Fringe scanning is introduced to the grating, projection system for profiling which has been developed to capture three-dimensional shape of the objective. This revised system can give more dense measuring points and elliminate the influence of the surfacial pattern of the specimen. The final measurement is realized with the error ratio of 0.005 to the covering range. Some discussions are also made on the conventional fringe scanning method using a sinusoidal grating, and a trial with liquid crystal grating, instead of interference fringes, has proved to be applicable to the fringe scanning method.

The use of the electric-mobility-classification method for sizing 0.1 μm mono-disperse particles was examined experimentally. It was suggested in a recent study that, in contradiction to the well-established theory of the electric mobility classification, the experimentally observed particle size depended slightly on the sample aerosol flow rate. In order to investigate this phenomenon, a statistically designed experiment was conducted in which precise setting of the air flow rates was made possible through a newly devised air flow configuration. It was confirmed that the measured particle size did decrease as the sample aerosol flow rate increased. The observed variation in the apparent size was about 0.7%, when the aerosol flow rate was varied from 0.3 L/min to 2 L/min.

This paper introduces a new type of free-form patches named rational boundary C^2 Gregory patch. It can be said an extension of C^2 Gregory patch developed by Miura and Wang, which gives users the capability of designing curvature-continuous surfaces (G^2 continous surfaces) with reasonable flexibilities, and also that of rational boundary Gregory patch proposed by Chiyokura et al., which is surrounded by rational Bezier curves and can be interpolated with the continuity of tangent planes (G^1 continuity). As the name of the patch implies, its boundary consists of rational Bezier curves. Its derivation is explained and methods for G^2 continuity are proposed to connect it with a rational Bezier patch and with another RBC^2G patch. Finally, a G^2 continuous interpolation method based upon such patches is discussed.

一般化ハフ変換を用いた半導体ウエハ識別番号認識装置を開発した本装置は以下の特徴を持つ.<BR>(1) テンプレートテーブルのデータ量を削減するために, 文字パターンの曲線部分に着目して, データ圧縮を行う<BR>(2) マルチプロセノサシステムを用いて, テンプレートテーブルの検索と座標変換計算を並列処理することによって認識時間を短縮する.<BR>(3) 一般化ハフ変換を用いているため, 品位の不良な対象画像であっても高い認識率を得ることができ, また, 文字パターンのわずかな大きさや傾きの変化の影響を受けにくい<BR>(4) 定型フォントであれば, テンプレートテーブルの圧縮率を60%程度としても認識率への影響はほとんど見られない.<BR>(5) 実機へ適用したところ, 認識率98, 6%と認識時間16秒という実用的な結果が得られた.

A new approach to prepare diamond-like carbon film was made by highly accelerating ultra-fine carbon black particles between plane-parallel electrodes held at DC high voltage in 10^<-4> Torr, and by making the energetic particles deposit onto the surfaces of electrodes used as substrate. It became clear that amorphous hard carbon films grow only on cathode surface without heat generation and the growth rate depends on the rate of kinetic-energy flux given by the particles striking unit cathode area. The average growth rate of about 10 nm/min was obtained using a 180 mm dia. cathode with relatively low power supply. As for the properties of film prepared, the Vickers hardness value larger than 1 500 kgf/mm^2 and the semiconductive hopping conduction were observed, which are quite different from carbon black used. These suggest that the graphitic starting material may be transformed into considerably disordered carbon structure due to severe solid-to-solid impact, and a diamond-like carbon film of graphite rich may be formed.

The study deals with 5-axis control machining of workpieces with sculptured surface like impellers. The 5-axis control machining allows complex workpieces to be produced efficiently and accurately. Then, it is of importance to avoid the collision between tool and workpiece due to the arbitrariness of tool attitude. The system developed in the study generates the collision-free tool path for workpieces with sculptured surface, based on the CAD/CAM system employing the solid modeling techniques. As a result, the validity of the system is experimentally confirmed.

The study deals with the general method of generating NC data from collision-free tool path of 5-axis control machining centers. The use of 5-axis control machining centers, capable of machining complicated workpiece shapes efficiently and accurately, is recently increased. Then, it is inevitable to generate collision-free CL data and NC data rapidly. CL data are generated by the main-processor having the collision avoidance procedure between a workpiece and an arbitrary tool shape, based on the solid modeling technique. The post-processor developed in the study can convert CL data to actual NC data, taking account of the structure of machining centers, linearization, feed rate control and spindle rotation control. The main-and post-processors are experimentally found effective.

