In recent years, a large number of studies have been made on medication and communication of astronomical knowledge. Although there are many studies on the official function of established education system in the context of a decline in the scholastic ability, there are many cultural diversities in the construction of astronomical image. The purpose of this paper is to examine astronomical club of Jissen Women's University as a loose organization. On the basis of a preceding questionnaire, motivation and interest in astronomical culture and image were examined. It implies that astronomical image is constructed by not merely the education system but also by other representation media.

According to a questionnaire survey, around 2% of female students use parasols. They use parasols not only for sunshades but also for the psychological effects of fashion and coolness. The parasols reduce the strength of ultraviolet rays by 75-95%, and lower the head temperature by more than 10℃. In addition, they reduce the dazzle by 83-97% , except for white and yellow parasols. In this investigation, the white and light colors are preferred rather than dark colors as parasols, but it was clarified experimentally that the effects of the sunshade were higher in the dark color parasols.

Japanese confectionery has changed in various ways over a long time. Many different kinds of confections have been made, from simple and familiar ones of daily life to luxury ones. Connected and refined especially with traditional events, certain of these confections have beenpassed down by people who consider their origin important. Among these, some are characterized by using natural leaves of tree. In this study, we examined the historical background and the actual conditions of transmission. As a result, wecount 34 kinds of leaves used in making confectionery. For making Kashiwa-mochi, in some regions, people use smilacaceous leaves instead of oak leaves and they eat Kashiwa-mochi not only for a seasonal festival but also at ordinary times. As annual events, the Boy's festival is well inherited and the custom of eating Kashiwa-mochi remains as well as Chimaki. Sakura-mochi is also popular but Tsubaki-mochi, which has a long history, has become less popular today.

The contents of L-carnitine in various meats were examined. As a result, it was shown that the contents of L-carnitin differed greatly according to the species. The red meat contained more L-carnitine. The low content was observed in egg and milk. It was shown that as the animal grew up the contents of L-carnitin decreased.

Although many ready-made "Yukatas (a kind of Japanese costume Nagagi)" have appeared on the market, there are no official size-system for Yukata". So we surveyed the clothing size and measurements of ready-made "Yukatas" on the market and then studied the validity of their size and measurements through young women's body measurements, and then tried to propose the better size-system for Japanese costume "Nagagi". Materials were market-research data carried out in June to August, 2006, and the body measurements and the cross section data of hips from the 3-D measurements proceeded for 91 female students from 2004 to 2006. We found that the number of clothing size on the market was very small, the clothes were made too long, and the relation among the body measurements was not considered. We also found that the necessity for expanding sizes to width through the scatter diagram of stature and hip girth, and one and half of hip girth was a good indicator for deciding the width of Nagagi. Then we proposed the size-system for Nagagi on the basis of the above results.

Aspergillus oryzae is widely used to produce fermented food such as sake, soy sauce and miso in Japan. Since these fungi have been used for food fermentation for a long time, these economic strains for food fermentation are thought as "domesticated strains." The origin of these strains is thought to be a contaminant from natural environment. We isolated many A. oryzae like strains from field using the autoclaved rice as medium. Isolated strains were confirmed as A. oryzae by the genomic structure of aflatoxin homologous gene cluster. The amount of mycelium in rice koji prepared by isolated strains did not show the significant differences compared with those of commercial strains. The activities of enzymes such as α-amylase, glucoamylase, acid carboxypeptidase, acid protease and neutral protease in rice kojiprepared by isolated eight strains and commercial strains were analyzed. Some of the isolated strains showed the similar enzyme activities to those of the commercial strains. From these results, it is suggested that the present commercial A. oryzae strains originate from A. oryzaeliving in the natural environment.

The system of lifetime employment was a feature of Japanese management style and it was said to be one factor of economic growth. It was a stable employment system that applied only to men. However, it has been difficult to continue the system. The idea that "man works outside the house, and woman in the house" was realistic because many men were under the lifetime employment system. It is not asked here whether the idea of the role of men and women is correct or not. However, when the lifetime employment system collapses, this idea also naturally collapses. Thus, the idea of work-life balance plan has arisen. This paper is to try to consider the possibility of such a plan.

Shaping good habits and manners is one of the most important goals, as well as developmental tasks, in early childhood. Although it has been said that discipline in the home is vital to children's education, Japanese parents, in recent years, are busy with their daily work, and their children's upbringing is left almost entirely to early childhood caregivers and teachers. Consequently, caregivers and teachers have some to take weighty responsibility and to have an important influence upon the children's living. Young children's daily living is most effectively shaped by their "significant others". Therefore, teacher-child relationship quality should be given special consideration.

The present paper discusses characteristics of old age in the life cycle from a psychological perspective and examines successful aging and methods of support. First, validity of the "continuity theory" that explains successful aging from the perspective of personality theory inold age is reviewed. Next, "integration and despair," which are developmental tasks in old age are described from an existential perspective, and complexity of the process of "acceptance of death" is discussed. Furthermore, as typical developmental diseases, depressive disorders are focused on and the importance of psychosocial approach is discussed. Based on the fi ndings from above, it is suggested that practice of clinical developmental support and the community support dynamic system suitable for developmental characteristics in old age, which includes interpersonal relationships and the community are essential for providing support.

Recently rice balls with various stuffing are seen sold in many places like convenience stores and delicatessen. We surveyed bacterial contamination in them mainly mixed with marine food. Research was made on bacterial action after purchase to expiry date, and also on how they react to an added Escherichia coli, in particular when the preserving condition is worse. The level of general bacteria, coliforms and Staphylococcus aureus in rice balls are kept at 10^5CFU/g, but some expired rice balls indicate over 10^7CFU/g. Also, some rice balls showed increased bacteria over 10^7CFU/g, when E.coli is added and it is left at room temperature. Therefore, rice ball products need to be eaten soon after purchase and there is need to be cautious about the temperature of its preservation.

When clothes have been washed, they retain various fragrances. Recently, addition of fragrances to the softeners has been commercialized. Also, fragrance additive agents are being sold separately to meet the consumers' tastes. In the present study, these two kinds of commercialized fragrances were examined in terms of their odor characteristics and time of retention. The measurements were performed with a Shimadzu odor characterization apparatus. The radar charts with 10 poles to characteristic fragrances showed characteristics among the soften fragrances and a similarity for fragrance additive agents. The odor index, which corresponds to the strength of mixed odor as sensed by human sensitivity, was retained over 24 hours at the 25~15 levels.

A survey to investigate environmental behavior difference between the period of programmedblackout (March of 2011)and one month after the finish of the blackout (May of 2011)hasbeen performed. Three respondent groups and three behavior groups are obtained by clusteranalysis of the questionnaire data of environmental behaviors. The positive people forenvironmental behaviors do almost of all listed behaviors, the moderate people do two thirds ofthe behaviors, and the negative people do one third of the behaviors. It has a tendency that thenegative people think public offices have responsibility for environmental conservation, andhave less knowledge of ecorogical information.

In today's society, due to the energy and resource crisis, we are facing industrial constraintsand financial crisis. This situation would be a turning point in the history of human civilizationand social model. When considering the turning point for civilization theory, post-industrial,information socialization, such as the model in terms of network-oriented society has beendiscussed. In order to convert the model relationship between human society and the naturalenvironment, we must criticize the model of networked society structurally.
