現在, 人道的対人地雷撤去問題に関して, センサ系について注目されているが, 感度・コスト・安全性を両立させることは困難とされている。我々はこれまでに, この問題を解決すべく, 新たに地雷探査に関する概念の提案を行い, 打撃推進型プローブによる地雷センサシステムの試験機を製作し, その基本動作実験を行ってきた。今回, これまでに得た知見を元に, センサ系動作の改良を行い, 新たな試作機を開発した。本報告では, その設計原理と基本動作実験に関する報告を行う。

It is difficult that assemble a minute machine using still minute parts. If assemble it, space and friction between the parts cannot disregard in the micro world. However, such a problem is solvable if the objective function is realized by one continuum. The continuum having such a specific function is called "Functional Continuum (FC)". In this study, the FC for the key switch of the keyboard of a notebook PC is proposed, that is the one structure key switch using the stainless thin plate. On the other hand, the existing notebook PC has the rubber dome and the pantograph as a key structure part, and the number of parts is very much. In this paper, the two kinds of test pieces are actually manufactured, and the characteristic evaluation is performed experimentally.

Since carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite (C/C composite) materials have good mechanical properties at high temperature and low radioactivity under irradiated conditions, they have been used as the plasma-facing components in fusion facilities. Efficient utilization of these mechanical properties will lead to the use of c/c composite materials, these materials are expected for use as control rods for gas-cooled rectors and irradiating capsules. In the case of using c/c composite materials as the structural components, it is very important to evaluate the mechnical and thermal properties as well as fracture behavior. For structural components used in a reactor core, it is necessary to evaluate neutron-irradiation effects on these materials. However evaluation of these effects has been difficult, thus data on irradiated c/c composite materials are lacking. In this study, three kinds of c/c composite (CC-312, CX2002U and MCI) made of different fiber materials were irradiated under the condition of maximum neutron fluence of 2×10^<25> n/m^2 and maximum irradiating temperature of 1200℃, and the relationship between change of mechanical properties due to irradiation and the constitution of c/c composite materials was evaluated. In the case of CC-312 made of PAN fiber, Young's modulus changed slightly and bending strength after irradiation. In the case of CX2002U made of rayon fiber, Young's modulus and bending strength increased after irradiation. In the case of MCI made of pitch fiber, Young's modulus increased after irradiation, but bending strength decreased slightly after irradiation. These results enable the elucidation of the relationship between properties of fiber meterials and irradiation effect on c/c composite materials.

This paper addresses the fusion of home electric appliances and the robot which has some functions of search and rescue activities support in the collapsed house. The mobile robot of the interphone type with crawler arms was developed and it is called HoVIT. This robot aims at a speedily and effectiveness of the search and rescue activities supports in the collapsed house. This paper discusses the trajectory tracking control system by using life style pattern for HoVIT. Experimental results were indicated the feasibility of the proposed control system.

She is the wife of DoshishaUniversity founder Joseph Hardy Neesima and one of the first Protestant women in Japan, as well as decorated warnurse. I will describe her life as the "brave story of a pioneer."

We describe a method of calculating yawed inflow effects on horizontal axis wind turbine rotors. Yawed inflow brings about asymmetric induced velocity distributions on the rotor plane due to an inclined vortex wake construction. For the calculation of yawed inflow phenomena, an inviscid aerodynamic model based on pressure distributions is adopted. Under the assumptions of an incompressible inviscid irrotational flow, the pressure perturbation satisfies the Laplace equation and acts as an acceleration potential function. The rotor blades are represented by spanwise and chordwise pressure distributions composed of analytical first-order asymptotic solutions to the Laplace equation. Integration of the accelerations determines the velocities in the rotor plane. With these velocities the aerodynamic loads can be calculated. An advantage of this model is that evaluation of the relatively complicated unstationary effects from the vorticity in the wake is not necessary in the calculation procedure.

The wear phenomenon of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) in the knee and hip prostheses is one of the major restriction factors on the longevity of these implants. Especially in retrieved knee prostheses with screw holes in the tibial tray, the cold flow into the screw holes is frequently observed on the undersurface of the UHMWPE tibial components. In most retrieved cases, the protruded areas of cold flow on the undersurface were located at the reverse side of the severely worn surface of the UHMWPE tibial component. It appears that the cold flow into screw holes contributes to increase of wear of the UHMWPE tibial components. In this study, knee joint simulator tests were performed to investigate the influence of the cold flow into screw holes on the wear of UHMWPE. Significant cold flow into screw hole was identified in the undersurface of the UHMWPE specimen, and was associated with delamination in the contact area on the opposite side of the specimen.

