The effect of ultrasonic wave application on film boiling heat transfer is investigated. A series of heat-transfer experiments are carried out using a fine heater made of a 0.20-mm-dia. horizontal platinum wire, which is immersed in saturated ethyl alcohol and exposed to a 28 kHz ultrasonic wave. The heat-transfer coefficient increases with the increase of power supplied to a ferrite-type vibrator and it is doubled for the maximum in this experimental condition. The minimum heat-flux point is also improved. At a lower degree of superheat than the MHF line, nucleate boiling and film boiling coexist separately along the platinum wire with a high reproducibility. The film boiling configuration is also observed through photograpty. Under a high intensity of ultrasonic wave, many tiny bubbled begin to generate and the shapes of large bubble becomes rather irregular.

This paper presents experimental results on the real value of the minimum-heat-flux (MHF) -point temperature for subcooled pool boiling of water from a horizontal cylinder and an advanced form of the correlation for subcooled film-boiling heat-transfer proposed in the previous paper. First, experiments to observe the collapse process of film boiling were conducted by using a high speed video. The experimental results show that the collapse mode is classified into the propagative collapse with a precursory local-collapse and the coherent collapse. Second, the propagation velocity of collapse front and the mean surface temperature upon the local collapse followed by the propagative collapse were measured. The experimental results show that, for higher propagation-velocities, the MHF-point temperature decreases and approaches the value upon coherent collapse which has only a slight dependence on liquid subcooling. Finally, an advanced form of the correlation for subcooled film-boiling heat-transfer reported in the previous paper is proposed. This equation is in good agreement with the present data of of water at subatmospheric pressures and the existing data of liquid sodium and freon R-11 at atmospheric pressure and pressurized water.

In our 3rd report, we introduced a Lennard-Jones (LJ) potential parameter based on the potential obtained by ab initio calculation and collision cross section from the Wang-Chang, Uhlenbeck and Taxman's theory and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. In the present study, we have improved the dynamic molecular collision (DMC) model to callculate the property of MD simulation better than the previous model. To confirm its validity we calculated the equilibrium state, the transport coefficient (viscosity coefficient and heat conductivity) at various temperatures and the normal shock wave by the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method using the DMC model and compared the results with other theoretical and experimental results. Consequently, we found that the diatomic rarefied gas flows could be simulated very well using our model. These results were compared with those obtained by the Larsen Borgnakke model. It was found that this model was more efficient than the previous model.

脊髄損傷などによって車いすを使用する場合、退院して自宅に帰るのに住宅改修が必要となることが多い。当センターでは住宅改修の支援を行っているが、退院後の生活がどのようになるかがわからない、住宅改修をどのように進めていいかわからない、など大きな不安を感じている方々も多い。そこで、これらの不安を解消したり、住環境整備のための円滑な準備に繋がるような、住環境整備に関する情報提供のための映像資料作成を試みた。

We are developing an electromagnetically levitated vibration isolationsystem for micro vibration isolation. It supports a floating isolationtable without any mechanical contact by using active magnetic bearings to reduce vibration from a floor. The system aims to regulate the microvibration in 6 degree of freedom. Two kinds of controller are designed and confirmed to levitate the table stably by experiments. A series of simulation show that the controllers have good effect on the vibration isolation.

遠心圧縮機の各要素の流れに基づく損失をモデル化し,流れと損失との関係を実験で得られた実数などを含んだ形で数式化して,要素間の相互作用を無視して積み重ねることにより性能を予測する方法を述べた.特に,従来の方式に比べて,せばまり率を導入して理論揚程や流れ角度の精度向上を計るとともに,不完全ガスを含む各種ガスに適用できる.また,計算例により本性能予測法を実際に適用する場合の問題点を検討した.

In this paper, separation of laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) due to PAHs and incandescence (LII) due to soot by time-resolved measurement was demonstrated for the propane diffusion flame. Laser-induced fluorescence method for the measurement of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in diffusion flame was developed. A KrF excimer laser was used for excite the PAHs. Strong laser-induced incandescence due to soot was appeared with fluorescence signal due to PAHs. In order to separate the signals into LII and the PAHs-LIF detected from diffusion flame, time-resolved measurement was carried out. A pico-second gate CCD camera with a image intensifier was used taking a time-resolved image. From the two different images, which were taken at different time-delay, PAHs-LIF and LII were obtained. Intensity distributions of PAHs-LIF and LII were measured on the flame axis. Overlap region of the LIF and LII was observed around the onset position of the yellow flame. In this region, LIF intensity decreased and LII intensity increased along the flow direction. It seemed that this region was transition region from the PAHs to soot and was attributed the presence of soot precursor.

