This paper proposes a novel torque controller in a direct torque control (DTC) system for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM). A reference flux vector calculation (RFVC) DTC uses a PI controller for torque control and can be applied with a PWM voltage-fed inverter. The RFVC DTC's controller can be designed using classical control theory with a linear transfer function by analyzing the relationship between the torque, torque angle, rotor speed, and angular frequency of the stator flux-linkage vector. In contrast, the conventional equivalent modeling method is only applicable with high control gain. At a lower control gain, the convergence performance degrades in the conventional model. Therefore, the torque control characteristics are improved by the proposed system, which is based on the decoupling rotor speed in the torque control system. Simulation and experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed system.

Threat modeling is a process to determine effective cybersecurity measures to secure industrial control systems (ICSs). However, deep cybersecurity knowledge is required to perform threat modeling processes and those results including prioritization of cyber attack scenarios are depended on security analysts. To reduce the dependency of analysts, it is required to express cyber attack scenarios with a structured model. In this study, a new structured model that expresses cyber attack scenarios for ICSs is proposed. The proposed model is based on the Diamond model and capable of expression behaviors of adversary in a targeted system by a structured form. The model makes it possible to express structured cyber attack scenarios and reduce dependency of analysts. This paper provides a detail of the proposed model and evaluation results of the model in terms of the usefulness of threat modeling.

In 2017, it became mandatory for universities in Japan to disclose their policies in degree granting (Diploma Policy: DP, hereafter) that state standards to confer degrees. Meanwhile, since 1991, nomenclature of major fields that appear in diplomas has been the responsibility of individual universities, instead of the national regulation. This study examines whether the former reasonably evokes the latter, given that both of them are deemed to represent the learning outcomes that the graduate has obtained. In order to do so, we compared the ability of humans and that of a deep-learning system (which is based on the Character-level CNN), to match DPs and major fields that are randomly given. In the examination of human ability, which was implemented with a large enough number of participants to obtain statistically significant results, we found there were a certain number of DPs that the majority of people failed to match with major fields. Given this fact, we analyzed such DPs to demonstrate that the deep learning system shows a high success rate in sorting out the DPs that poorly evoke major fields.

For the sustainable society, organization management not based on the mass production and mass consumption but having the flexibility to meet to various social needs precisely is required. For realizing such management, the emploees' work morale is required. Recently, however, the emploees' work morale is tend to decrease. Therefore, in this study, the authors developed the model of the method for promoting and keeping employees' work morale effectively and efficiently. Especially the authors thought “work morale” of “attitude to the work”. Based on this idea, it could be considered that the theory of the persuasion psychology and various persuasion techniques. Therefore, the model of the method applying the character agent was developed based on the forced compliance which is one of persuasion techniques based on the theory of the cognitive dissonance. By the evaluation experiment using human subjects, it was confirmed that developed method could improve workers' work morle effectively.

In recent years, a number of algorithms for controlling parameters of an acoustic signal have been realized according as hardware technologies have been developed. A phase vocoder is one of the widely known methods for time scale modification (TSM) and pitch scale modification (PSM). The phase vocoder converts the length and the pitch of the acoustic signal by increasing or decreasing an instantaneous angular frequency. However, due to the phase unwrapping problem that occurs when the instantaneous angular frequency is estimated, the phase vocoder distorts the waveform of the modified signal. In order to alleviate this problem, we present a new algorithm for the phase vocoder. Our method does not encounter the phase unwrapping problem since we directly use the difference of phases between adjacent analysis frames to avoid estimating the instantaneous angular frequency. Moreover, our approach is effective even when the characteristics of the acoustic signal, e.g., a frequency and amplitude, change rapidly.

The 76GHz millimeter wave radar has been developed for automotive application such as ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) and CWS (Collision Warning System). The radar is FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) monopulse type. The radar transmits 2 frequencies in time-duplex manner, and measures distance and relative speed of targets. The monopulse feature detects the azimuth angle of targets without a scanning mechanism. Conventionally a radar unit is aimed mechanically, although self-aiming capability, to detect and correct the aiming angle error automatically, has been required. The new algorithm, which estimates the aiming angle error and vehicle speed sensor error simultaneously, has been proposed and tested. The algorithm is based on the relationship of relative speed and azimuth angle of stationary objects, and the least squares method is used for calculation. The algorithm is applied to measured data of the millimeter wave radar, resulting in aiming angle estimation error of less than 0.6 degree.

The purpose of this study is to develop power circuits for AC electric trains with weight reduction and downsizing. We devised a new power circuit configuration which uses SiC modules for insulation function instead of the main transformers, manufactured the circuit models on an experimental basis, and executed the verification. The results verified the bidirectional operation, demonstrating that about a 5.7kW of power was transmitted for the input voltage of up to 200V and the switching frequency of 20kHz run, while ensuring the insulation state without any simultaneous conduction between the primary and secondary terminals through the flying capacitor.
