In previous studies of human information processing, the visual separate system and the auditory separate system have been frequently studied. However, human related characteristic between visual and auditory systems has not been investigated substantially. If the mechanisms of human visual and auditory parallel information processing are elucidated, the finding will contribute to improving technical systems. In our previous studies, human related characteristic between visual search and speech perception is studied. The results showed the mutual effect between visual information processing and auditory information processing in the visual and the auditory parallel information processing. However, to clarify the cause of many car accidents lies in the use of car-phone on driving, it is necessary to use the same kind of visual and auditory stimuli in psychological experiments. In this paper, characteristic of reaction time in parallel information processing of human visual and auditory system is measured by using the same kind of stimuli. The experimental results show the factors that influence the visual and the auditory reaction time are the difficulty of the visual and the auditory stimuli and the timing of the visual and the auditory inputs. The experimental results also suggest that one of the causes of car accidents (to use car-phone while driving) is that the human visual information processing is affected by the auditory information.

This paper provides a game theoretical framework to analyze speech acts in rules-based communication places such as Parliamentary debates and Bibliobattle. The game consists of two stages:(1) the first stage of deliberation, and (2) the second stage of resolution. In the first stage, players discuss a common topic from various viewpoints, and in the second stage all the participants decide which opinion is plausible following a social choice rule as voting. The theory to examine the game involves dynamic epistemic logic (so-called dynamic game logic), and then enables us to focus on players' epistemic states through speech acts. Furthermore, it is connected to a part of mechanism design in the second stage, and secures players' incentives compatibility in social decisions. As a result, it captures how the rules work and what kind of speeches in speech places are derived through players' strategic thinking with rationality.

This paper deals with assigning N operations on parallel H machines. The earliest start time, the latest finish time and the processing time are defined for each operation. The problem is to minimize the deviation of each processing time from the desirable time interval. We propose two autonomous decentralized scheduling algorithms to solve this problem. In these algorithms, an operation is transferred from one machine to another machine on the basis of information exchanges and cooperation among subsystems. By examining numerical results, a comparison is made between two algorithms from the viewpoints of accuracy and computation time. Consequently, abetter algorithm is found to be the one based on negotiations of one subsystem with the others.

This paper constructs a control system in which one highly mobile agent navigates autonomous multiple agents escaping from the agent according to nonlinear interaction. This study is motivated by the sheepdog system: a flock of thousands of sheep are controlled by only a few sheepdogs. Inspired by the sheepdog system, we have proposed a control law of a sheepdog to solve the problem of one sheep converging on a circular trajectory around a goal by one sheepdog, which is called the mobile control. In this paper, we extend this controller to applicable to a flock of sheep by treating multiple sheep as “a disc with a certain flock radius”. This paper deals with the problem of navigating a flock of sheep to converge their centers of gravity on a circular trajectory around a goal position. For this problem, we propose a flock model of sheep and an extended mobile control designed by considering the suitable distance between a sheepdog and a center of the flock. Finally, we verified the validity of the proposed method through numerical simulation and robot demonstrations.

This paper proposes an error estimation of a numerical method for solving Hamilton-Jacobi equations of nonlinear optimal control problems, called stable manifold method. Then, a rapid numerical algorithm is derived from the estimation. In the algorithm, the convergent sequence with respect to solutions on stable manifolds that are equivalent to the pair of optimal feedback gains and trajectories is improved. The new algorithm has three advantages, rapid calculation, extended radius of convergence and low memory consumption.

In this paper, we propose a spacial music score. Although many number of studies have been made on multimedia technology in the musical field over the past few decades, there is little attention to notation. The purpose of this paper is to construct more flexible and easily understandable visual music score for the music which is needed to be complicatedly controlled. The prototype system is developed for evalution, and it is confirmed that the user can make music easily by using the system.