The present paper investigates the laser sintering of titanium sheets toward the fabrication of porous artificial bones. The novelty lies in the use of a titanium powder sheet mixed with an organic binder and the application of selective laser sintering to the fabrication of a laminated porous structure. Alternating irradiation of Nd: YAG pulses with short scanning paths results in the suppression of distortion of the sintered part as well as enhanced mechanical properties. Under the appropriate conditions identified in the experiment, a bending strength of 63MPa and a Young's modulus or 1.5GPa are attained when the load is applied parallel to the lamination direction, whereas load vertical to the lamination direction yields 79MPa and 1.8GPa, respectively. The size of pores varies from 200 to 300μm, and the porosity is approximately 65%. These values, other than Young's modulus, are almost equivalent to those of human bones.

回転円盤の周緑部に等間隔に等間隔に設置された回転自在なローラを壁面に設置された駆動ガイドに沿わせることによって, 円盤の回転運動を移動本体の線形運動に変換するいわゆるクロール型移動機構の開発を行ってきた。これまで, 階段昇降機に適用してその静寂性, 共存性を確認してきた。また, 円盤を進行方向と平行にすることによって, 駆動ガイドをラックとして構成できることも示した。今回は円弧軌道において内回り, 外回りのラックについて幾何学的, 運動学的性質について述べる。

The present paper describes the implementation of and experiments on a three-axis tactile sensor applying an optical wave guide plate. The sensor is comprised of a sparse array of columnar feelers and a dense array of conical feelers, which are formed on opposite sides of a silicon rubber sheet. The columnar feelers contact objects while the conical feelers contact the acrylic optical waveguide plate. Three components of a force vector applied to the columnar feeler are identified from contact areas of four conical feelers which are covered by one columnar feeler. Contact points of conical feelers photographed using a CCD camera are transferred into a frame memory board installed in a personal computer and they are memorized as 8-bit patterns. A one-bit pattern is quantized from the 8-bit pattern by utilizing a suitable threshold value; the contact areas of conical feelers are obtained from the total number of picture cells of the one-bit pattern. In evaluation experiments, several combinations of vertical and horizontal forces are applied to the columnar feeler through a probe attached to a three-axis force sensor. The experimental results show that the three components of the force vector can be calculated from the four contact areas, and that hard material is not favorable for the conical feelers but is suitable for columnar feelers.

This paper reports on the results of using thermal-sensitive liquid crystal to study the unsteady, three-dimensional characteristics of flow reattachment on a rectangular block. The aspect ratio of the block, i. e., streamwise length versus height, was 2. A liquid crystal film sensitive to a temperature range of 40℃-50℃ was applied on the top surface of the block. The experiment was made with the block heated to 49.5℃, subjected to a uniform flow at room temperature in a low-speed wind tunnel. The liquid crystal images obtained by a CCD camera were expressed in terms of the hue level distributions for quantitative analysis. At Re=5.37×10^4, the video images show that the reattachment length x_R was varying between 1 to 1.5h, where h denotes the height of the block. Comparing the video images obtained at every 1/15 seconds, roughly 20 x_R/U_0, revealed the low-frequency unsteadiness of flow reattachment. Moreover, the finger-type image patterns noted immediately downstream of flow reattachment appeared unsteady in time and random in space. The spanwise extents of these structures were estimated to be 0.5-0.8h or 0.3-0.5x_R, which were suspected to be associated with the vortical structures developed in the separated shear layer.

In general, some defects may generate in manufacture process of an aluminum casting alloy. Therefore it is necessary to measure the overall and local strain with considering the effect of the defects in order to make reliable verification of the material property of the aluminum casting alloy. In this study, first of all, we verified accuracy of Strain Distribution Measuring System using a digital image correlation method by comparison with a strain gauge. Also, we measured the strain distribution of the aluminum casting alloy and compared it with the distribution of the defects inside the specimen which was examined with the X-ray CT system. As the result, we succeeded in measuring the local strain which seemed to be effected by the internal defects, by the present system.
