Huang zun-xian is famous as a diplomat, reformative thinker, poet at the end of the Qing dynasty. While he stayed in Japan as an adviser to the first envoy of the Chinese Government from the end of 1877 to the beginning of 1882, Huang zun-xian not only culturally communicated with many Japanese Sinologists, but also politically associated with Ryukyuans.Above all, Huang zun-xian became close to Bakensai, who submitted a petition for salvation of the Ryukyu Kingdom to him at Kobe Port on his way to Tokyo, and during his stay in Japan, they co-operated closely for the salvation of the Ryukyu Kingdom each other. In that process, his recognition of the Ryukyu issue became more substantial, so he composed the long Chinese poem 'Liu qiu ge'.In this paper, I have tried to translate it into Japanese with annotation, and investigated the characteristics of Huang zun-xian's recognition of the history and the then situation of the Ryukyu Kingdom. As a result, I have come to the following conclusions: (1) Huang zunxian correctly recognized the turning - point of the Ryukyuan history and the Ryukyu Kingdom's subordination to both Japan and China, (2) on one hand, he was moved by the feeling of sympathy for the Ryukyuans, who lost their nationality on account of the abolishment of the Ryukyu Kingdom, and (3) on the other hand, he objectively realized the abolishment of the Ryukyu Kingdom as an inevitable result of the Meiji Restoration.
