The phrase “Korean Wave” appeared for the first time in a Chinese press. It was used in Youth News of Beijing in November, 1999, in a situation where Korean TV dramas spread to China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.It was intended as a warning about young people getting absorbed in the Korean popular culture. The tide made its way to Japan, bringing about a “Korean boom” in 2003. Here in Japan, the expression “Korean Waves” covers not only Korean dramas, movies, music and other areas of popular culture in vogue here, but also remarkable events in politics, economy, international relations, news media and academic worlds in Korea. Talks about Korean softwares and contents promotion policies are referred to as part of Korean Waves. What have “Korean Waves” brought to Japan in the last decade of years? In order to see this, the author will examine the process in which the Japanese have brought in the Korean Culture, especially TV dramas and movies, and how antipathies and dislikes to Korean Culture have grown.

This paper will ask how Japan should go about establishing a favorable national security environment, and Will consider this through an analysis of Japan’s role in the process. First of all, it will focus on the East China Sea’s Senkaku Islands, while examining China’s maritime expansion and shifting American strategies. From there it will analyze the transformation of the security environment. Next, Japan’s response to the changing security environment in East Asia will be considered, along with the government’s approval of recourse to the right of collective defense. And Finally, attention will be paid to the influence Japan has had on setting up the Security Consultative Committee (known as 2-puls-2) with other major world powers, paving the way to establishing a new security environment.

This paper focuses not only on the definition of “Christian literature for children”, but also on the religious aspects of two books, namely, The Happy Prince and Other Tales (1888) and The House of Pomegranates(1891) by Oscar Wilde. Although these two books are well-known as children's literature, there are few studies about them. In these books for children, Wilde praised God in various ways. In this sense, these two books are definitely different from Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Grey (1890) and others. So, Irespectively investigated several definitions of “Christian literature” and “Literature for children”, and I haveclarified the idea of “Christian literature for children” as well as the religious aspects of his short fictions.

Recently Chinese government vessels, maritime law enforcement agencies’ boats and vessels enteredJapanese exclusive economic zone (EEZ).They entered not only the unsettled EEZ between China and Japan, but also Japanese EEZ and territorial waters.To be sure, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea has allowed foreign government vessels to conduct marine scientific researches.However, Chinese government vessels often make marine scientific researches without notice, and enter Japanese EEZ with no information given in advance.Unfortunately, under the present system of international laws, Japan can’t regulate and stop these scientific researches so long as researches which Chinese government vessels make or facilities that they construct do not violate Japanese sovereignty or pollute marine environment.In this situation Japan should think of means and measures of making navigation regulations and giving permission of marine scientific researches to preserve marine environment, such as Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), Protection of Particularly Sensitive Sea Areas (PSSA).MPAs and PSSA are regulations admitted by International Maritime Organization.

In this essay the author attempts to examine how Clive Staples Lewis refuted Freud’s argument about human nature and mind. Until he returned to Christianity and became a powerful apologist, Lewis had to make a long journey of difficulties with twists and turns. The Pilgrim’s Regress is the first book he wrote after he was brought back to Christian faith. Written in a form of allegory, the story tells how Lewis came back to what was his original belief. In the story, a young man named John sets out from his home of Puritania in search for an Island where he might be saved and set free. While wandering, John strays into Zeitgeistheim, where he is captured by a man called Sigismund. This caricatured character representing Sigmund Freud and his followers has this to say: the Island is nothing other than a lustin disguise and the eastern mountains are no more than reified wishful thinking. In the face of this theory which explains what are real as mere reflections of subjective human thoughts and feelings, John realizes that reality and truth exist independent of, and apart from, human minds whether one likes it or not. Fundamental criticism of Freudian notions was an absolutely necessary step in the process of Lewis’s “regress”.

