A flight controller based on Simple Adaptive Control (SAC) method was implemented to Multi-Purpose Aviation Laboratory MuPAL-α developed by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) to demonstrate the effectiveness of SAC flight controller in the serious fault case where the longitudinal stability was suddenly reduced in the air. A parallel feed-forward compensator was added to make the whole system meet the ASPR (Almost Strictly Positive Real) condition that is necessary for the plant to be stabilized by the SAC controller. In order to represent the fault case in a real flight test, a "pseudo-fault term" was added to the original controller equipped with MuPAL-α. Through numerical simulations, hardware in the loop tests and flight experiments, it was revealed that the SAC could stabilize the aircraft with such a fatal fault while a conventional PID control system could not stabilize the plane.

On the vibrating mechanism of a valve which has an elastic plate installed parallel to the fluid flow, there are some monographs which dealt with musical instruments, such as clarinet and oboe, but the selfexcited vibration seemed to have been neglected. In the present paper it is described that when fluid passes through the narrow spaces, between the parallel plates which can move vertically by a spring action, an equation of motion of the valve and an equation of continuity which involves the compressibility of fluid are obtained. Then from them a differential equation of 3rd order is introduced and so by means of Routh's criterion, it is revealed that such a valve can give rise to a selfexcited vibration under a certain condition. An experiment verified this result by flowing air through this valve.

蒸発管内密度波振動(流れ逸走を含む)の安定限界に対し, 各種因子が及ぼす効果について, 広範囲に解析的に検討した. 圧力降下一定の均一加熱管を対象に, 均質流モデルを用いて解析し, 7個の無次元パラメータによるスケーリングが可能であることを示した. また, 基礎式を線形化, ラプラス変換して得た特性方程式を用いて, ラプラス平面の虚軸をパラメータ空間に写像(ネイマルクのD分割法)することにより, いくつかのパラメータ平面で安定限界の形状を示した. 特に線形パラメータ面上では, D分割境界線の形状に双曲線状のものとだ円状のものがあり, 前者では, 安定限界は対応する漸近線にほぼ一致することを示した. また蒸発管内流動時間と安定限界振動数との関係についても検討し, 奇数次の振動が可能なこと, 本モデルでは極端な例を除いて基本振動が最不安定であることなどを示した

When an explosion occurs in chemical plants, the explosion pressure leads to collapse of pipes and equipment. Even if pipes are not destroyed immediately by the explosion pressure, the cumulative damage caused by the sequential explosion pressure will bring about collapse. Therefore, the disaster simulation program, which takes the cumulative damage into consideration, has been developed. In this program, three-dimensional explosion pressure applied to pipes can be calculated, and the equivalent stress acting on the connecting bolts of pipes can be analyzed. The cumulative damage is estimated by use of the obtained stress, Manson-Coffin's rule and Miner's rule. As an example, the cumulative damage over time for pipes in a model plant has been analyzed. As a result, it is shown that the proposed computer program is very useful for reliability evaluation and installation of pipes in chemical plants.

Human reliability in a complex system has been studied to established the complete safety by analyzing the operator's performance in a control room of a nuclear power plant. In this paper, the connection of a mathematical model with the questionnaire to the plant designers and operators resulted in proposing a fuzzy tool for evaluating the quality of the recent automated control system. The present paper method is capable of calculating human performance by summing the weighted utility of attributes ; (i) this elicits the two dominant attributes with a modified fuzzy measures learning identification algorithm (FLIER) to describe the ill-defined man-machine system, (ii) FLIER reduces a set of attributes until human tasks will be represented clearly, (iii) a change in the performance is illustrated on the two-dimensional map of the dominant attributes with a function of the automated level, (iv) the designers and the operators decided the balance of the manipulated/automated phase on the after careful face-to-face communication.

By the development of the field of calculation dynamics, the CAE software is complicated with many functions. In addition, it is difficult to predict various analytical techniques and methods that will be suggested from now on. Therefore the software development using a design pattern is flexible, and extensibility is provided. We put Visitor pattern ,Decorator pattern together, and this article applied the Option pattern that simulated an aspect point to FEM program and evaluated the effectiveness and utility.

The pacific type passenger locometive (type 18900) has been a typical one of locomotives for express trains on the main lines of Japanese Government Railways. In order to meet the requirement for larger tractive power of locomotive, as a result of the introduction or steel cars, causing the increased weight of the train, the three cylinder pacific type locomotive (type C53) has been newly designed, constructed and put in the above mentioned service. In this paper, the writer treats the characteristics and special features in the construction of this new type locomotive.

This study was to examine the optimum height of chair for standing up operation and to inspect the shake of the center of sole pressure and the characteristics of EMG during the standing movement. Standing movements performed at the height of seating posture (hip, knee and ankle joint were 90 degree), and at he height of ±2%, ±4% and ±6% of the seating posture. The center of sole pressure was measured by a force-plate and the EMG's of the muscles of lower limb were measured. The shake of the center of sole pressure was larger at higher sitting height, on the other hand, the EMG activity was larger at lower sitting height. The large shake of the center of sole pressure means the large transfer of center of Gravity, consequently the posture of standing up operation from high chair decreased the load of lower limbs.

In the present treatment system of Twin-To-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, surgeon uses visual measurement of endoscope image in doing the identification of anastomotic vessel, before taking decisions to do some treatments on suspected vessel. Given this factor, we proposed a navigation system that may lead the surgeon to find targets for treatment quantitatively, to improve the treatment's safety and accuracy. For the first step in developing the system, we proposed a vascular mapping system to make an overall view of placenta. We developed a software application to make corrections on the image distortion of 2D-picture that is taken from endoscope, and do images combine to get the overall map of the diagnosed target. The effectiveness of the application was verified experimentally, which were conducted by considering the motion range of endoscope.

In this paper, we elucidate the standard creep movement forms (S-shaped curve) of a snake, which is the typical locomotive movement shown by snakes. Serpentine curve in the constant steady state velocity and ex-serpentine curve in the constant steady state acceleration are derived for the uniform creep locomotion of the snake, through analyzing physiologically its muscle characteristics, Muscular force is also discussed for these two types uniform locomotive curves. The results proposed here are demonstrated by computer simulation to agree with previously reported experimental results (Y. Umetani and S. Hirose, Trans. of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, 10-5 1974, 513-518, in Japanese).

This paper describes an immersive virtual environment in which one can cooperate with a virtual character through spoken dialogue and arrange animals, flowers, musical instruments, and pieces of furniture in a dedicated area. This study is motivated by animal therapy and sandplay therapy and directed for building a virtual environment that gives a sense of peace.

In this paper, we develop an associative memorization architecture of the musical features from time sequential data of the music audio signals. This associative memorization architecture is constructed by using of Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) and Conditional RBM (CRBM). Challenging purpose of our research is development of the new composition system that automatically creates a new music based on some existing music. In this composition system, characteristics or common musical features of existing music are learned and extracted, then a new different musical melody having such musical features is created. This paper illustrates the important former part of the whole system.
