In this research, aiming to get the suggestion about fruitful tourism revival, semi-structured interview survey was conducted. Focusing on the collaboration between tourism-related administrations, tourist association, tourism-related organizations and others, this research examines tourism-based community development of Beppu city which was formerly flourished as a big hot spring destination. As the result, it is revealed that the effectiveness of connection between mass tourism and new tourism is starting to be recognized by some organizations, though the local government does not adopt positive policies heading towards the collaboration. Preparing the place of exchange information between organizations under tourism-based community development as a policy seems important.

本研究では、全国の都市・115 自治体の168 のまち歩きガイド組織を対象とし、アンケート調査およびその結果をもとにした数量化理論Ⅲ類とクラスタ分析を行うことで、若手ガイドが多く活動している組織の特徴とガイド個人の特性と意識を明らかにした。結論として、『若手(50 代以下のガイド)』の参加促進方策のひとつとしては、「『若手』も気軽に参加でき、知識の吸収欲を満たせるような、ガイドの前段階となる装置を用意すること」が提案できたとともに、ガイド活動は、より自地域への愛着を増幅させ、更なる地域活動への参画を促すものにもなりうることがガイド個人へのアンケート結果より推察された。

In Edo Period, a hot spring was still primarily a place of remedy, but started to have a face of pleasure according to popularization of travels. In this study, I tried to clarify the diversification of hot springs by paying attention to the information networks among the people who visited hot springs. It was found that there were various kinds of information about hot springs, and they were made and sent by various media. And such information gave influence on the people's choice of hot springs and their behavior pattern there. The information which people collected at hot springs were orally spread, or recorded in their diaries and some were published, and the information cycle was made from the people visited hot springs to the people visiting hot springs.

The aim of this paper is to examine the cultural influence of the development of infrastructure on tourism in Koyasan, one of the most famous religious and tourist site in Japan. I will discuss two points. Firstly, the development of railways and road networks have increased the number of tourists rapidly and brought the mass-tourism into Koyasan. Secondly, this development, especially construction of road networks and car parks in and around the Koyasan area after 1960's, has changed the flow of tourists and the meanings of the places. With the development of infrastructures, the religious and historical places have been decontextualized and changed into the sightseeing "points".

In Japan, many local people expect regional promotion to use the tourism development executed by the private company. The cooperation of a related subject is indispensable to improve the effect of development. We conduct the case study of TRM (Twin Ring Motegi) development in Motegi town, focusing on the institution that promotes the cooperation. So we take into consideration measures which were conducted by related subjects, namely local people, local enterprise, and local government, to safeguard local environment and to progress local economy. Impacts of the development are presented as structural diagram dividing into social and economic indicators on many kinds of people. They are measured by several kinds of surveys including questionnaire survey for inhabitants, investigation on the management of enterprise and so on. The measures are discussed from the viewpoint of the relation between the impacts and problems that local people recognize.

This article treats at a making process of a set of "the three big festivals in Tohoku (northeast district)" in Japan. Although these festivals (Aomori Nebuta Festival, Akita Kanto Festival and Sendai Tanabata Festival) are unrelated mutually, a newspaper reported an article of "the special summer festivals of Tohoku" in 1956. This report made the distribution of the use of the word of "the three big festivals in Tohoku". The tour plan that looking around three festivals was first made in 1962. The executive committees changed the festivals into the direction to suite for sightseeing. This success not only caused the immediate increase of the visitor, but also activated the cultural tourism in the area.

観梅の時期、名所として知られる水戸・偕楽園の麓にはJR 常磐線の臨時駅が開設され、臨時快速列車「水戸梅まつり号」が運行されるなど、鉄道と関連した観光事業が展開されている。本稿では当時の新聞各紙の記事や広告を検証して、現在まで続く観梅列車の展開過程を具体的に明らかにし、その特性と意義を示した。加えて観梅列車の展開によって、大名が私有する庭園だった偕楽園が、観梅によって鉄道利用の目的地となり、これが定着していくなかで水戸の観光産業の中枢に位置づけられていったことを指摘した。

1992 年から2013 年のドイツの宿泊統計によれば、日本からの旅行者のドイツにおける宿泊者数のピークは、2000 年の約153 万人泊である。ロマンチック街道における日本からの旅行者の宿泊者数も同様に2000 年がピークで、2013 年の数字はそれを下回り、日本からの旅行者の出国状況は停滞している。一方で、中国、オランダ、スイス、ロシアからの旅行者の、ロマンチック街道、特にフュッセン、シュヴァンガウ、ローテンブルク、アウクスブルクにおける宿泊者数は、2004 年から2013 年まで、急激に増加している。しかしながら、日本からの旅行者のロマンチック街道(特にローテンブルク)における宿泊者数は、ドイツ以外の国からの旅行者としては依然として最大で、2013 年には154,418 人泊に達した。この数字は、2013 年の日本からの旅行者のドイツにおける総宿泊数の実に11.8 パーセントを占め、他国と比べてその割合は突出して高い。

German guidebooks about the Romantic Road between 1952 and 1970 were often characterized by nationalistic expressions, for example "Discover our (=German) great past", to promote a trip to the Romantic Road. In comparison, the Japanese travel guidebooks about Germany between 1964 and 1972 used mostly fantastic expressions such as "fairy-tail land" to describe the Romantic Road as an attractive destination. The nationalistic language in German guidebooks is a tourism discourse, which appealed to the collective memories (nationalism) of the readers, whereas the fantastic descriptions in Japanese guidebooks associated memories of heart-warming fairy-tails in order to promote a trip to the Romantic Road.

