This paper describes improvement for wheel slip and re-adhesion control for electric locomotives with induction motor vector control. Compared with the conventional slip frequency method, the torque response is much improved by the vector control. By referring the re-adhesion process for the traditional rectifier controlled do-motor locomotives, suitable torque reduction to an induction motor is applied in accordance with the wheel slip speed. The test results by the series EH500 locomotive for Japan Freight Railway Company, show much improvement for the re-adhesion process especially when a steeper torque reduction ratio is applied.

Auto-transformer feeding system is standard equipment for power supply to high-speed trains on the AC electrified Shinkansen lines in Japan.Feeder side voltage of feeding transformer is 60kV on Shinkansen lines, and power supply to vehicle by an auto-transformer is stepped down from 60kV to 30kV. In the present autotransformer feeding system in which the feeder side of the feeding transformer is not grounded, the insulation level on the feeder side of the substation is set at class 60.For the purpose of economy on the substation power system, it is effective to adopt a three-winding transformer which makes the insulation level on the feeder side equal to 1/2 of the present value. Therefore, authors propose a new three-winding transformer connection that permits neutral direct grounding for the substation receiving extra-high voltage.This paper describes a theoretical study and results of a test on a mini-model of the proposed new type transformer connection. According to the result of examination, impedance characteristics of the transformer satisfy the terms of insulation level reduction. There are good prospects that the new type transformer can be introduced in practical use.

Photovoltaic (PV) and Wind Turbine (WT) generation systems are expected to offer solutions to reduce green house gases and become more widely used in the future. However, the chief technical drawback of using these kinds of weather-dependent generators is the difficulty of forecasting their output, which can have negative impacts on commercial grids if a large number of them are introduced. Thus, this problem may hinder the wider application of PV and WT generation systems. The Regional Power Grid with Renewable Energy Resources Project was launched to seek a solution to this problem.<br>The scope of the project is to develop, operate, and evaluate a Dispersed Renewable Energy Supply System with the ability to adapt the total energy output in response to changes in weather and demand. Such a system would reduce the impact that PV and WT generation systems have on commercial grids and allow the interconnection of more Dispersed Energy Resources (DER). In other words, the main objective of this project is to demonstrate an integrated energy management system, or a type of microgrid [1], as a new way of introducing DERs. The system has been in operation since October 2005 and will continue operation until March 2008. Through the project period, the data on power quality, system efficiency, operation cost, and environmental burden will be gathered and a cost-benefit analysis of the system will be undertaken.<br>In this paper, firstly we introduce the concept of microgrid for reducing negative impact of natural energy, and secondly illustrate the structure of electric and thermal supply control system for Microgrid, especially for the Hachinohe demonstration project. The control system consists of four stages; weekly operation planning, economic dispatching control, tie-line control and local frequency control. And finally demonstration results and evaluation results are shown.

This paper proposes analysis a dead-time error voltage compensation method with a disturbance observer for vector control, and analyses the proposed method. The dead-time compensation is very important to improve performances in the low speed region. The proposed compensation method is composed in the d-q rotational frame with the disturbance observer. As a result, a disturbance transmission characteristic becomes same as a high-pass filter. Then a stability of the proposed controller is hardly affected by controller parameters. In this paper, the validity of analysis is confirmed by experimental results under some conditions. The experimental results are similar to analyzed characteristics and indicate a validity of the analysis results.

In this paper, construction logic of a man/machine safety work system is presented. Especially in a system where the human and machine cooperatively work on the time axis, safety assurance requires the human and machine to maintain different positions or states. A control of this positional relationship or state change is defined as block section control. In Chapter 3, the safety of the platform door system composed of train doors and platform doors is discussed. These systems are characteristic in that it has two or more safe areas and that its hazardous area change to safety area. The concept of the man/machine safety work system is applied to the station platform door system, and the conditions for assuring the safety of the control the station platform door system are derived.

