There are some refineries equiped with a desalter which removes impurities contained in crude oil and reduces fouling and corrosion in refinery equipment.This article is based on the literatures, home and abroad, and summaries what impurities are contained in crude oil, what benefits can be gained by eliminating these, Particularly putting emphasis on the relation between the corrosion and desalting, what theories of desalting are, and what financial sawings are expected from desalting.Desalting is said to be good for reduction of fouling problem on equipments, but this is not always the case with prevention of corrosion. There is no agreed opinion about its effectiveness, for it depends on what type of crude oil is processed and what type of plants are installed in the refinery. Therefore, budget justification for desalting is the problem for each refinery to decide under consideration of its refinery situations.If, in the near future, desulfurization plant of residuum is forced to be installed from view point of air pollution, the two-stage desalting might be closed up.

In the safety design of marine systems, it has to justly give a matter over human life in the case of outbreak of a marine accident such as fires and collisions. It may be difficult to establish a safe evacuation system by the cause of uncertain behavioral patterns based on human factors with ambiguity. Besides, the psychological effect on behavior of evacuee that is terrified under the stimulus by accident, should be considered in the redundancy system for safe evacuation. Accordingly, the safe evacuation system with the intention of securing evacuation routes and reducing escape time, is desirably designed by grasping the personnel behavior with psychological intelligence process in an emergency of marine accident.In this paper, the evacuation behaviors can be predicted by using the proposed walking model with individual capacity of visible length and avoidance process for obstacles. Further, the mathematical model of psychological intelligence process in an emergency is contrived herein, in which the evacuation movement is simulated in the consideration of the decrease of walking speed and the occurrence of self-isolation in psychological action according to the magnitudes of accident stimulus. By applying these models to common spaces in a dinning cruise ship, taking account of the human factors with psychological action is rather valued in the safe evacuation system and the validity of the proposed models can be confirmed.

研究論文(Article)平成17 年に登録有形文化財(建築物)<第26-0199 号>として国に登録された明治末期の煉瓦建築である衣笠会館(旧藤村岩次郎邸)は、今まで設計者、施工者、竣工年、建物の当初の用途に関して確かな情報が得られないまま、「明治期の希少な和洋折衷の煉瓦住宅建築の遺構」という評価がなされてきた。しかし、論者は、明治40 年前後の日本人の住文化を念頭におき、京都綿ネル株式会社を経営する実業家であった藤村岩次郎氏の職業や経済力、家族構成、敷地における会館の位置、建物の形状から推して、住宅建築にはあたらないと考えてきた。そこで、藤村家への聞き取り調査、古写真などの検証、京都綿ネル株式会社の本社屋建築との比較、衣笠会館の棟札発見、改修箇所の検証とこの時代の建築事情、住文化などを総合して衣笠会館の本来の機能と作者に迫ろうと試みた。最大の成果は、棟札発見によって、従来不詳であった設計、施工者について、請負人と記された棟梁・鈴鹿彌惣吉が施工し、上棟式が明治37 年10 月11 日であるという新しい知見をえたことである。またこの建物の古写真、改修箇所の比較検証から当初は館内すべてが洋間のみであり、現状の2 階四室の和室のうち3 室は大正末期から昭和初期、残りの1 室は昭和40 年代後半に改修されたと判断された。そして、藤村家への聞き取り調査からは、施主が造営した当初は、母屋としての木造平屋の和館、木造平屋建の洋館1 棟、煉瓦造2 階建の洋館1 棟(衣笠会館)、茶室、蔵4 棟の建造物からなる屋敷全体の構成も判明した。この建物の機能としては、従来の定説であった住居としてではなく、当時のお屋敷建築の定石である接客スペースとしての洋館であるが、一条通に面した表門から入ったすぐの位置にあること、施主の仕事場が会社だけではなかったこと、和館の母屋、敷地奥の奥座敷としての洋館の存在と総合して判断するならば、「表屋」的な、つまり事務所棟としての機能を担う建物であったという結論を導いた。
