沖縄島北部において捕獲されたジャワマングース(Herpestes javanicus)133頭およびクマネズミ(Rattus rattus)54頭のレプトスピラ(Leptospira spp.)の保有調査を実施した。その結果,ジャワマングースにおけるレプトスピラの分離率は30.1%であり,クマネズミでは20.4%であった。ジャワマングースから分離したレプトスピラは,抗血清を用いた凝集試験およびflaB遺伝子配列に基づく種の同定により,33株がLeptospira sp.血清群Hebdomadis,内14株はL. interrogans,5株がL. sp.血清型Javanicaおよび2株がL. interrogans血清群Autumnalisと推定された。これまでにも沖縄島のジャワマングースから血清型HebdomadisとAutumnalisは分離されているが,血清型Javanicaを分離したのは今回が初めてである。クマネズミから分離されたレプトスピラは,11株すべてがLeptospira sp.血清型Javanica,内1株がLeptospira borgpetersenii血清型Javanicaと推定された。沖縄島北部のヒトにおける抗体調査では,血清群Hebdomadisに対する抗体の保有率が高く,また,近年この地域から血清型Hebdomadisに感染した事例が報告されている。これらのことから,沖縄島北部において,ジャワマングースがヒトへのレプトスピラの感染環の一端をになっていることが示唆され,クマネズミはマングースへのレプトスピラ媒介動物であることが推察された。

海ぶどうの細菌学的汚染状況を把握し,効果的な衛生対策を確立するために調査・研究を行った.沖縄県内16か所の養殖場で各生産段階や製品など11か所における腸炎ビブリオおよび海洋細菌の汚染実態調査を実施した.調査の結果,養殖海水中の海洋細菌数は,養殖により平均10<sup>3</sup>から10<sup>6</sup> cfu/mLまで増加した.一方,海ぶどうの海洋細菌数は母藻から出荷の段階,あるいは出荷7日後まで平均10<sup>7</sup> cfu/gと高い菌数で推移した.腸炎ビブリオは使用海水56%,母藻25%,製品19%から検出されたが,<i>tdh</i> は増菌液,分離株のいずれからも検出されなかった.今回の調査結果を踏まえ,今後,各養殖工程に適した具体的な消毒方法,殺菌装置の評価・改良等についてさらなる検討が必要である.

We investigated for HEV-RNA in serum samples obtained from 15 wild boars in the Iriomote Island of Okinawa Prefecture, and 2 of 15 (13.3%) were positive for HEV-RNA. Sequence analysis of a part of ORF1 region (326 nt) indicated that the 2 isolates from the Iriomote's boars (wbOK126 and wbOK128) were fairly remote from known strains: none of known sequences showed a nucleotide similarity greater than 90%. In phylogenetic tree analyses, however, the wbOK126 and wbOK128 isolates segregated to genotype 4, and formed a cluster with Chinese strains, rather than with Japanese ones interestingly. Regarding the geographical situation of the Iriomote Island (i.e., nearer to China than to Japan's main lands), our present results provide a clue to the origin of Japan-indigenous HEV strains.

Among non-conventional stimulations to accelerate organic reactions, high-pressure, ultrasound irradiation, and microwave irradiation are representative methods and are now becoming more and more popular in laboratories. This review focuses on organic reactions under microwave irradiation since this technique has attracted broad range of interest from the scientific and practical viewpoints. After the brief description on the historical and theoretical backgrounds of the dielectric heating, microwave effects, practical aspects of microwave heating (choice of solvent and microwave reactors), scope, and limitations of microwave-assisted synthetic reactions are discussed.

Development of the stereocontrolled carbon-carbon bond formation is one of the most important tasks in synthetic organic chemistry. We have reported that a zincated hydrazone, which is a synthetic equivalent and an isoelectronic compound of a metal enolate, reacts with various vinyl metal compounds such as vinyl silane, vinyl stannane, and vinylmagnesium halide to form a new functionalized organometallics bearing two metals at the same carbon. We recently found that a vinyl boronate can also serve as the carbometalation acceptor and shows high reactivity toward organozinc reagents. Here we report an alkenyl boronate, which possesses a variety of substituent at the β-carbon to boron, undergoes the addition of a zincated hydrazone in high yields with high diastereoselectivity. The zincated hydrazone derived from 2-methyl-3-pentanone hydrazone, thus, reacted with <I>trans-</i>hexenyl boronate to give a product in 92% yield with high diastereoselectivity (d.r. > 99:1). On the other hand, the reaction to the corresponding <I>cis-</i>isomer gave another diastereomer with a diastereoselectivity of 16:84, showing high stereospecificity of the carbozincation process.
