<p>Today we can take many pictures with smart phones or digital cameras, and can edit them easily by ourselves. These pictures are very useful not only for hobby, but for investigation. It is very important to check whether they are doctored or not. This paper proposes an automatic detection method of doctored JPEG images based on two different analyisis: the block noise analysis and the Double-JPEG analysis. Former can find unnatural boundaries of 8×8 DCT blocks while latter can find double saved images by other editing software. Finally SVM classifies images into doctored and undoctored groups based on the above analysis. Experimental results have shown that the detection accuracy of our method achieves 0.90 in terms of F-measure while J. He's method achieves 0.82.</p>

This paper presents a method for integrating gamma correction and gain control functions on a CMOS image sensor with logarithmic response. The proposed method is based on a fact that gain variation and level shifting in logarithmic compressed domain are equivalent to the gamma correction and the gain control, respectively, in the exponentially expanded domain. The prototype chip integrating proposed function is fabricated with triple-metal double poly-silicon n-well 0.6μm CMOS technology. As a result of calculation using measurement data of test circuits, the gamma value can be adjusted to 0.45 when the gain given in the logarithmic compressed domain is 0.741, and a gain of 20dB is obtained by the voltage level shift of 60mV.

In recent years, RFID systems have received much attention in information management and security. For evaluation of RFID systems, study of electromagnetic wave propagation and scattering of UHF wave and microwave transmitted from tag antenna to reader antenna in in-door and out-door is indispensable. In this paper, we describe the characteristics of electromagnetic wave scattering, diffraction and interference by obstacles in propagation channel and show the distribution of received level using FDTD method. In RFID systems, receiving characteristics are strongly influenced by the structure of roads and buildings for out-door environment and rooms, doors and windows for in-door environment. Three-dimensional numerical analysis is studied to evaluate the effects of the earth of roads and building with finite heights for out-door applications and effects of ceil and floor of buildings for in-door applications. Signal processing and control are important to recognize each tag code correctly even if multiple codes from tags are received by a reader simultaneously. In this paper, received characteristics when multiple tags transmit signals modulated by ASK are studied by FDTD method and compared with the analytical results.

This paper proposes a new method for dynamic control of redundant manipulators via artificial potential field approach (APFA). The proposed method is based on the APFA with a combination of a time scale transformation and a time base generator which works as a time scale compressor. The dynamic behavior of the manipulator can be controlled by using the proposed method without any change of the form of the designed controller itself. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by computer simulations for redundant manipulators.

Recently, active researches have been performed to increase a robot's intelligence so as to realize the dexterous tasks in complex environment such as in the street or homes. However, since the skillful human-like task ability is so difficult to be formulated for the robot, not only the analytical and theoretical control researches but also the direct human motion mimetic approach is necessary. In this paper, we propose that to realize the environmental interactive task, it is insufficient to replay the human motion along. We show a novel motion generation approach to integrate the cognitive information into the mimic of human motions so as to realize the final complex task by the robot. As a detailed example of the task, we consider on how to carry up a human by cooperating two hands.

For the system providing server SSD (Solid State Drive) cache and volume tiering functions, it is difficult to determine which data to be placed into SSD tier on the basis of the number of I/O (Input/Output). In this paper, we propose a volume tiering method cooperating with the server SSD cache, which counts the number of I/O on the server and allocates storage SSD to read-intensive areas. We conduct an I/O simulation experiment using I/O log traced on the real environment to validate the proposed method. We show that the proposed method reduces I/O average response time by up to 10% compared to the existing method through the I/O simulation experiment.

Since the shape of color gamut differs for each color reproduction device, it is necessary to transform the colors in order to fit them into the reproducible colors, called Gamut Mapping. However, there have been no practical method for gamut mapping so far because it is difficult to describe the shape of gamut effectively. In this paper, we propose a method of extraction and mapping of destination color gamut based on mutual color space conversion between device-dependent and -independent color spaces performed by two multilayered neural networks. Furthermore, we propose a novel method for gamut mapping which adjusts compression ratio adaptively to the shape of gamut.

We have conducted a series of studies on a non-contact groove sensing and reproduction of sound signal from phonograph records based on digital image and signal processing. Images of sound grooves were captured by a PC scanner having an appropriate resolution. After an image processing is performed to improve the image contrast, we have investigated filtering methods to extract the position of the groove edges. In addition, we have linearized the arc-shaped groove lines in order to make subsequent signal processing easy. Finally, we have attempted to reproduce the recorded sound waveform using a set of coordinates of the groove edges and created a WAVE-file for sound playback on PCs.

The authors started studying and developing a new capacitor used for a 1.5 MHz highly-stable LC tuning circuit in 1963. The high-stability of capacitor was severely required under the conditions that the signal voltage is from 1.4 to 9.2 V, the temperature is from -30 to 65°C and the period is for 20 years. The aging characteristics of the ceramic capacitors available 20 years ago were ΔC/C=±0.1%/year or so, but the requirements was ΔC/C=(-0.01±0.08)%/20 years. In addition, no design method to satisfy the requirements was established.Therefore, the authors developed a ceramic capacitor housed in a low-humidity metallic case using a paraelectric (MgTiO3) element, considering the stability of aging characteristics for 20 years.It could be assumed during the study that the aging characteristics would change almost linearly with the logarithm of time under the influence of humidity. So, the authors proposed the characteristics change for 20 years could be expected based on the data for 10 days of the specimen. To confirm that the proposal was correct, they measured the aging characteristics for 20 years, and found that the measurement value was within the specified value of ΔC/C which was (-0.01±0.08) %/20 years.

