Today, we must develop alternative energies. However, Japan does not have enough land to build large power plant. Therefore we studied about small-sized wind power generation for the purpose of developing a windmill which is suitable for the wind condition of its installed location.

In recent yeas, various transportation systems have been asked to reduce the energy consumption and so the railway systems are without exception. So far, because the calculation of energy consumption and optimization of the railway systems is so difficult, it is hesitate to consider the effective utilization of the regenerative powers. In this paper, we propose a new simple scheduling method for railway systems that positively utilize the regenerative powers. The main idea is use the areas of the overlap between one train's driving partial and another train's braking partial in a diagram to estimate the regenerative powers. Based on the estimated regenerative powers, we can evaluate some important travel parameters in train traffic scheduling and make up an appropriate train traffic diagram. The simulation results show the proposed method is useful.

This paper proposes a multiport converter based on a flying capacitor converter topology for use in a battery management system. The proposed circuit operates in discontinuous current mode and pulse frequency modulation in order to reduce inductor volume. The circuit achieves load fluctuation compensation and maximum power point tracking of the photovoltaic (PV) system by deciding duty ratio based on load current and PV output current. According to the experimental results, an efficiency of more than 95.8% was achieved under all operation conditions. In addition, the maximum efficiency reached 98.8% at the rated load (750W). Furthermore, the inductor volume reduced by 85.5% compared to that of the conventional circuit using two inductors.

The grid connection inverter is built in the PCS (Power Conditioning Subsystem) for the distributed power supply, such as photo voltaic system. In order to utilize the power source, it is necessary that the grid connection inverter of the PCS predicts the load and output fluctuation in customer side. Therefore, this paper investigates a load estimation in the grid connection inverter of the PCS. The proposed estimation method adds superimposing perturbative signals in the inverter reference. The validity of the proposed estimation method is experimentally verified. In addition, the perturbative signals for load estimation consist of three different frequency components. As the result, it is experimentally clarified the proposed method improves the estimation accuracy.

This paper proposes a low vibration stopping method by switching between the free-run and short-circuit braking modes of a compressor. Vibrations are generated by the bouncing of the rotor caused by load torque fluctuations. The proposed method suppresses the bouncing by stopping the motor during the suction process, thereby preventing the generation of a large torque. In order to stop the motor during the suction process, the proposed method switches from the free-run to short-circuit braking mode at the top dead center, which is the starting point of the suction process. Furthermore, the inrush current during the short-circuit braking mode is suppressed using a hysteresis current controller. The vibrations are evaluated under four pressure conditions using the conventional and proposed methods. The results show that, the proposed method achieves more than 50% reduction in the amplitudes of the vibrations at all four pressure conditions. Notably, the proposed method reduces the amplitude of the vibration by 71% under the high-pressure condition.

Emerging broadband networks and high performance of PCs provide new business opportunities of the live video streaming services for the Internet users in sport events or in music concerts. Digital watermarking for video helps to protect the copyright of the video content and the real-time processing is an essential requirement. For the small start of new business, it should be achieved by flexible software without special equipments. This paper describes a novel real-time watermarking system implemented on a commodity PC. We propose the system architecture and methods to shorten watermarking time by reusing the estimated watermark imperceptibility among neighboring frames. A prototype system enables real time processing in a series of capturing NTSC signals, watermarking the video, encoding it to MPEG4 in QGVA, 1Mbps, 30fps style and storing the video for 12 hours in maximum

In this paper, a method is proposed to education of starting characteristics and stationary characteristics of three phase induction motors based on a direct numerical analysis. At first, a mathematical model is presented to three phase induction motors. Secondly, program codes in C language are shown to simulation studies with results obtained by the program codes. Finally, the results obtained in this paper are shown to the effectiveness of the proposed method to education of starting characteristics and stationary characteristics of various three phase induction motors.
