Frictional heat is generated on the rubbing surface and various types of thermal localization occur during sliding contact in braking on disk and pad surfaces. Thermoelastic expansion affects the contact pressure distribution due to the frictional heat generation. The surface temperature is sometimes localized, and the thermal behavior causes surface damage. To evaluate this phenomenon, braking tests were conducted and the localized temperature on the disk surface was observed with an infrared camera. The localized temperature was found to correlate with frequency response for contact force variation. To investigate localized temperature on the disk surface, FEM analysis of the braking test was conducted. The FEM analysis method combined with contact analysis and heat transfer/thermal stress analysis was applied. Heat flux distributions were calculated by contact analysis in consideration of the frictional heating introducing the actual contact force and the friction coefficient variation. The disk surface temperature was then evaluated by the coupled heat transfer/thermal stress analysis using the heat flux distributions obtained from the results of contact analysis. The disk surface temperature obtained from FEM analysis almost coincided with that measured during the braking test. Moreover, the new method could greatly reduce the calculation time compared to the method using the contact analysis alone. Therefore, the proposed method is believed to be useful for evaluation of the rubbing surface temperature.

気体と液体の二つの相の領域を考え,気体中で発生した爆風が境界面を通して液体中へ伝ぱする問題を波の干渉を考慮して解析した.解析結果はエクスプローデイング・ワイヤによる実験結果と良く一致し,特に水面上の爆発に対する結果を良く説明できた.また,水中へ透過した圧力波の伝ぱ速度は,水面上で最も強く爆風の影響を受け,ある一定時間後に水の音速まで減衰する.

Armored fighting vehicles with Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP) designed to counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) have attracted special interest recently. This paper describes dynamic response of a shock absorption structure to blast load. Mathematical models have been developed to predict the effects of blast load on seat-passenger systems. A blast test using scale models was performed to evaluate the blast forces acting on the vehicle and the human body. By comparing the results of mathematical models with the results of the blast test, a simple vehicle acceleration model was derived. As a result, mathematical models were improved and come to attain higher accuracy.

This paper deals with seismic isolation system with nonlinear characteristics for vertical ground motion. The vertical seismic isolation system consists of a rhombus shaped link mechanism, a tension coil spring, and a leaf spring. The restoring force of the system is obtained by the sum of the restoring force of the buckling deformation of leaf spring and the restoring force of the rhombus shaped link. The purpose of this paper is to create design guidelines for seismic isolation system. Random waves were input to the experimental model with nonlinear restoring force, and the reduction effect was about 0.1 times. In addition, the validity of the analytical model was confirmed by comparing the experimental results with the calculated results. By setting dimensionless parameters and performing analysis, combinations of parameters with high seismic isolation effect were clarified. When the seismic isolation object was determined, a guideline on how to design it was given to make the seismic isolation design easier.

This paper deals with the radiated noise of strain wave gearing, which is a kind of K-H-V type planetary gears having features of lightweight and high reduction ratio. The vibration of Flex Spline (F/S), which is the element of strain wave gearing and has a thin circular cup, is considered as a main factor of the noise. The magnitude of sound power is expected to become large in proportion to the square of the amplitude of displacement of F/S in the radial direction theoretically. The displacements of 3 kinds of models are calculated using FEM. The vibration of F/S and the sound power are measured using the F/S fixed type experiment apparatus. It is confirmed that the relation between the vibration of F/S and the sound power are agreed well to the theory and the vibration of the F/S causes the radiated noise mainly. Moreover, the radiated noise with changing a rotary speed, a loaded torque and an assembly error are measured and examined. The influence of rotary speed and torque is characterized by dependence of the deformation of F/S. The noise become large with the increase of the assembly error, but the amplitude of displacement is not increased. This is analyzed by a resonance between F/S and experiment apparatus.

本研究は4脚ロボットの不整地動歩行に関するものである。不整地としては, 踏み越え可能な水平な段差, より高い障害物, 斜面を想定し, ステレオビジョンによって地形情報を得て, 歩容生成を行う。まず, 歩行しながら, ロボット前部に取り付けた2個のカメラにより路面を左右方向に渡って観測し, 視差を検出することで路面の相対的な高低の分布を得る。この分布より回避すべきか否かを, また進行可能である場合, 時間変化より平坦な段差か斜面であるかを判断し, 必要な歩容の生成を行った。12自由度のロボットを用いて, 姿勢センサ等の情報による補正を加えてトロット歩容を行った。

