This study investigated the uses and impacts of information sources, such as web sites, alumni and friends, during college student job hunting. Forty-nine college students (27 males, 22 females) were surveyed longitudinally regarding the information they sought for. This information was categorized into four types: company characteristics, company impression, job hunting methods, and self during job hunting. Results showed that there was a specific information medium that enabled the participants to acquire the required information easily. In particular, participants indicated that the information obtained from alumni was useful, as well as generally fruitful. However, web sites and friends were not particularly effective information sources with regard to obtaining desired results.

This thesis explores the relation between the lives of high-school students and their course consideration by conducting the "high-school students' questionnaire survey." In particular, we comprehensively surveyed the social networks of high-school students. Our subsequent analysis clarified the following three points: (1) Social networks of high-school students comprise their schoolmates and peers; these networks are characterized by fewer interpersonal relationships, as compared to those of adults. However, there are large individual variations in these networks. (2) High-school students are content with their interpersonal relationships among the group that they belong to; thus, interpersonal relationships with individuals outside their group are rare. (3) Our statistical analysis assumes that "the high-school students' course consideration" is an explained variable. Therefore, we verify that the quality of a social network has greater influential power on course consideration than its extent. Thus, it can be interpreted that the improvement in course consideration arising from an interaction with a "different person" is greater than that arising from an interaction with a "similar person."

The present study was intended to examine strategies of information search used in vocational decision making. Third and fourth-year undergraduate students were selected as subjects. Regarding the amount of information search, high and low group of vocational readiness were found to be different among third-year students who did not have any job hunting experience whereas no difference was observed between the two groups among fourth-year students who had a job hunting experience. With regards to strategies of information search, third-year students tended to use strategies-search within alternatives across attributes in first part of vocational decision making process and search within attributes across alternatives in a second part of the process. On the other hand, fourth-year students tended to search within attributes across alternatives in the first part and search within alternatives across attributes in the second part. Fourth-year students used information search strategies which were more rational and analogous to decision making in other areas of daily life.

The present study was intended to investigate relation among "job-hunt" relevant stressors (physical stressors, firm-relevant stressors, aptitude/interests-relevant stressors), social supports (emotional support, informative support), and satisfaction with "job-hunt" process. A questionnaire was administered to final year undergraduate students (N=165) who were searching for a job. Results indicated that (1) "job-hunt" relevant stressors relates to "job-hunt" process, (2) "job-hunt" relevant stressors and social support relate to satisfaction with "job-hunt" process. (3) Results that discribed above show different pattarns by sex and by the degree of involvement to "job hunt". A role that "job-hunt" relevant stressors and social support play, the differences by sex and the degree of involvement, the concerning matters were discussed.

This paper conducted a comparative analysis of male and female college freshmen with regard to the type of business they hope to work in and their aspirations for the future. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted on three occasions. The analysis results showed the following: (1) There is a difference in the career preferred by male and female students. Male students tended to choose the post of a civil servant/ public servant/ government worker, while female students wished to be employed in the private sector. (2) Male students hoped to work in the secondary and tertiary sectors, while female students hoped to work only in the tertiary sector. The difference with regard to “Hope type of business” among males is large compared with females. (3) There was a significant difference among male and female students with regard to the relation between the type of business they hoped to work in and their aspirations for the future. Further, it can be said that there was a difference in the distribution of the type of business that male and female students hoped to work in, because the reasons for aspiring to work in the particular business varied between both sexes. (4) The tendency was observed that the span of “Hope type of business” spread over time after entry to college.

本研究では,職業威信に関する先行研究を検討することによって,安全性拡充のための社会心理学的な装置の可能性を探索することを目的とした.まず,従来の職業威信に関する社会学的な研究を検討した.その結果,職業威信は各国間,世代間で不変であるという特徴がみられた.次に,職業威信に関する社会心理学的な研究を概観した.社会心理学では,職業威信はおもにジェンダーやキャリアガイダンスとの関連で論じられていた.最後に,認知された職業威信として,自分の職業に対する誇りの変数に焦点を当てた.いくつかの調査研究をもとに誇りの変数が,年齢や性別によって異なること,違反や事故と関連がみられる可能性があることなどを論じた.

本研究では,職場における違反と個人特性との関連について明らかにすることを目的としている.サンプリングによって抽出された501名の有職者男女の回答を分析した結果,1)職場において3割から5割の人が個人的違反を経験しており,不正かばいあい経験は1割前後,不正の非難・回避経験は2割前後存在することが明らかになった.2)職場における違反と個人特性との関連を検討した結果,違反に対する抵抗感には自尊感情や関心の狭さが,違反経験には公的自意識や認知的複雑性が影響を与える個人特性として特定された.個人特性は本来変容しにくいものとしてとらえられているが,変容可能なソーシャルスキルとして置き換えることによって,職場における違反抑止のための心理学的装置として応用可能である.
