Objectives: We aimed to determine the effects of age, period, and birth cohort on cervical cancer mortality rate trends in Japanese women, by age-period-cohort (APC) analysis. Additionally, we analyzed projected mortality rates. Methods: We obtained data on the number of cervical cancer deaths in Japanese women from 1975–2011 from the national vital statistics and census population data. A cohort table of mortality rate data was analyzed on the basis of a Bayesian APC model. We also projected the mortality rates for the 2012–2031 period. Results: The period effect was relatively limited, compared with the age and cohort effects. The age effect increased suddenly from 25–29 to 45–49 years of age and gently increased thereafter. An analysis of the cohort effect on mortality rate trends revealed a steep decreasing slope for birth cohorts born from 1908–1940 and a subsequent sudden increase after 1945. The mortality rate projections indicated increasing trends from 40 to 74 years of age until the year 2031. Conclusions: The age effect increased from 25–29 years of age. This could be attributable to the high human papilloma virus (HPV) infection risk and the low cervical cancer screening rate. The cohort effect changed from decreasing to increasing after the early 1940s. This might be attributable to the spread of cervical cancer screening and treatment before 1940 and the high HPV infection risk and reduced cervical cancer screening rate after 1945. The projected mortality rate indicated an increasing trend until the year 2031.

Coffee administration has been shown to increase maximum voluntary contraction and muscular endurance. However, no study has addressed the association between daily consumption of coffee with muscular function. This cross sectional study aimed to investigate the association between frequency of coffee consumption (CC) in daily life and muscle strength among a population of working adult men. This cross sectional study included men (n = 516, mean age: 47.1) who participated in an annual health examination conducted in Sendai. The monthly frequency of coffee consumed was reported by a brief-type self-administered dietary history questionnaire. Leg extension power (LEP) was measured as an index of muscle strength. Subjects were divided into tertile levels according to CC. Analysis of covariance was used to examine the relation between the tertile levels of CC and LEP. After adjustment for potential confounders (including all lifestyle factors), the adjusted means (95% confidence interval) of LEP across the tertiles of CC were 17.4 (16.6 - 18.1) for the lowest tertile, 17.9 (17.4 - 18.5) for the mid tertile, and 18.9 (18.3 - 19.5) for the highest tertile (p for trend = 0.007). Higher frequency of monthly coffee consumption was associated with higher muscle strength.

磁場によるβ線の偏向角からβ粒子のエネルギーを測定する実験装置を製作し,^<90>Sr,^<90>Yからのβ粒子の平均的エネルギーと最大エネルギーとを求めた.教育実験用として空気中で行うので散乱の影響が大きいが,電磁石の使用により,β粒子の運動量分布の形もより明確になった.物理教育研究室の卒業研究として学生が手作りした装置であるが,大学初年級の相対論力学の導入の授業に使用できる.

Hot and cold fluids are mixed at the core outlet of sodium cooled fast reactors. The temperature fluctuation causes high cycle thermal fatigue in structural components. The temperature fluctuation at the core outlet region has not a sinusoidal waveform but an irregular spike waveform. In the study, the evaluation method for the high cycle thermal fatigue was investigated against the spike waveform of temperature fluctuation. It was found that the combinational method between the peak-to-peak value of temperature fluctuation and the frequency response function of structure could evaluate the fatigue damage in structure.

跳合検出における端末の割り当て方は大きな課題となっている.仕様上,同じ状態であっても,端末の割り当て方によって競合が起きたり起きなかったりする.そのため,競合検出において,いかに有効な端末割り当てを行うかが重要となる.本論文では,端末の割り当てに関して,端末の組み合わせ数に関する問題と端末が属するサービスの決定に関する問題の2つについて述べる.前者においては,競合の発生に関係しない端末の組み合わせの縮退法と実際にあり得ない状態の組み合わせを持つ端末割り当ての削除法を提案する.また,後者においては,割り当てられた端末の属するサービスを決定する方法を示す.更に,提案手法にある複合サービスを適用した結果より,計算量を約2000分の1に押さえられることを示した.