George MacDonald (1824-1905), Scottish author, published his first three short fantasy works for children in 1864. The Shadows is one of them. The shadow represents a human soul. On his deathbed, Ralph, the main character, sees a vision, and he is chosen as the King of the fairyland by the Shadows, then he is carried, on the shoulders of Shadows, to the fairyland or the border of the afterworld. Ralph sees a group of mysterious Shadows there. Although The Shadows consists of very complicated symbolical scenes, images, and words, my close analysis of the workings of Shadows and the visions of Ralph gives the following conclusion: The Shadows is a declaration of MacDonald's idea of salvation(Universalism), because all Shadows try to lead not only Ralph but also all people to salvation in the story.

The purpose of this paper is to study the religious aspect of female characters in Shakespeare’s King Lear by comparing the play with its source materials. Shakespeare created King Lear by rewriting the source materials, with two significant changes. One is creation of subplot around Gloucester and his family, and the other is the reversal of the historical fact of French victory in England-France battle. As a result of these changes, on the one hand, Shakespeare focused on adultery between Goneril and Regan with Edmund in the Gloucester subplot. Here the problem of adultery by married women, and their death could be interpreted as representation of the moral and religious view of the time. On the other hand, describing the victory of England and the death of Cordelia, Shakespeare presented Cordelia’s death, not as the atonement for Lear’s sins, but as a trial given to Lear from God.

In this paper the writer will demonstrate that video-recorded opera works are great use to develop an ability to understand other peoples, their countries and cultures.Here in Japan, few cities have an opera house; few people can enjoy operas as they are actually performed before their eyes just in the town they live in and exactly at the time they have an opportunity. Yet the development of IT as well as audio-visual technology has allowed opera to attract an increasing number of persons. With a lot of performances recorded on video/disk and DVDs, more and more works have reached to an ever wider audience. They can also gain access to the contents of the plays by means of subscriptions.What is more, video-recorded operas are a great help in teaching people Western history. In many operas, heroes and heroines of Greek mythology and statesmen and generals of Roman Empire appear on the stage. While enjoying operas people can learn a lot about the historical situations and cultures not only of the ancient world but of the modern European countries where the works were written.

This article surveys the concept of framing in political consciousness research, and examines its logical implications and theoretical validity as a leading principle of researches. The psychological principles which determine the perception of decision-making problems and the evaluation of probable results which come out of the decisions will bring about remarkable shifts of preference when the same issues are framed in different manners. And this new shift will be easily anticipated and predicted so far as a paradigm change of framing is concerned. In consequence of the consideration, a new framework will be presented as a guiding principle of researches.

The Georgian conflictoccurred in 2008, and on that occasion Russiamade military campaigns in order to protect its own national interests. Also Russia announced its “Initiative in Foreign Policy”before the conflict started and “Five Principles of Foreign Policy” after it ended. In accordance with these strategic measures, recently Russia adopted a strong policy towards the United States and Western countries. In this thesis, the present Russian “Initiative in Foreign Policy” and “Five Principles of Foreign Policy” are closely examined in order to make clear why Russia has taken strong oppositions to the US and Western countries. Through this analysis the author will consider the background against which the Georgian conflict took place and what problems the conflict has put on Russia in terms of its security.

This research focused on the adoption of Smart Phone, regarded as a future mobile device, in Japan and South Korea, where needs for Mobile Internet are continuously on rapid increase. To find out the influences on Behavioral Intention (BI) for the adoption of Smart Phone by Mobile Telecommunication Services Users in both countries, we adopted 4 preceding variables (PE: Performance Expectancy,EE: Effort Expectancy, SI:Social Influence, and FC: Facilitating Conditions) of the Technology Acceptance Model, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Using data collected from total 800 respondents by online survey, this research found out that all 4 preceding variables affect the BI for the adoption of Smart Phone both in Japan and South Korea. Although EE has the lowest influence on BI in Japan and SI is the lowest in Korea, PE and FC affects the BI stronger than EE and SI in both countries. and SI is the lowest in Korea, PE and FC affects the BI stronger than EE and SI in both countries.