現在, 人間の居住環境等における移動手段として2足歩行が着目されているが, 多くの研究では歩行を水平面に限定している。しかしながら, 実用的に使用する場合には, 路面の斜度を把握し, それにあわせて歩容を変更しなければならない。本研究ではステレオビジョンを用いた手法によって斜度を推定し, ロボットの歩容を変更し, 斜度を教示することなく歩行させることに成功した。あわせて他の物体を追尾歩行するための制御について報告する。

This paper describes application of robots balanced on balls for transport. While balancing on the ball is a kind of performance acted by human or animals, it has good characteristic as transportation device in robot system. The robot balanced on a ball could be realized by two sets of inverted pendulum control and omnidirectional driving mechanism of the ball. It could not only stand still, move, and turn but also behave as it was passive by turning off one control gain. Ideas to use the robot for transport are proposed in this paper. A single robot could transport some loads on the top without changing control parameters. Multiple robots could cooperatively carry large objects with human. Brief introduction of the system, control of passive mode, use for transport, and some of experimental results are described.

本研究は水平な段差面のある不整地を, ステレオビジョンで観測して踏破する手法に関するものである。不整地において2脚動歩行を行うためには, 特に着地点の状況の正確な情報を必要とし, それに忘じた歩容の生成が必要である。そこで, 広角と望遠の2系統のビジョンをロボットに装備し, 広角系によって着地可能な位置を検出して足の運びを決定し, 望遠系によって着地位置の高低のより精度の高い計測を行った。これにより, ロボットの障害回避を含む進行方向, 歩幅および足上げ量などを決定し, 歩容生成を行った。

A propeller fan jet with a duct and straightening plates for the purpose of making a high velocity jet at the far away of propeller was experimentally investigated. As a result, following conclusions were obtained. When the duct and the straightening plates are attached to the propeller, the center velocity at the position away from the propeller becomes fast, because the swirl of the jet becomes weak. As the number of plates increases, the center velocity increases. But when the number of plates exceeds a certain value, the center velocity becomes slow. This is similar about the length of the plates. When the plate is tilted, the larger the tilt angle of the plate is, the slower the center speed becomes in the downstream.

The authors proposed a unique type of semiactive damper that utilizes electromagnetic induction of a fluid in previous paper. But it was not enough to act an effect of electromagnetic induction because of a weak magnetic flux density. In this paper Halbach magnetic arrays is used for the damper in order to improve the effect. The damper consists of a cylinder, a piston, a by-pass pipe, tubes, tube couplings, electrodes, and trapezoid rare-earth magnets. A high conductive polymer fluid is filled in the cylinder, the by-pass pipe and the tube. Two electrodes are fixed inside the by-pass pipe, and faced. Eight magnets are set up as an octagonal Halbach array around the by-pass pipe, and each array units are installed in series. The magnetic field of the by-pass pipe is analyzed by FEM, and measured. The maximum magnetic flux density inside the by-pass pipe is about 0.9 T, and larger than the previous type. Resisting force characteristics of the damper acting the Lorenz force are measured when a voltage of the electrodes is applied in cross at the magnetic flux. Finally the effect of the electromagnetic induction is confirmed experimentally.

Fixed points design methods for dynamic vibration absorbers are very well-known in the field of vibration control and commonly applied for practical absorber design. However, they must be understood to be approximation methods from the point of view of their design criterion that the resonance amplitude magnification factor is minimized. In this study, the exact algebraic expressions of optimum tuning and damping parameters for the minimization of the largest resonance amplitude magnification factor of linear dynamic vibration absorbers have been derived for undamped primary systems. The existence of two equal height resonance points is reduced to a multiple root condition of an algebraic equation. The determinant is handled as an equation with respect to the resonance amplitude. It has became very clear that the fixed points theory design by Brock is highly accurate. In particular, it exhibits very small error in the practical mass ratio range, e.g., below unity. Algebraic solutions also exist for the resonance frequencies and the anti-resonance frequency. A numerical extension of the method is introduced in order to investigate the optimization problem for damped primary systems.

This paper proposes an expression for design of optimal dynamic absorbers attached to damped linear systems. The classical expressions were derived from the assumption that the primary system has no damping. There are two optimization criteria in the design of the dynamic absorber : the fixed-points theory and the minimum variance criterion. In the fixed-points theory, the dynamic absorber is optimally tuned and damped with respect to the primary system so that the two resonant amplitudes of the main mass are equal. On the other hand, in the latter criterion the area under the power spectrum density curve of the main mass is adjusted to take the minimum value. The new expression proposed in this paper is based on the fixed-points theory. However, there are no fixed points in the resonance curves of the damped linear systems, so the analytic procedure becomes impossible. Therefore a perturbation method is used to obtain the expression, and the accuracy of the solution is discussed.
