Recently, increasing the activities for city planning or renovation that citizen participated in the world. In this study, focus on Hiroshima ECO-PEACE-MAP activity, the one of Japanese GREENMAP proposed by Wendy Brawer, researched developmental changes of schoolchildren's adjective images for their life city and corresponded to their icons use in environment map design. The children in 4th and 5th grade completed a questionnaire composed of 18 pairs of adjectives such as noisy-quiet or dark-light. Their profiles of image in part changed through 4th-5th or before-after activities, and its might be reflected cognitional development for the components of city environment as their icons use.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the changing process of the theory on architectural color by Le Corbusier from his writings. The following is an analysis of the color theory by Le Corbusier; 1) It was found that the meaning of white had changed from the first term from being the absolute value, to become a relative value in the latter term. 2) He considered the material itself as color in the latter term. 3) The concept that the colors on earth were composed with four basic colors was consistent. In conclusion, we pointed out that such a changing process had a direct relation with his notion of environment.

本稿では、被爆都市における景観研究の一環として、平和記念式典に着目し、その歴史的な景観への眼差しの演出の変遷を明らかにすることによって、記憶を持続するための空間デザイン手法に関する知見を得ることを目的する。 式典において、丹下健三(1913~2005)の構想した南北軸線による眺望景観が演出されてきた。しかし、報道写真から、その軸線は平和記念公園内で切断されていくことがわかる。その一方で、献花を行う参列者からの景観の演出は変化しておらず、丹下健三の構想した軸線と一致している。

This paper aims to consider the Kansei of the fourth graders of the elementary school to the public space through the analysis of the environmental estimation and the proposal by means of the use of Five Senses' icons and Thanks icons. The method can be categorized into three stages, the first being the conduction of the fieldwork and workshop about security in their school route and around school. In the workshop, students make suggestions about the security of a well-known city. The second being the collection of the result data discriminated in quantitative terms in order to understand their tendency and the third stage being the qualitative consideration of the proposed typical.According to the analysis during the estimation phase by the fourth graders of the elementary school, it is revealed that Thanks icons bring about the positiveness of the children.

<p>This paper aims to clarify cross points of interior decoration in Auguste Perret (1874-1954) and Le Corbusier (Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, 1887-1965) as the considerations concerning the concept of "decor" in the 20th century. As a result of chronological reorganization of the training of Jeanneret at the Perret's office and the subsequent communication between two mainly by correspendances, the difference between the two became clear in the discussion on "movable furniture" and "immovable furniture". It was also a question of strategy regarding the segmentation of structural skeleton and furniture. </p>

<p> The paper analyses Baillie Scott's words and drawings to clarify the range of his conception of 'decoration' in his theory of house building. </p><p> Section 2 focuses on his background to uncover his references to house design and decoration, discussing his activities from two perspectives: one, the significant influence of the Arts and Crafts movement on British architecture at the end of the 19th century; and two, Scott's reputation in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. </p><p> Section 3 categorises 16 of Scott's writings on house building into four groups in chronological sequence: (a) articles about suburban houses; (b) articles about country houses and cottages; (c) his book <i>Houses and Gardens</i>; and (d) studies on the rational and British character. </p><p> Section 4 examines three meanings Scott ascribed to 'decoration'. The first, <i>superficial pretentiousness</i>, resulted from his negative attitude towards commercial decoration, such as painting woodwork and covering walls and ceilings with wallpapers, which he considered merely superadded ways to conceal structures. The second meaning, <i>decoration as architectural clothing</i>, considers the relationship between buildings and decorations. In Scott's view, a building's decoration should represent the clothing of architecture with pattern and colour. This required not a superficial but an organic evaluation of the relationship between architectural decoration and other interior factors, such as furnishings or floorplans, to which decorative designs are applied. This section focuses on the relief imparted by constructive features, the architectural embellishments connecting with furnishings, and heraldic decoration to create interiors with 'homely comfort'. The third meaning is <i>structural decoration</i>. Scott thought that a building without artistic pattern and colour should possess real structural beauty to which decoration provides the finishing touch. This manifested as the expression of structural facts by strengthening the texture and colour of natural materials. The goal of this treatment was an outside appearance akin to 'the earth's crust'—built structures that harmonised with nature. </p><p> Section 5 summarises the range of Scott's conception of 'decoration' in his theory of house building with a précis in table form of the subject matter and related keywords. It is thought that Scott's subject matter gradually deepened from <i>decoration as architectural clothing to structural decoration</i>. This variation would require the extension of the meaning of the word 'decoration'. Meanwhile, the expected effect of the finishing touch changed from 'homely comfort' to 'the earth's crust'. The latter relates to the essential problem of human common sense to nature. This section deals with a discussion of common decoration and its relation to the significance of the effect of 'the earth's crust'. It also refers to the problem of relationships between components of a house. </p>

This paper aims to elucidate the conception of Hiroshima Peace Park Project (1950) as the core of the city by Kenzo Tange (1913-2005) in the postwar reconstruction period. In addition to Peace Memorial Park in the Nakajima district, he planned the cultural complex in the Motomachi district connected the Nakajima district by the axis through the Atomic bombed Dome. However, Tange realized only Hiroshima Children's Library in the Motomachi district. In this process, the external and the internal factors are integrated in the concept of the ‘factory of peace’ by Tange.

This paper aims to clarify the transformation of the landscape of tourism just after the World War II through the oral explanations by the tour guides in the reconstruction period of the sightseeing bus tours in Hiroshima. Analyzing the guide texts and the interview to the tour guides at that time, we can find out the process of the connection of the various information; the tradition of Hiroshima before the war, the historical evidences in the wartime and the postwar rehabilitation. That is to say, the atom-bombed city Hiroshima in the beginning intended to be the 'peace' city, integrating the landscapes of tourism of the various times and spaces.

&nbsp;This study aims to clarify the correlation between the Jos&eacute; Villagr&aacute;n's theory and its adaptation to the design process by analyzing the National School of Architecture project. The authors have explored on <i>Jos&eacute; Villagr&aacute;n's architectural theory</i>, sketches and historical documents according to his design methodology applied in the National School of Architecture to establish the correlation between them. Based on this exploration, it appears that, Villagr&aacute;n applied the analysis of the program in his theory and design process after Mexican architects within constant awareness of the importance of avoiding foreign styles and rescuing tradition.

This paper aims to elucidate the generation of the site vision in Le Corbusier's architectural conception concerning the hill of Ronchamp. His visit to the site inspires the first concept concerning the chapel, the esplanade and the campanile in order to materialize a "response to the landscape". However, some concepts will change their meanings and his complex vision influenced by the landscape 'from the site' will shift to the vision of a chapel united 'with the site'. Thus, the architect finds out the totality of the "architectural place" where site and building interact.

The purpose of this paper is to consider the Kansei (sensibility) of the architect Le Corbusier (1887-1965), concerning the process of change of the architectural concept on ‘Window’ from the viewpoint of Kansei-philosophy. Through the analysis of the architectural works, the author pointed out to Le Corbusier's 9 types of windows, ‘fenêtre en longueur (strip window)’, ‘pan de verre (glass wall)’, ‘pan de verre irrégulière (irregular glass wall)’, ‘pan de verre ondulatoire (wave glass wall)’, ‘aérateur (ventilator)’, ‘fenêtre (conventional window)’, ‘briques de verre (glass block)’, ‘claustras’ and ‘canon (gun)’. Through the analysis of the design process, the author concluded that Le Corbusier purified the physiological and multiple functions of the window by adapting each type of window.
