This paper proposes a new system for analyzing the shearing process using the visioplasticity method. This visioplasticity method is well known as a method for analyzing the metal deformation processing. Drawbacks to the grid method such as large deformation cannot be treated, time-consuming, Processing procedure is complex when image processing by computer is performed, have been overcome with this newly developed method. This newly developed method consists of the following steps. First, images of materials at an arbitrary stage and the following stage are input into the computer. Next, the displacement between the two stages is obtained by a correlation methed based upon the inverse Fourier transform of the phase difference between two images. By repeating this process, the whole forming process can be analyzed accurately in a short time under a wide range of deformation. In order to verify this proposal, practical shearing tests and the analysis of these tests using this system were carried out. As a result, the distribution of displacement and strains until a very large plastic deformation of the material could successfully be obtained.

The humidification system in a PEFC is handicapped by the water management under a range of temperatures including low temperatures in winter, so the performance with and without humidification was considered and simulated for a variety of fuel cell temperatures. The characteristice of a single cell with a cell area of 104 cm^2 was identified by experiments and a one dimensional model was developed to evaluate cell performance. The experiments found that water managements are important because the ionic conductivity of the membrane and catalyst layers decreases when there is little humidity. Results of start-up tests with the cell showed that the fuel cell recover the performance quickly in temperature as low as 10℃. The one dimensional simulation model showed that the measured cell performance agrees with the modeling results for various humidity conditions of the cell. If low reaction temperatures and low current densities are selected as operating conditions, it would be possible to apply the dry system at the start-up.

The effect of the mesostructure of Si_3N_4 particulates and PAI resin film on the wear of the film surface due to sliding motion of paper were experimentally examined in respect to the self-lubrication. And wear process of this hybrid resin film was simulated visually on the computer. We tried to examine wear mechanism by means of the visual simulation. The results were as follows. (1) Wear amount of mesostructural resin film due to the sliding of paper has been reduced approximately to one tenth as compared with conventional epoxy plastic film. (2) Rolling and sliding trace of Si_3N_4 has been observed over the film surface in the sliding direction of paper after sliding the paper. The trace that was found in this instance can be called as Meteoric Track. (3) We closely looked at the particle movement, made a simple model, and simulated visually. By this simulation, we could observed the particle behavior and meteoric track behavior of wear process which is not possible at actual experiment. (4) The change of wear volume in the simulation almost agreed with that of experiment. So, this simulation was suitable, and can analyze the Meteoric Wear. And, we propose the new evaluation expression of Meteoric Wear by modifying Rabinowicz's abrasive wear model.

In this paper a noise reduction of hole tone influenced by some configurations such as triangular tabs and rotational vanes has been described. As a result, the most effective number of tabs should be four with a tab height of one tenth of the nozzle diameter. The rotational vane enhances the mixing enhancement of the jet, but its rotation doesn't influence the noise reduction greatly. A standing wave of pressure fluctuation for a hole tone is produced not only at the outside of the jet, but also on the inside of the jet.

The symplectic semi-Lagrangian (SSL) method was developed in order to improve the preservation of physical quantities of semi-Lagrangian method. In the method, symplectic integrators are adopted in searching for the upstream point in the semi-Lagrangian method. The purpose of this paper is to verify the validity of symplectic Semi-Lagrangian method for a practical fluid problem, that is two-dimensional incompressible viscous flow. We compare here two kinds of implicit symplectic integrators; second-order gauss method and second-order trapezoidal rule method. The computed results show that the SSL can take such large time-step size over Courant number 1 without loosing computational accuracy. It also turns out that second-order gauss method is more accurate than the trapezoidal rule method.

In this paper, Genetic Algorithm (GA) is adopted as the searching algorithm, and the Kriging model is used as the approximation model, for the study of the influence of the elasticity of the car tires on its noise performance. Finally, Self-Organizing Map (SOM) is used to study trade-off relationships between the objective functions.

In this paper, we propose a model of foraging behavior in multiple mobile robots. In this model, robots select behavior using their activities, which adjusted by interaction between other robots. And this model is using a mechanism of fighting behavior in male crickets. We simulate this model, and which shows that this model is better than a model of multiple robots without their activities about the working efficiency at dynamical working space.

An ice storage is one of the ways of effective use of thermal energy. So, studies on a slush ice as thermal storage material have been done. We have also been studying on a suspension (slush ice) made of oil-water mixture with cooling and stirring. From our study result, it was found that a kind of additive having amino group (-NH_2) and silanol group (-SiOH) was essential to make the suspension with high IPF without adhesion of ice to a cooling wall. Moreover, formed ices in the suspension were dispersed and granular state and ices did not stick each other. In the present paper, we carried out experiments to clarify the characteristics of the suspension formation process. From the experimental results, it was found that the substance in the suspension was not ice but a compound consisting of ice and additive by a thermal analysis of fusion of the substance. Then, at very small depression of solidification point (about 7℃) all water of the mixture could be solidified by using the additive.

Water-silicone oil emulsion with a silane coupling agent was used as a phase change material. Using stainless steel vessels coated with PFA resin, experiments of forming ice with stirring were carried out under various conditions of the temperature of brine for cooling and the composition of emulsion. We investigated the correlation between cooling heat flux and ice adhesion to the cooling surface in the ice formation process. The following results were obtained, (a) Silicone oil has the effect of preventing the formed ice from adhering to the cooling surface, (b) Under a condition of the same concentration of the additive, the maximum cooling heat flux without adhesion in the case of water fraction of 80vol.% was larger than that in the case of 100%.

We have been studying on a suspension as a new thermal storage material. The suspension is made from water and some additive with cooling and stirring. When designing the ice storage system using this suspension, the thermal conductivity of the suspension is essential. The purpose of this study is to measure a thermal conductivity of the ice-water suspension with good fluidity. The thermal conductivity was measured by a hot wire method. In this study, the relationship between thermal conductivity and IPF was clarified, and thermal conductivity was expressed as a function of IPF. Moreover, the uncertainty of measurement of the thermal conductivity was examined.

HTV is the transfer vehicle to carry cargoes to the International Space Station (ISS). This paper presents the outline of structural strength test results. The strength test were planed and performed to confirm that HTV principal structure (Propulsion Module) withstand the launch load. Test results approximately correspond to predictive value derived from numerical simulation.

In order to manufacture highly economical and competitive, not only development of high technology but also logistic system are required. In this research a delivery system which forms a part of a logistic system is optimized by multi-agent system. The main parts of this system are a depot agents group, a delivery truck agents group and a rule agents group. The depot agent grasps the situation of goods to be delivered and requests all truck agents to bring it. The latter agents reply the possibility of practicing the task to the former agent. Finally the depot agent decides the delivery method by using appropriate rules in the rule agents group. This sequence of processes are carried out autonomously.
