About the era of Oei (A. D.1400) Chujo Hyogonosuke Nagahide started the Chujo school of swardsmanship, introducing the doctrine of the Zen sect by Jion, a Zen priest into it. Later it prevailed widely in the province of Echizen (now it is Fukui Prefecture), where lived the Toda Family, from whose descendants appeared a large number of masters and experts in succession, as the result of which, the Chujo was called the Toda school before everyone knew it.The founder of the Toda school was Nagaiye, whose son Kageiye succeeded to him and his three sons, Satoiye, Seigen and Kagemasa handed down the secret of the art. It was especially to Shigemasa who was the adopted son of Kagemasa that the authority of this family reached the climax. I have tried to consider in this monograph the details of the tradition which flourished from the Chujo to the Toda school with the help of documents in connection with the same school.

The Meiji Restration era was just the time when all Japan was pervaded with the people's desire to abolish the former system and institutions and renovate everything antiquate and out of date, including their old manners and customs. The Japanese fencing with a long proud history of its own was no exception: it was shunned by people under the pretext that it was barbarous. So the fencing masters who had been constant in their devotion to fencing found it difficult to support themselves and their family. Thus idea they hit upon in order to earn their daily bread was to hold fencing shows.The paper is an investigation as to the actual state of income and expenditure accounted for after the fifteen shows of fencing between the year 11 and 19 of Meiji, which were given mainly by the fencing masters of the Kasama clan in Hitashi province (now Ibaraki Prefecture).

Mune-yoshi Yagiyu got acquainted with Hide-tsuna Kami-izumi in 1563 (A. D.). At that time, Mune-yoshi was thirty-five years old and he was commonly acknowledged that he was one of the greatest swordsmen ever known. But, realizing that Hide-tsuna's talents was supreme far ever, he hoped to become a pupil of Hide-tsuna, and he studied under Hide-tsuna.Later, Mune-yoshi was qualified for the teacher of Kage-Style by Hide-tsuna.I have some questions as follows, what style he had learned before.I suppose as follows.Yagiyu-shin-kage-ryu-engi which was transmitted to the Yagiyu family in 0-wari district was suggested him to belong Shin-to Style, and the annals of the Yagiyu family in Edo district was suggested him to belong Toda Style.Shin- kage Style is said that was added to new idea to Kage Style that was created by Iko-sai Aisu. I think that it had not a simple progress, but especially Yagiyushin-kage Style was performed a merit of Shin-to Style, Toda Style and various styles. Then I would like to know and study more about those relation by the comparison the literature on this subject.

The two mono-hydroxylated metabolites of 9-amino-2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta [b] quinoline monohydrochloride monohydrate (NIK-247), which is a new drug for the treatment of dementia, were synthesized to determine their chemical structures. Reduction of two tricyclic ketones, 9-amino-1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7-hexahydro-8H-cyclopenta [b] quinolin-8-one and 9-amino-2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta [b]-quinolin-1-one, with NaBH4 afforded the corresponding racemic alcohols. The optically active mono-hydroxylated metabolites, (+)-9-amino-2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta [b] quinolin-8-ol and (+)-9-amino-2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8-hexahydro-1H-cyclopenta [b] quinolin-1-ol, were obtained by optical resolution of each racemic alcohol using (+)-di-p-toluoyl-D-tartaric acid.

西日本地区30施設の共同研究により,肺癌の治癒切除例に対する補助化学療法の有用性を検討した.このtrialが終了した後5年の観察期間が経過したのでその成績を報告する.対象は絶対的治癒切除,相対的治癒切除となった肺腺癌であり,A群はMMC(20+10mg)+tegafur600mg1年間経口投与,B群はMMC(20+10mg)+UFT400-600mg1年間経口投与とした.1982年11月から1985年11月までにA群113例,B群111例の計224例が集積された.不適格例が43例であり,A群88例,B群93例を解析対象とした.背景因子には差は認めなかった.成績は5年生存率および5年健存率で検討した.両群の全症例の5年生存率はA群64.3%,B群55.6%で有意差は認めず,健存率でも差はなかった.後層別解析で,N2症例において5年生存率および5年健存率とも,B群が良好であった(p=0.029,p=0.048).
