エポキシ樹脂Bisphenol A diglycidyl ether(BADGE)は缶詰,飲料缶の内面コーティング剤として用いられているが,微量の食品中への移行ならびにエストロゲン活性が報告されている.今回,母体へのBADGE曝露による新生仔脳への影響の有無を明らかにするために,欧州食品安全機構が発がん性がなく安全としたBADGE一日許容摂取量(TDI 0.15 mg/kg/日)およびその10倍量を,マウスの妊娠全期から授乳期にわたり固形食餌に混ぜて投与し,新生仔マウス(1日齢)の大脳皮質層構造および神経分化への影響について検討した.妊娠・授乳期の母体へのTDIの10倍用量のBADGE曝露により,1日齢新生仔マウス脳の頭頂皮質において第2/3層の著明な細胞数低下がみられ,また,錐体細胞のマーカーであるCtip2陽性シグナルが対照群と比べより第5層に限局していた.さらに,ラット初代培養大脳皮質神経細胞へのBADGE(1-100 pM)の2日間曝露により,濃度依存的な神経突起の著明な伸長が認められた.以上の結果より,妊娠・授乳期における高濃度のBADGEへの曝露は,早期の神経分化をもたらす可能性が示唆された.

The history of the development of KODAK T-Grain emulsions was traced over the last 10 years. Four advantages resulting from the use of T-Grain emulsions in color films were delineated: increased minus blue to blue sensitivity ratio, improved speed/granularity ratio, reduced background radiation sensitivity at equal speed/quality ratio and increased sharpness through improved emulsion optics.

The investment of nearly 2 decades of clinical investigation into cardiac cell therapy has yet to change cardiovascular practice. Recent insights into the mechanism of cardiac regeneration help explain these results and provide important context in which we can develop next-generation therapies. Non-contractile cells such as bone marrow or adult heart derivatives neither engraft long-term nor induce new muscle formation. Correspondingly, these cells offer little functional benefit to infarct patients. In contrast, preclinical data indicate that transplantation of bona fide cardiomyocytes derived from pluripotent stem cells induces direct remuscularization. This new myocardium beats synchronously with the host heart and induces substantial contractile benefits in macaque monkeys, suggesting that regeneration of contractile myocardium is required to fully recover function. Through a review of the preclinical and clinical trials of cardiac cell therapy, distinguishing the primary mechanism of benefit as either contractile or non-contractile helps appreciate the barriers to cardiac repair and establishes a rational path to optimizing therapeutic benefit.

骨格筋の肥大・再生は、筋幹細胞(衛星細胞)の活性化に大きく依存している。これまでに代表者は、「運動や筋損傷などの物理刺激を引き金として、細胞外マトリックスから遊離する肝細胞増殖因子(HGF)依存的に衛星細胞が活性化する分子機構」をほぼ解明した。これを更に発展させるため本研究では、活性化の抑制機構を調べた。その結果、過剰なNOラジカルの産生によって遊離HGFがニトロ化されることを見出した。筋の肥大や治癒を妨げている「活性化抑制機構(HGFの不活化)」を更に追究することにより、筋肥大・再生を促進する食肉生産システムの開発に資する他、筋再生医科学・加齢筋医科学・スポーツ科学などに貢献が期待された。

We systematically investigated perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in bilayers comprising ultrathin full-Heusler Co2FeSi (CFS) alloy and MgO as an insulator. The MgO layer was fabricated using two different sputtering techniques: reactive sputtering and radio-frequency sputtering. The characteristics of the layers fabricated using the different methods were compared. Irrespective of the MgO fabrication technique, the CFS/MgO bilayers exhibited PMA when the CFS surface was exposed to oxygen, which resulted in additional Fe–O bonds at the interface. Additionally, we characterized PMA in the bilayers while varying the substrate temperature TS for CFS sputtering. CFS samples that were 0.6-nm thick exhibited PMA when they were formed at TS as high as 300°C. The bilayer formed at 350°C exhibited in-plane magnetic anisotropy. Quantitative analysis of the magnetic anisotropy energy density revealed that the dominant magnetic anisotropy contribution in PMA differed between the bilayers formed at 300°C and 350°C. We expect these findings to be useful in the further development of high spin-polarized ferromagnetic electrodes containing PMA for next-generation spintronics devices.
