An extended-gate field effect transistor (EGFET) based creatinine sensor using an enzyme-containing silk-fibroin membrane successfully fabricated. In this experiment, we used creatinine deiminase as a detection enzyme for serum creatinine, which is known as a marker of chronic kidney disease. The fabricated biosensor showed excellent potentiometric response to creatinine over a wide range from 0.007 - 0.4 mg/mL in phosphate buffer solution, which can enable to measure creatinine concentration in blood plasma.

A newly found phenomenon, in which the electric resistivity in a highly purified water gradually decreases through hours and days after application of a milli-gauss ac magnetic field in a short time, its mechanism model, and its wide application for various positive biological effects are summarized. A theoretical model for the mechanism based on the cyclotron resonance with the frequency f=qBdc/2πm for each hydro-molecular cluster with the proton charge q and the cluster mass m of H3O+(H2O)n under the terrestrial field Bdc well explains the gradual decreasing ratio of the resistivity for each cyclotron frequency forming a long range order proton transport path. The high temperature stability of a magnetized water resistivity may reflect the homeostasis. The phagocytic activity of neutrophils is remarkably elevated in a magnetized phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) solution. The milli-gauss, ULF magnetic field applied water will be a basic medium for the magneto-protonics.

This paper proposed a new technique which makes the strategy trees for the derivative (option) trading investment decision based on the behavioral finance theory and optimizes it using evolutionary computation, in order to achieve high profitability. The strategy tree uses a technical analysis based on a statistical, experienced technique for the investment decision. The trading model is represented by various technical indexes, and the strategy tree is optimized by the genetic programming(GP) which is one of the evolutionary computations. Moreover, this paper proposed a method using the prospect theory based on the behavioral finance theory to set psychological bias for profit and deficit and attempted to select the appropriate strike price of option for the higher investment efficiency. As a result, this technique produced a good result and found the effectiveness of this trading model by the optimized dealings strategy.

波長7.7米,8.8米を用ひ,宮城縣牡鹿郡女川町と江の島及出島間,次に山形縣飛島と酒田町間に於て行つた超短波無線電話の試驗成績が述べてある。送受信機は高所に設置せず,將來の實現を容易にするため成可く郵便局に置く方針で實驗した。その結果は極めて好成績で,何處も現在の局と局の間で無線電話を實施するに何等差支ない事を知つた。飛島と酒田間の實驗では有線電話に接續し,酒田町内の一般加入者,山形,秋田,仙臺と通話する事が出來た。特に酒田,山形,秋田へ中繼した時は極めて良好な成績を得る事が出來た。

Various types of radars have been developed and used until now—such as Pulse, FM-CW, and Spread Spectrum. Additionally, another type of radar has been proposed recently. The radar measures distance by using standing wave and has been named as “Standing Wave Radar." Standing wave radar has a shorter minimum detectable range and higher accuracy compared to other types. However, the radar can not measure distance down to zero meters like other types of radars. Minimum detectable range of the standing wave radar depends on a usable frequency range. A wider frequency range is required if we need to measure shorter distance. We show a new method for measuring distance down to zero meters without expanding the frequency range. Specifically, we derive an analytic signal, which is a complex sinusoidal signal, by processing the signals obtained from multiple detectors, and we calculate and obtain distances by Fourier transform of the analytic signal. We then verify the validity of our method by simulations based on numerical calculation. The results show that it is possible to measure distance down to zero meters. In our method, measurement errors are caused by gain deviation of the detectors. They are several cm if the gain deviations are less than ±1%. Prevalent radars still have a common defect that they can not measure distance from zero to the minimum detectable range. We expect that the defect will be eliminated by putting our method into practical use.

Presently, many of the already proposed blood circulation models are mainly partial models although they are precise models. A complete model that is a combination of these partial models are difficult to analyze because it is complicated to consider both the viscosity of blood and circulatory details at the same time. So, it is difficult to control the model parameters in order to adapt to various cases of circulatory diseases. This paper proposes a complete circulation model as a lumped electrical circuit, which is comparatively simple. In the circuit model, total blood is modeled as seven lumped capacitors, representing the functions of atriums, ventricles, arteries, veins and lungs. We regard the variation of the ventricle capacitance as the driving force of the complete circulation model. In our model, we considered only the variation of pressure between each part and the blood capacity of each part. In particular, the contraction function of the left ventricle is examined under the consideration of whole blood circulation.

One type of braking system for railway vehicles is the eddy current brake. Because this type of brake has the problem of rail heating, it has not been used for practical applications in Japan. Therefore, we proposed the use of a linear induction motor (LIM) for dynamic braking in eddy current brake systems. The LIM reduces rail heating and uses an inverter for self excitation.In this paper, we estimated the performance of an LIM from experimental results of a fundamental test machine and confirmed that the LIM generates an approximately constant braking force under constant current excitation. At relatively low frequencies, this braking force remains unaffected by frequency changes. The reduction ratio of rail heating is also approximately proportional to the frequency. We also confirmed that dynamic braking resulting in no electrical output can be used for drive control of the LIM. These characteristics are convenient for the realization of the LIM rail brake system.

Terahertz (THz) electromagnetic waves, which cover an unexplored portion of spectrum between infrared and microwaves at frequencies from 100 GHz to 10 THz, have been expected to offer innovations in sensing, imaging, spectroscopy, and communications. This paper reviews recent advances in the terahertz technology, focusing on recent system applications and key devices to enable practical use.