本研究では, DXFファイルから加工曲面の点群データを得て, それをもとにしてボールエンドミルによる仕上げ加工における干渉検出方法と回避方法とを検討して, 検出時間短縮のために, 投影面の決定と分割サイズとを提案した.さらに, 提案した方法を用いて, 工具位置を算出できるプログラムを開発した.以上の討論と計算結果から以下の結論が得られた.<BR>(1) 回避方向を求めるとき, 干渉部分だけでなく加工曲面全体の特性を考慮して, より適当な回避方向が求められる.<BR>(2) 干渉点の座標値により回避角度が求められるので, 干渉部分は1回だけで回避できる.<BR>(3) XY面, YZ面及びZX面の中から有利な投影面を選択してから, 工具の直径を投影面の領域分割サイズとすると, 計算時間が大幅に短縮できる.<BR>なお, 本研究では, 加工曲面の規則性 (平面, 軸対称曲面など) を考えていないので, 規則曲面の計算時間が無駄になった.今後, 加工曲面の規則性を判断して, それに対応する無干渉工旦位署を生戌するプログラム左作成する予定である.

5-axis control machining has the potentials of producing workpieces with complicated shape efficiently and accurately in comparison with conventional 3-axis control one. NC data for 5-axis control machine tools are in general offered by CAD/CAM systems, which create collision-free CL data from the workpiece and tool shapes. The post-processor plays an important role of providing actual NC data from CL data, taking account of a variety of 5-axis control machine tool structures. The study deals with the proposal of how to construct generalized post-processor, independent of the machine tool structures, by applying a concept of the form shape function, which represents the linkage and kinematics of control axes. As the result, the validity of the proposed generalized post-processor is experimentally confirmed.

This paper proposes an ultrasonic position measurement system for mobile robot moving in wide-area. The system uses ultrasonic receiver net which consists of many ultrasonic receivers with wide beam (100°) allocated at a constant interval on a ceiling. The ultrasonic receiver net covers all area where mobile robot moves. And two ultrasonic transmitters with wide beam (100°) are placed at rear and front of mobile robot to transmit ultrasonic wave toward ceiling alternately. Some receivers of receiver net can receive the ultrasonic wave, so the distances between transmitters and receivers can be obtained. Three optimal distances are selected to estimate the positions of the transmitters, and the posture of the mobile robot is estimated by the positions of the two transmitters. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the estimated position measurement error is φ 62mm and estimated posture error is ±4°. The ultrasonic receiver net can be expanded easily, making possible to measure position of a mobile robot moving in wide-area, especially in bad visible environment.

本稿では高度に情報化された製造産業におけるコンピュータ利用技術のひとつとしての非線形解析の潜在的なニーズを概観するとともに, いわゆるダウソサイジングに伴って身近になったマシン環境で動作する非線形解析ソフトの最新の機i能を, LS-DYNA3Dを例にとりあげて紹介した.今やユーザにとってはコンピュータ選定の選択肢が広がり, 解析規模に応じてコンピュータを使い分けることで業務の大幅なコスト削減が可能になっているといえるだろう.また, このような非線形ソフトを使用する上での留意点を指摘し, さらに, 具体的な解析事例をもとに, 解析に必要な入力データや結果の評価のポイント等を示した.今後このような解析ソフトに求められる点としては, GUIの拡張による使いやすさの改善, 高速かつ高精度な解析アルゴリズムの開発, CADデータとのリソクによる最適化問題への応用といったことが挙げられる.ソフトベンダーとしては, 常にユーザの立場に立って最新の技術惰報を提供し, よりよい製品開発に貢献していきたいと考えている.

This paper describes a three-dimensional model of a human hand considering the softness of fingers and the revolving resistance of finger joints. They are expressed by nonlinear springs that can set limits to their possible displacements. To measure the elastic characteristics of nonlinear springs and the friction coefficients of finger ball skin, three measuring devices are developed. Based on the model with elasticity of fingers and joints, a simulation method is proposed which makes it possible to estimate torques by muscle, torques by elasticity, the distribution of acting forces between fingers and an object, and the stability of a grasped object. An example of the simulation in which a square object is grasped with a thumb and a middle finger is exlpained to evaluate the effectiveness of the simulation method proposed.