This paper presents a method of wireless-power transmission to devices which move from close distance to far area from transmitting antenna. UHF range, specifically 430 MHz, was selected in this study so that both of the near-field and the electro-magnetic energy would exist in the applicable distance and the rectenna would be small enough. The resulting hardware is compact and light enough to be installed on a moving target with only minor sacrifices in size and weight. As a demonstration of this concept, a rectenna and two driving motors were embedded in each of the four rotors of a quadcopter. The rotor assembly (rotor, antenna, rectifier, two motors) is powered by UHF waves and rotates around a mechanically fixed shaft. Successful test flights of the quadcopter demonstrate the feasibility of wireless power transmission to mobile targets.

We propose a high security facial recognition system using a cellular phone on the mobile network. This system is composed of a face recognition engine based on optical phase correlation which uses phase information with emphasis on a Fourier domain, a control sever and the cellular phone with a compact camera for taking pictures, as a portable terminal. Compared with various correlation methods, our face recognition engine revealed the most accurate EER of less than 1%. By using the JAVA interface on this system, we implemented the stable system taking pictures, providing functions to prevent spoofing while transferring images. This recognition system was tested on 300 women students and the results proved this system effective.

This paper is concerned with the calculation of the epipolar line based on the time series images of a moving monocular camera. The purpose of our research is to present a simple method to calculate the epipolar line with sufficient accuracy for matching between the time series images. In this paper we propose an useful method which allows as to calculate the epipolar line by using the compound sensor that combined a monocular camera and an inertial sensor. The inertial sensor gives us the rotation angles and the accelerated velocity vectors of the camera. First, a pair of camera-images is changed into the relation of parallel stereo vision, by the use of the rotation angles. And the baseline between the parallel images is determined by using the rotation data and the acceleration data. Next, the epipolar line of a targeted point is obtained. Moreover, we show the validity of this method which used the combined sensor that can be applied even when a camera carries out movement of 6 degrees of freedom, by the experiment using the camera images and the inertial sensor's data.

We developed a system that composes BGM automatically with color informations of a picture. This system uses only color informations, so it has no object recognitions and can evaluate full-color picture at high speed.In this paper, we propose a concept of characteristic colors for vision-like evaluating. We succeeded in extracting characteristic colors from a full-color picture by using fuzzy theory and proposing a new expression color method, called dome shaped color system. We also were able to compose various progressive patterns with fuzzy theory, in order to coexist general rules and exceptional inflexions of chord progressions for making music.This system is useful for translating visual informations to suitable auditory informations for handicapped persons, also it can be used for educations with high fused audio-visual media, and so on.

KARAOKE is a popular amusement for old and young. Many KARAOKE machines have singing evaluation function. However, it is often said that the scores given by KARAOKE machines do not match human evaluation. In this paper a KARAOKE scoring method strongly correlated with human evaluation is proposed. This paper proposes a way to evaluate songs based on the distance between singing pitch and musical scale, employing a vibrato extraction method based on template matching of spectrum. The results show that correlation coefficients between scores given by the proposed system and human evaluation are -0.76&sim;-0.89.

Modern society has seen a tremendous growth in the amount of digital data, however a database for human stress currently is not prevalent. Additionally, diagnostic criteria based on evidence, quantitative scales have not been fully established for stress. The purpose of this research is to provide visually presentation method of stress evidence paper in conjunction with web article in order to help people understand and overcome their stress. We propose a stress evidence search engine named “Kokoronoma” incorporated with i) a rate of evidence which express the relationship between the web article and the scientific paper, ii) human machine interface to show the rate of evidence visually. The fabricated stress evidence search engine was evaluated by the 10 young male users to compare with a multipurpose search engine as Google and Google Scholar. Three kinds of search problem as serotonin, mood disorder, and depression were used for the evaluation. As the results, Stress evidence paper and the rate of evidence were showed in conjunction with web article, automatically. The scores of subjective evaluation of the stress evidence search engine for visible observation images, intuitive awareness, and un-complicatedness showed higher than that of the multipurpose search engine. It was considered that the fabricated stress evidence search engine has an effective in reducing the stress of user.

Along with a rapid increase in the size and complexity of software today, the number of required test cases is also increasing. Although a lot of approaches to derive test cases are proposed, in case of deriving test cases for combination of state transition, N-switch coverage using state transition testing is only one approach. This approach cannot manage increasing test cases. In this paper, a practical knowledge to derive high priority procedural combination test cases in test cases from 1-switch coverage using state transition testing is formalized. Procedural combinations between tasks to be tested which is derived from data design documents are defined as rules. It is confirmed that the expected procedural combination test cases can be derived using this approach from a concrete instance of an IT system.