本論文は、昨年七月號本誌記載の「高壓送電線の充電と發電機の自己勵磁現象に就て」に關して筆者が九月電氣學會東京支部講演會の席上で、豫稿に掲載してある以外に、述べたるものに、補足追加したものである。高壓長距離送電線に就て、無負荷充電の際は往々恐る可き、發電機の自己勵磁現象を起して、送電系統を脅すことがあるが、無接地式送電系統に就て、送電線を一線接地すれば、送電線の容量は、發電機に對しては、不平衡容量となり、平常状態よりも尚恐る可き自己勵磁を惹起し易い。本論文には欺るゝ場合の正確なる圖式的解法を與へた。先づ一般に不平衡容量負荷の解法に對して.所謂重疊の理論を應用すれば便利なるを示し、之に依つて不平衡の場合の充電特性曲線、發電子零力率不平衡進電流によつて勵磁せらるゝ飽和特性曲線の正確なる求め方を示した。送電線の一線接地の際も重疊の理論を應用しつゝ、上記兩特性曲線を用ひて、發電機が自己勵磁を起す際の異常電壓、電流の求め方を記し、併せて電壓電流のヴエクトル圖も示した。期の如き自己勵磁現象の實例として、筆者は京濱電力株式會社龍島發電所の遞信省試驗の自己勵磁に就いて數字例を示した。ピーターゼンコイルにて中性點を接地することは、發電機の自己勵磁による異常電壓防止の點より論ずるも極めて、有效である事にも論及して居る。

Increasing vehicular traffic are causing traffic jam and social economic loss in recent years. Dynamic traffic management systems based on actual traffic conditions are expected to reduce these problems. Computer simulation is a powerful tool to evaluate the system performance of new traffic management system, since it is difficult to evaluate it under various traffic conditions in the real world due to huge costs and safety concerns.<br>In this paper, we propose a new microscopic traffic simulation model by object-oriented programming style. In this model, the street network is composed of nodes and links and vehicles run autonomously in the street network. The autonomous vehicle movement model is composed of decision model that depends on the driver's character and vehicle motion model that depends on the attribution of the vehicle. Then, we analyze the quality of our proposed model and show the effectiveness for evaluating the performance of the traffic management systems.

In recent years, many universities have already launched small satellite on-orbit. Attitude information is important for satellite operation. However, many nano-satellite communication systems used amateur radio by narrow bandwidth frequency segment. Therefore, down-link of attitude information is expected to require substantial time. In this paper, we propose establishment of the attitude estimation method by means of the received radio power. And, satellite attitude information being estimated from the fluctuation of the received power. Then, comparison of satellite data obtained from on-board sensors with ground experiment. One major problem in this approach is the effect of Earth's ionosphere. As the radio signal passes through the ionosphere, the polarization angle is rotated by the Faraday Effect. The detection of attitude by the radiation pattern has been assumed that inaccurate. However, we are get data the spin satellite of liner polarization antenna. As a result, we can estimate 0.12rad/s accuracy of angular velocity measurement. This method can be applied to the attitude detection of many small satellites.

This article describes innovations in tourism information systems and their changing after the Internet technologies have appeared. Airline companies in United States started to provide computer reservation system to be made air ticket reservation and to be confirmed their seats in the aircraft. These systems were provided to travel agency to help their business. After around 2000, as the Internet develops, the tourism information systems have been becoming an increasingly development for B2C. Recent research contributions are including innovative user support; user preferences on the web can be analyzed by data mining technology; and the system make a travel plan based on users' preferences.

East Japan Railway Company (JR, EAST) has developed the new type of electronic interlocking device which was applied the general-purpose information technology, and portable radio terminal which was added fail safe function. These new developments contribute to success of the modernization of the railway company and securing the safety fully. This paper informs these fail-safe methods of first practical using in Japan.The new type of electronic interlocking device and portable radio terminal have already installed for many stations, and these effects are not able to be said in a word fully. The new railway signaling technology which is based on the general-purpose information has come to new stage to apply the new railway signaling system. Accordingly this paper informs the significance of applying for the such field and possibility in the future.

Recently, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has become apparent. Research has been performed on surgical robots needed in MIS. In the case of MIS, it is effective to express environmental impedance as numerical data in order to preserve it for establishing standard reference values of the conditions of internal organs. In this paper, we propose a novel method for the estimation of stiffness in real environments in which bilaterally controlled robots are needed. By using the proposed method, environmental stiffness can be estimated dynamically regardless of the initial position of slave system. The viability of the proposed method is confirmed from the experimental results.