The purpose of this study is to prove that the demand for tourism and recreation in the natural environmental area around Tokyo metropolis has increased. We analized the fact by using two types of data, the one from the statistics which were taken by the survey on the origin side of Tokyo metropolis and the other from a tourist behavior survey on the destination side which was carryed out by our reseach group originally. As a result, the following trends were found. (1) The user's demands for tourism and recreation in the natural environmental area has increased recently. (2) The rate of old aged people has increased. (3) Families and small groups have increased. (4) The time of staying in the area has become more longer. (5) The hikers in casual wear have incresed.

The purpose of this study is to clarify how luxurious spaces on passenger ships have changed over the years and to determine what the factors that have caused these changes are. Analysis was conducted based on historical records, data, photos, deck plans of ocean liners and modern cruise ships and my own experience on passenger ships. The main findings are as follows; 1) The changes of luxurious spaces on passenger ships can be divided into six periods. 2) The main dining room, entrance hall, and grand staircase were symbols of social strata during the ocean liner era, but those facilities on modern cruise ships do not have the same meaning as symbols of social strata. 3) Luxurious spaces on passenger ships have been influenced by architectural trends and fashions. 4) Luxurious spaces on passenger ships have been influenced by the social and economic trends in the U.S.A., and the changes of social strata caused by the bubble economy influenced changes of construction and the meanings of luxurious spaces on passenger ships. 5) "Top Down" process of changes of the luxurious spaces pass through "Elimination" and "New-Appearance".

The goal of this research was to explore the development of ethnic neighborhood tourism in a Brazilian neighborhood in Oizumi town, Gunma, from a perspective of Japanese residents and to examine ways in which such tourism development influence the ethnic relationship between Japanese and Brazilian residents. The analysis of the data revealed a lack of enthusiasm about the ethnic neighborhood tourism development among Japanese residents and unequal distribution of the benefits from tourism. Overall, the analysis revealed that the tourism development strengthened, rather than mitigate, the ethnic tension of Japanese and Brazilian.

The purpose of this study is to make clear the development and characteristics of spas for day-trippers around Tokyo. Many factors such as the introduction of technology to dig hot spring deeply, the development of highway system, changes of leisure activities to near recreation area, health care intention by an aging society and the hot spring development as a regional promotion by the local government explain the expansion of the spas for day-trippers. As a result, many same types hot spring facilities came out. Therefore, it is important to build unique and different spas for day-trippers by making better use of the natural and social environments and the characteristics of hot spring resources.

The study eines to identify 'the booms of spa resorts' from Meiji to the early Showa era, and to clarify the features, causing factors and changing factors in each booms. Based on newspapers, magagines, historical documents etc. of these periods events relating to the spa resorts are extracted and classified. then the comparative analysis is conducted. Main findings are as follows: 1)'The booms of spa resorts' from Meiji to the early Showa era can be extracted as; (1)the former haif of first boom period (from 10 to 17. Maiji era) (2)the later half of first boom period (from 24 to 31. Meiji era) (3)second boom period (from 2 to 9. Taisho era) 2)The popularlity of spa resorts had changed and taken roots. through the rise and fall of each booms. whose features and factors are clarified. Booms had a tendency to shift from westen spa resorts to eastern resorts. 3)Spa resorts, introduced a variety of booms elements actively and constantly. had a tendency to have developed into popular resorts.

This paper clarifies effects on community organizations and spaces after public art projects in Korea. 31 towns held on public art projects and this paper focuses on 9 towns in Gyeongsagnam-do. Not only art activities but also other activities such as events, culture schools and road improvements are performed, which are different by purposes and main actors. Main actors of 4 towns which aim at tourist development consider that residents' participation is important to be tourism spots. They have established community organizations in order that the residents manage the town. Building community facilities, educating residents, and job offerings are useful to encourage residents' participation

Kyoto is an international tourist city visited by 50 million people every year of tourists. Festival of the Middle Ages, which began in 1895 is up to date. While associated with the era Festival 1100 commemoration of the transmission in the middle of the period of the Heian era, I take into account to see the intention fundamental and (take the function of tourism that was used to "view" the word "sightseeing"). In addition, I tried to analyze changes in tourism that caused the change and the emergence of the Lord while comparing the citizens and organizations related to the management of age festival. Then, for the people in the face of the occurrence of these large design, the author revealed it.

According to the commerce white paper in 2007, the number of medical tourists in Asia reached 1.8million people and the market size extended to 730billion yen as of 2006. Only Thailand accepted 1.45million international patients in 2008. Why medical tourism grows here and has risen suddenly in Asia? In this article, I analyze the background of the sudden rise of the medical tourism in Asia historically, especially in Thailand and add two conditions of the Thailand inimitableness to four conditions of the Diamond model by Michael Porter in order to clarify the factor of the sudden rise . I verify the strength of the medical tourism as the dominant Thai industry and, based on these date, think about the future possibility of the Japanese medical tourism.
