In this paper, the relation between the longitudinal acceleration and the changes in attitude were studied. to define the criteria of riding quality of standing passengers on railway vehicle. In the front report, we reported that longitudinal acceleration, pressure distribution on the sole and move distance of body were measured in the field running tests. In this report, analyzed data about the field running test are shown. And, it is cleared that the center of gravity of the load which depends on the sole are good criteria for changes in attitude of the standing passengers by the data obtained by the stationary ramp equipment.

The algorithm for on-line flight path optimization for emergency landing of aircraft and its flight experiment are discussed in this paper. On-line optimal flight path generation problem is transformed into the state-space search problem and the Tabu Search method with Random Moves is combined to optimize each segment of the state-space search in real-time. We checked the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in flight simulation, then the plan for the flight experiment scheduled in this October is illustrated. The generated flight path is shown to a pilot in "Tunnel-in-the-Sky" Display, and indicates guidance for emergency landing to the pilot.

This paper describes a part of incident situation of driver especially on vehicle sideslip situation. Nowadays, many researches aiming to develop the driving assistance system for decreasing traffic accidents are being conducted, but the best way to deal with this problem is to study about the main source of the accidents, that is driver. This research focuses on the driving behavior while doing double lane change and when the road friction is reduced suddenly by using driving simulator, which can be recorded to analyze the pattern of incident so that if the behavior that driver is going to do can be analyzed, the event that will be occurred can be predicted. Data are collected and used to find out the causes of incidents and the factors informing about the car spinning out of the course. In future, all of data will be used to synthesize the assistance system for assisting driver before accident happens.

Electric Vehicles (EVs) have been introduced into the car market but its application has been limited to town use owing to mainly poor battery performance. Superior battery storage energy and power density are required for present systems to be considered for wider range of use. Compared with the well used EV/HEV battery Nickel Metal Hydride and others Lithium-ion battery has superior performance but is only widely used in electrical devices. Lithium-ion battery technology is rarely used in EV/HEVs because of the severe environment of the vehicles. This paper will show the improvements made to overcome this hurdle and present the public road test results of EV propulsion applications of this technology.

Since the establishment of the Shinkansen Speed-up Project in 2002, JR East has been developing various technologies seeking for world top level Shinkansen not only in operating speed but also in safety, environmental friendliness and riding quality. In this project, JR East has developed two high speed experimental train sets, Fastech360S and Fastech360Z. The technological target of Fastech360 is to realize 360km/h commercial operation. After a 2-year test running of them, JR East decided to increase the maximum operation speed of Tohoku Shinkansen from 275km/h to 320km/h. This paper describes the overview of the R&D project and the developed technologies, and the subjects to be solved for further speedup for the future as well.

We report on the results from a survey which aimed to perceive the state of achievement of one - man operation implementation by railway operators. We conducted a questionnaire survey on railway operators carrying out one-man operation. At the questionnaire survey, we investigated things concerning operation handling, response to abnormalities, reasons for setting up various facilities, etc. We calculated the rate of the installation of facilities and the conduction of various kind of operation handling considered to be related to one-man operation, and extracted facilities with a high installation rate at the time of one-man operation. In addition, through hearing surveys, we confirmed that there are differences in the safety confirmation method at door closing and departure, according to the situation of each railway operator, such as transport volume and length of train.

In this paper, the influence of electric cabin heat device for Hybrid Vehicle engine warming and fuel consumption is investigated. The electric cabin heat device is installed in order to compensate a lack of cabin heat by heater core that supplies engine exhaust heat accumulated in coolant. Distribution ratio of heat from electric device and heater core can controls balance of coolant temperature and SOC that influences warm up time and fuel consumption. In order to verify, this effect, simulation is performed. As a result, warm up time is shortened when initial SOC margin for upper limit is small.

In movable bodies, such as vehicles, grounding cannot be taken outside during movement. For the reason, it was difficult to carry out short-distance communication using the car itself, or to detect electric field change which occurs between a road surface and a car. In this research, by making them act geometrically using two or more electrodes, a possibility that virtual standard potential would be generable on a movable body was found out, the standard potential device named the "smart reference" was made as an experiment, and the principle check was carried out.