This paper describes the design and development of a dedicated GPS receiver for spin stabilized launch vehicles. The receiver is built around a commercially available low cost GPS chip set and operates an enhanced firmware specifically adapted for high dynamics applications. In order to keep tracking a sufficient number of GPS signals even during the spinning motion, we use multiple GPS patch antennas and space them equally apart each other around the cylindrical launcher body. A new signal combining scheme was developed to avoid deep fading in antenna gain pattern. This technique requires phase control to keep signals received on multiple antennas in phase with each other. A dualantenna GPS receiver was developed to evaluate the proposed signal combining algorithm. The result showed that the proposed algorithm was capable of providing stable and continuous signal tracking under a high-rate spinning motion while simple RF combining through a power combiner was failed.

宇宙基地や宇宙往還機などが滞在するLEO では10km/s の速度でデブリが周回し,その数は記録されていないmm オーダーのものまで入れると4,000 万個ともいわれ,更に増え続けていると考えられている.これらの環境のもと宇宙機の構造側で最も考慮すべきとされるデブリは重量1g,速度10km/s とされるが,地上での試験を行うために用いる事ができる2 段式軽ガスガンでは速度は7km/s 程度までがほぼ上限である.一方,10km/s 以上の超高速試験では成型爆薬を用いた方法がある.そこで,著者らは10km/s の速度を安定的に出せる装置を開発したが,さらにプロジェクタイルを速度約7km/s で固体の状態のままで発射できるガスガンと,溶融化した状態となる成型爆薬方式との,それぞれの衝突現象の把握と,両者の差異の有無を確認する事を目的として,7km/s で1g 程度の模擬デブリの発射が可能な成型爆薬方式による射出システムを開発した.この装置の開発によって,ガスガンを用いた実験と成型爆薬方式による実験との関係を得る事が可能となり,5km/sレベルから10km/s レベルまで,固体デブリが衝突した時の構造への影響を正確に把握する事を目的としている.

A completely new solar electric propulsion concept, the Air Breathing Ion Engine (ABIE), has been proposed for spacecraft drag makeup at very low altitudes, ranging from 150 to 200 km. ABIE scoops up neutral atoms and molecules traveling at an orbital velocity of approximately 8 km/s, ionizes them by means of an electron cyclotron resonance plasma source that is efficient in a wide range of low gas pressures, and accelerates the ionized air particles electrostatically to exhaust velocities larger than 100 km/s. The key technology of this thruster is the design of a propellant inlet which allows the incoming flow to enter the discharge chamber, yet it prevents the thermalized gas from escaping upstream. In this system, an air-breathing-type neutralizer may also be employed, in which case the need to carry on-board xenon propellant is eliminated and results in gains in payload mass if the mission duration is longer than 2 years. This technology should give researchers access to a part of the atmosphere that is currently very difficult to measure and is thus called the "ignorosphere." Promising applications other than aeronomy include science missions involving accurate gravity and magnetic field mapping, and high-resolution Earth surveillance.

日本の慢性疼痛のガイドライン 2021 では,「統合医療」の項で、「鍼灸治療は慢性疼痛に有用か?」というクリニカル・クエスチョン(CQ)で推奨度は2(弱):施行することを弱く推奨する(提案する)、とあり、慢性片頭痛や慢性緊張型頭痛などにも推奨され始めている。慢性疼痛患者に対する鍼治療効果を脳イメージングを用いた手法により,検討した結果、慢性片頭痛では初回では反応しなかった下行性疼痛調節系の部位が4週間継続して鍼治療を行うことで、賦活した。さらに慢性腰痛ではシャム鍼と比較し、真の鍼で脳活動部位に差異が認められ、痛み軽減も有意に真の鍼の方が高かった。このように慢性疼痛患者に対する鍼治療効果は、脳の疼痛関連領域にも影響がある可能性が示された。