Fan noise data are categorized into source characteristic terms and a frequency response term expressing attenuation in the propagation passage. These terms are determined by sweeping the fan speed from 1000 to 4500 rpm. The fan specific speed and the impeller diameter are 42 and 460 mm. The blade number is 12. By setting the exponent in a power law relationship of sound pressure level versus frequency as 3, two factors describing the source level are determined with simple relationships to the scroll cut-off location. By selecting the distance, the noise level is possibly reduced by more than 10 dB without influencing fan performance. The frequency response if satisfactorily presented by introducing a one-dimensional linear wave model, where the key passage is blade passages selectively determined by the noise wavelength. By choosing the blade number or the inlet duct length so that a frequency of the maximum attenuation is achieved, a noise reduction of 10 dB is again expected.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the influence of different strings on the dynamics of Japanese Bow, and to investigate the relationship between the measured mechanical data and the feeling of shooter. Four strings, aramid fiber "Kevlar", "Technora", polyester fiber "Vectran", and hemp string were used for the shooting experiment by nine subjects. At that time, feeling data through questionnaires were collected. The results were summarized as follows: (1) in the logarithmic decrement of bending and torsional oscillation after release, hemp string was highest in this four strings, (2) the difference of fibers didn't have influence on frequency of the oscillation, (3) in the energy transmission efficiency, Kevlar, Technora and Vectran were about 69%, hemp was 67.7%, (4) it is also found that the feeling of shooter was related to the measured mechanical data significantly.

円形フランジ締結体に曲げ外力が作用したときの各ボルトに発生する軸力の増加分を推定する因子である曲げ内力係数を二次元弾性論および弾性床上のはり理論により解析する方法を示し、ボルト穴中心円直径が曲げ内力係数に及ぼす影響について検討している。さらにボルトに発生する曲げモーメントの影響を考慮した応力についても解析方法を示した。これらの結果を確かめるための実験を行い、両者はかなりよく一致することを示した。

In order to facilitate practical application of hydrogen fueled engines with external mixture formations. it is necessary to determine the cause of backfire and to identify appropriate countermeasures. It has been found in our study that one of the causes of backfire is attributed to the electric discharge which occurs after the ignition of the spark plug when the pressure in the cylinder becomes low enough to discharge the electric charge remaining in the ignition system. The electric charge in the plug cable remains much longer when hydrogen is used as the fuel than when gasoline is used. In other words, the number of ions produced from hydrogen-air combustion after the ignition of the spark plug is less than that from gasoline-air combustion, so it is difficult for the ion current to flow out through the gap of the spark plug. It has been found in our experiments that backfire takes place when the electric discharge occurs during the intake stroke and that engine operation could be performed up to an excess air ratio of λ=1 without any backfire at a low engine speed when the ignition system was modified such that no electric charge remained in the spark plug cable.

Engineering design usually starts with a customer need, and then proceeds through several stages: conceptual design, functional design, layout design, structural design and production design. As design proceeds, design information about the artifact becomes concrete and quantified gradually. In the last several decades, computer simulation technologies including FEM have been developed for the later design stages at which correct and concrete numerical information is available. On the other hand, computer support for the earlier design stages is not sufficient due to difficulties in handling ambiguous and qualitative design information. However, it is well known that design at the early stages has a great influence on the final design solution, and designers need design support tools for upstream design. Therefore, we have established a research society for 1D-CAE, which is a general term for idea, methodology and tools applicable for upstream design support, and discuss the concept and definition of 1D-CAE. This paper reports our discussion about 1D-CAE.

A Wells turbine operating under irregular wave conditions has been analyzed theoretically. It is shown that the turbine performance depends on a unique parameter, including characteristic parameters of the irregular wave, turbine speed and dimensions of the turbine and air chamber. In order to obtain the optimum value of this parameter, a model test has been performed using a computer-controlled wind tunnel, which can simulate arbitrary oscillating flows based on spectra of irregular waves. From this value a set of optimum dimensions of a Wells turbine system can be determined. Furthermore, starting and running characteristics of the Wells turbine have been obtained by a computer simulation. It is possible to predict the optimum value of the parameter and behavior of the output coefficient by computer simulation.

With downsizing of automobile electrical components, the sliding conditions of gears and clutches have become more severe. As a response to this, PTFE powder is used in lubricating oils as an additive. However, the relationship between the properties of PTFE powder and the friction characteristics of lubricants containing PTFE powder has not been clarified yet. In this study, we measured the friction characteristics of a lubricant by varying the powder concentration and particle size on a pin-on-disk friction tester. As a result, the following two findings were obtained; 1. As the powder concentration increases, the coefficient of friction decreases. 2. At a high powder concentration, the lower the lubricating oil liquidity, the lower the coefficient of friction.

We propose touch-game application as a new function of Step-on Interface. It is development of the application for recreations. Users operate the screen projected by the projector by touching by hand. We considered projecting a screen on a desk so that elderly people could perform a recreation safely. This paper shows development of the application of the recreation that elderly people can do it happily and safely all the time.