The purpose of this study is to grasp the outline of Driving Pleasure and to estimate Driving Pleasure by analysis of driver behaviorespecially for the pleasure to the controllability of a vehicle. At first, the experiment to measure the mental condition of a subject is carried out by using a domestic car. The subject answered subjective rating at the time with feeling for pleasure or displeasure. We examination driver's objective course and we found out some possiblilities about driver's decision method for objective course.

We have been developing a gauge change train systems for through-operation between Shinkansen lines and conventional lines. The 1^<st> Gauge Changing Train Set (GCT) was completed in 1998 to confirm the basic efficiency of the systems. The GCT was an experimental 3-motor-car electric multiple unit (EMU) train. It was designed to run at a maximum speed of 300km/h on Shinkansen lines, and 130km/h on conventional lines. It works under a catenary voltage of AC25kV, 20kV and DC1500V. It had been tested for basic and endurance performance at high speed. We are now designing the 2^<nd> GCT for developing new gauge-changing bogies. It will be completed and started to test in late 2006.

Recently, the designed railway vehicles are expanding in Japan. Odakyu Electric Railway Company has 6 kinds of vehicles "Romancecar"; each of them has different design. Showing the effect of quality designed vehicles for passengers contributes to vehicle development. This study aims to develop the Train-Choice-Model what is able to estimates the effect. This model built by utility function that has some variables of design. The 930 sample data were collected by questionnaire for passengers. A flight controller based on Simple Adaptive Control (SAC) method was implemented to Multi-Purpose Aviation Laboratory MuPAL-α developed by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) to demonstrate the effectiveness of SAC flight controller in the serious fault case where the longitudinal stability was suddenly reduced in the air. A parallel feed-forward compensator was added to make the whole system meet the ASPR (Almost Strictly Positive Real) condition that is necessary for the plant to be stabilized by the SAC controller. In order to represent the fault case in a real flight test, a "pseudo-fault term" was added to the original controller equipped with MuPAL-α. Through numerical simulations, hardware in the loop tests and flight experiments, it was revealed that the SAC could stabilize the aircraft with such a fatal fault while a conventional PID control system could not stabilize the plane.

In the normal operation of the scheduled flights, airline pilots maintain the level of the flight safety, economic fuel saving expenditure, punctual flight operation and passenger comfort. In this paper, we use the term "Flight Management Skill" as an operation skill with considering the above-mentioned factors. For the research of the Flight Management Skill, the high experimental cost and the availability of the full-flight simulator are the difficulty of the research. For the purpose of performing the Flight Management Skill research easily, we have developed PC tool, which displays a simplified flight situation and records the operation history. The PC tool does not reproduce all the components of the actual flight; we have to extract the significant items which affect the decision-making process of the actual flight. In the previous report, we have conducted experiments under the condition of Haneda airport runway closure due to earthquake. In the questionnaire, we have found comments claiming that, for the information of Haneda airport being re-opened was not automatically reported, the examinee decided to divert to other Airport without knowing the information. In this research, the PC tool has been modified so that the re-opening information of the destination airport is automatically reported. The experimental results demonstrate essentially the same results as the full flight simulator in the viewpoint of the difference between inexperienced and experienced pilots.

This paper presents an on-line navigation and adaptive flight control for waypoint tracking and course tracking of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) using neural network (NN). The UAV learns to fly above the designated points and course. This system consists of a navigation guidance part for making rolling angle command from the relative position of the aircraft and the target or the course, and the Feedback Error Learning (FEL) part for rolling angle control. For waypoint tracking, the rotation rate of the line of sight is needed, and for course tracking, the relative position of the aircraft is needed. FEL is a learning scheme of NN proposed by Kawato et al. The NN controller is included in a conventional feedback (CFB) controller. By minimizing CFB signals through a learning process in FEL, the NN obtains inverse feedforward dynamics of a nonlinear plant, in this case the aileron-rolling angle system. A numerical simulation using this method is performed to show the effectiveness of the method. It is considered that this system is appropriate for small UAVs whose computer resources and measurement hardware are restricted.

A neural network modeling approach has been developed to analyze human pilots' landing control at visual approach by utilizing the recorded time history of visual cues and pilot control. In real flight analysis, we develop the new method to obtain the necessary data by analyzing recorded video data. In this research, the accuracy of the obtained data is confirmed by comparing the video data with GPS/INS data. Moreover, several real flight experiments with various flight conditions are carried out and the characteristic of each pilot control method for each flight condition is revealed by contribution ratios analysis and sensitivity analysis.
