Genetic algorithm in which the joint torques of the vaulter were expressed in terms of spline interpolating curves. From the results, it was clarified that there is optimal pole characteristic to the vaulter's initial velocity.

本論文は, ねじの幾何学的形状を考慮して, より実機に近いモデルでのねじ締結体の有限要素法による解析方法について紹介したものである. これによると, らせん状に突起したねじ山を有するねじ部の, 三次元有限要素法による解析方法が, 明らかにされたのみならず, 従来解析がなされていなかった植込ボルトおよび押えボルトなどのねじ締結体の軸対称有限要素法による解析方法も明らかにされた.

溶接残留応力が疲労き裂伝ぱにおよぼす影響を80kg/mm^2級高張力剛を用い, き裂開閉口現象に注目して実験的に検討した. すなわち, サブマージ溶接した縦突合わせ溶接継手試験片と素材試験片における横われを想定した中央切欠きからの疲労き裂伝ぱをしらべ, 溶接景趣試験片における残留応力の影響も素材試験片における応力比の影響も有効応力拡大係数範囲ΔK_<eff>を用いれば統一的な定量的評価が可能であることを明らかにした.

Modeling the pressure-diffusion process is discussed to improve the prediction of turbulent recirculating flows by a second moment closure. Since the recent DNS research of a turbulent recirculating flow suggeted that the pressure-diffusion process of the turbulence energy was significant in the recirculating region, the present study focuses on the rapid part of the process consisting of the mean shear. This rapid pressure-diffusion model is developed for the Reynolds stress equation using the two-component limit turbulence condition and added to a low Reynolds number two-component-limit full second moment closure for evaluation. Its effects are discussed through applications of turbulent recirculating flows such as a trailing-edge and a back-step flows. Encouraging results are obtained though some margins to be improved still remain.

本研究では,摩擦トルクが極めて小さく汚染の心配が全くない静圧空気送りねじの開発に取組んだ。ねじをモデル化したコニカル軸受の静特性理論解析法は,実験的にその妥当性が確かめられ,静圧空気送りねじの設計および静特性解析の基礎が確立された。この結果をもとに静圧空気送りねじを実際に設計,試作し,半径方向および軸方向負荷容量を測定した。さらに,これらの測定結果と理論解析結果とを比較検討した。

噴霧冷却の基礎研究として、均質、単一の液滴列(サブクール液滴)を用い、特に高加熱面温度領域(非ぬれ領域)の伝熱特性につき実験的に研究した。その結果、熱伝達は加熱面温度によらず一定となること、液サブクールに比列して増加すること、液滴1個当たり伝熱量qは液滴の体積に比例し、液滴速度にほとんどよらないこと、qに関するデータは実用的な次式でよくまとまることを示した。q=π/(12)d^3ρcΔT_<SUB>

An improved near-wall k-ε turbulence model is proposed considering the two characteristic length scales for the dissipation rate, one very near the wall and the other remote from the wall, which are then related to the length scale for turbulent momentum transfer. Consequently, the function f_μ included in the eddy diffusivity model represents two distinct physical effects of low turbulent Reynolds number and wall proximity. The present k-ε model is evaluated for its application to fully developed turbulent pipe and channel flows and found to resolve two serious weaknesses common to previous k-ε models; i.e., it correctly predicts the wall-limiting behavior of the major turbulence quantities such as Reynolds stress, turbulent kinetic energy and its dissipation rate near the wall, and the distributions of eddy diffusivity of momentum and turbulent kinetic energy even in the region far from the wall.

Heat transfer characteristics and flow patterns were measured over the plate for various separation distances between the nozzle exit and target plate when the air issuing from a sharpedged cross-shaped nozzle impinges on the plate. The local heat transfer coefficients in the radial direction for different circumferential positions were calculated using the wall temperatures measured by means of thermocouples, and the flow patterns were observed using a oil-titanium IV oxide method. The isotherms of the infrared images were also measured using an infrared radiometer with a two-dimensional array of InSb sensors. The geometric axes were switched due to the self-induced velocity of a vortex filament ; the convex corners became flat and the concave corners generated outward ejection. The distribution of the iso-heat-transfer-coefficient contours corresponds well to the flow pattern and the isotherm contours. These contours extended diagonally and demonstrated the Andrew's cross pattern for the short separations, subsequently becoming the octagonal patten, and then becoming circular at large separations. The correspondence of the heat transfer characteristic to the flow behaviors, and the heat transfer mechanism were also described.
