これまでに, 共役リノール酸 (CLA) は, 発がん抑制, 体脂肪低減をはじめとする多彩な生理機能を示すことが動物実験により明らかにされ, その作用機序についてもある程度明らかにされてきている。中でも, 体脂肪低減作用はヒトでも有効性が報告され, とくに注目されている。CLAはリノール酸 (実際にはサフラワー油など) をアルカリ異性化して調製される。この方法では9c, 11t-18 : 2と10t12c18 : 2の2種類のCLA異性体がほぼ1 : 1の割合で生成する。市販のCLAもこの方法で調製されている。 CLAの生理機能は異性体によって異なり, 9c, 11t-8 : 2が発がん抑制など限られた効果しか示さないのに対し, 10t12c18 : 2は体脂肪低減を含む多彩な生理機i能を発揮する。CLAは天然には9c, 11t8 : 2として牛肉や乳製品に微量 (5mg/g脂質程度) 存在するが, これらは量的にも重要な供給源とはならない。10t12c-異性体の体脂肪低減作用を期待してCLAサプリメントが国内外で市販されている。最近, CLAを配合した加工食品も市場に出始め, 機能性素材として, CLAは新たな局面を迎えている。

The present study was undertaken to examine the effect of cerebrosides derived from the sea cucumber Acaudina molpadioides and the starfish Asterias amurensis on the anti-tumor activity in vitro and in vivo. The results indicated that both Acaudina molpadioides cerebrosides (AMC) and Asterias amurensis cerebrosides (AAC) exhibited an inhibitory effect on cell proliferation through induction of apoptosis in S180 cells. Moreover, administration of AMC and AAC (50 mg/kg BW) on S180 tumor bearing mice reduced the tumor weight by 45.24 % and 35.71 %, respectively. In S180 ascites tumor model, AMC and AAC (50 mg/kg BW) treatment exhibited a significant ascites fluid growth inhibition of 31.23 % and 22.72 %. Furthermore, the ascites tumor cell viability ratio in AMC and AAC groups reduced to 50.89 % and 51.69 %, respectively. The life span of AMC and AAC administrated groups increased by 55.28 % and 35.77 % compared to control. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis demonstrated that the administration of AMC and AAC down-regulated the expression of Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, while on the other hand, up-regulated Bax, Cytochrome c, caspase-9 and caspase-3 mRNA level of the S180 ascites tumor cells. It was concluded that AMC and AAC should have potential anti-tumor activity both in vitro and in vivo by inducing apoptosis through the mitochondria-mediated apoptosis pathway. AAC seemed to be more effective than AMC in vitro but less potent in vivo. It may depend on the structural differences in their fatty acid groups and sphingoid bases.

A novel sulfated glycosphingolipid, SGL-1, was isolated from the ascidian Ciona intestinalis, prepared from chloroform/methanol extracts and fractionated successively on DEAE Sephadex-A25, Florisil and Iatrobeads column chromatographies. Chemical structural analysis was performed using methylation analysis, gas-liquid chromatography, combined gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. This chemical structure is presented as GlcCer I6-Sulfate. The ceramide moiety was specified by t16:0, t17:0, br,t17:0, t18:0 and br,t18:0 as sphingoids, and 2-hydroxy, saturated fatty acids as represented by docosanoic and tetracosanoic acids.

両親媒性高分子電解質は水中で, 疎水基問の会合により多様な組織体を形成する。形成される組織体の構造は疎水基と親水基の化学構造, 両者の組成比と配列, 高分子主鎖との結合様式など, 高分子の化学構造に大きく依存する。このような両親媒性高分子電解質により形成される凝集組織体のレオロジー的な性質は, 凝集体の構造, 形態, 大きさなどによって決まり, これらは疎水基の会合が同-ポリマー内で起こるか, ポリマー問で起こるか, あるいはその両者が同時に起こるかにより大きく異なる。また近年, 両親媒性高分子電解質の分子設計により, 水中で形成される凝集組織体に刺激応答性を付与することが可能になった。たとえば, pH変化をトリガーとする高分子ミセルの形成や解離を制御できるブロック共重合体などが知られている。

The elastomer materials with hieralchical structure and suitable wettability are useful as biological surface model. In the present study, urethane resin and silicone resin elastomers with hierarchical rough surfaces were prepared and referred to as “fractal elastomers”. We found a hierarchy of small projections that existed over larger ones on these surfaces. These elastomers were synthesized by transferring a fractal surface structure of alkylketene dimer. The rough structure enhanced the hydrophobicity and weakened friction resistance of the elastomer surfaces. These materials can be useful for artificial skin with biomimetic surface properties.

This article reports about the presence of some of the components of minor fraction of virgin olive oils, polyphenols and tocopherols, in several of the VOO varieties from Extremadura. The relationship between both classes of compounds and the oxidative stability of the oils is also examined. The levels of total phenols, α, β, and γ tocopherols showed significant differences (p<0.05) among the different varieties. The concentration of total phenolic compounds varied from 130 to 1203 mg/kg. The α-tocopherol was the most representative in the seven varieties (95.97 %) and ranged from (288 - 170) to (485 - 244) mg/kg in the Morisca and Carrasqueña varieties respectively. On the other hand, a positive high lineal correlation was observed between oxidative stability and studied along the maturity of the fruit and the total phenolic compounds (natural antioxidants) (r2>0.90; p<0.05), α-tocopherol (r2>0.85; p<0.05), β-tocopherol (r2>0.70; p<0.05) and total-tocopherols (r2>0.87; p<0.05), in all the olive oils obtained from the seven varieties of olive from Extremadura. It is noticeable that α-tocopherol fraction contributed equally to the oxidative stability of all the VOO whereas the largest contribution was provided by the oil phenolic fraction, as it was the case of the Carrasqueña variety.

A new quantification method for triglyceride (TG) molecular species contained in fish oil was developed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)-ultraviolet detector (UV) system. In this experiment, triacontyl silane column and a mixture of alcohol and acetonitrile were used for column and mobile phase, respectively. Fifteen kinds of TG molecular species exist in fish oil were collected and the calibration curves monitored at 210nm were acquired for each TG molecular species. Also, evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD), widely used for the detection of fish oil TG molecular species, was tandem jointed after UV to compare the calibration curves for each TG molecular species. As the results, the calibration curves by UV with isocratic elution system were linear lines, on the contrary, those by ELSD were not linear. The slope of each calibration curve by UV was not the same and there was a tendency that TG molecular species having big partition number indicates a small slope calibration curve. The HPLC-UV with gradient system was also examined, but a few of standard TGs did not provide linear calibration curve. Consequently, we concluded that isocratic HPLC-UV system would be an available method for the quantification of TG molecular species in fish oil.
